You may be right about Pedo not playing 9 games in 2017, barring injury, but I disagree. Gawn needs a chopout during games and the FD is reluctant to continue using Watts. Pedo can play key back or key forward for periods in a game and also give the chopout for the ruckman. He can also take a big mark and kick a goal and has also goaled on the run or from snapshots. ATM I can't see who provides all that better than him. While I don't see him with us for many more years, I think he will still be important for us this year.

Heard yesterday via a Saints person, that they believed Fyfe was going to Carlton. Same as I was told by a Carlton person a few weeks ago. Saints person said Lewis was considered a great get by us, by the other clubs.

Fyfe is a heavyset player who has twice broken his leg. I am not convinced he will be as good as he was.
-
We have higher standards.
-
If the rumours on Fyfe are true, he can go to the Saints or Blues, who have apparently offered him bundles of cash. I don't want a "me man", I want us to keep building a great team. We are on the way and I don't think this FD is going to derail that. PS. No guarantee that Fyfe will come back as good as he was, after the broken leg. Dangerfield while obviously having a great year, has probably cost the Cats a few players, because of the salary cap and I wonder if that will hurt the team fabric.

Ok. He played 70 games for us kicking 50 goals over the years 1983-7. He won the Brownlow in 1984 and we finished 2nd last. During his period with us we finished 5th last, then 2nd last twice, then 4th last and in his final year when he played only 7 games due to injury and had no impact, we started our rise to finals. His Brownlow year as I recall, was cheap possessions, which didn't lift the team at all and we finished 2nd last. Hardly a Dangerfield Brownlow impact. Yes he won a Brownlow, but his impact on the club in his 5 years with us, was at best serviceable. I doubt most would argue with that. It was not about the Brownlow, but the impact this terribly expensive experiment of him and Templeton, had on the club. It was an epic failure.
-
But that was the point. He was at best serviceable. Templeton was a disaster. The experiment cost us a fortune and achieved nothing.

And another one, following Rick Parfitt yesterday. RIP George and condolences to family, friends and fans.

Peter Moore and Kelvin Templeton.

Not rubbish at all. Any other club that lost pick 15 for that offence would be in Court fighting. They may have had the world, but pick 15 is still a big penalty for that offence. It is like saying, if for example a rich guy got a parking ticket, he should be fined much more than the prescribed penalty, because he can afford it.

Surprised they haven't updated the player lists on the club site.

Merry Xmas guys and a happy and safe New Year to you all. Go Dees.

That's probably more to the point. Refusing a breath or blood alcohol test, carries 2 years licence suspension in Victoria, even though you might have only had a negative reading, or or a reading that leads to say 10 months suspension for example. So the refusing/avoiding, is punished heavily, to discourage that behaviour and ensure that all parties asked to undergo testing do so.

Well you should have, as Paul was a much better drummer than Ali and Ali didn't live in a crowded house.

Sorry, I meant McGrath.

Interestingly, it is the second year in a row, where the AFL has denied us the right to upgrade a Rookie, despite having a spot available to do so. While the Bombers uplifted players to replace suspended ones, we were not allowed to replace Melksham, who was also suspended. If Melksham had remained a Bomber, they would have been able to replace him. As a bonus, they were given the first pick in the draft.

Looks like Casey is going to have plenty of ruckmen, with the latest additions being Hanlon and Nyuon.
-
They lost their first round pick. That is a big penalty for this particular offence.
-
I would have thought at the least I would have got a call from Josh and PJ explaining it all to me.

Pick 17.5
-
They said on the TV news it was about pick 15.
-
Something is fishy with the AFL ruling if it is in fact a ruling. We could have kept HL on the list and paid him the agreed amount, while declaring him unfit to play and eligible for the LTI list and then able to uplift a rookie. He then would have retired at the end of the season. Something is funny here.

Some people have no perspective. GWS lost pick 15 and were fined $100k for a decision by a couple of managers, to hide a player, in case there was a drug test, which incidentally there wasn't. We lost no picks and were fined $500k, for a club sanctioned attempt, to not do our best and thereby get pick 1, even though that was not the actual finding. Our whole club, including the Board, was behind our activity that lasted all year. Pick 15 is valuable to every club. As I said on here, GWS would get a decent penalty for what happened and compared to ours, it is harsh.
