  1. You are missing my point. If he is not astute enough to know that he should be publicly thanking us, I am not criticising him for that.
  2. Thanks Kevin.
  3. He is no Rhodes Scholar or Rocket Scientist, we all know that, he is just a country kid who can play football very well. I don’t expect much else from him. He helped us win a flag and I will never forget that and at one stage he was my favourite Demon, but time moves on.
  4. We have often traded 2nd and 3rd round picks to get better picks, when we have had limited spots to use picks on.
  5. Agree, but Suns aren’t stupid and they paid that price to get him, to hopefully add icing to a flag tilt cake.
  6. You mean “milking “ 3 firsts for a Norm Smith Medallist, Premiership, All Australian and B & F player, widely regarded as one of the best players in the AFL. Remind me what BH has achieved so far.
  7. As one of the media guys said, “if that was his Captain on the ground, would Florent have avoided head contact?” We know the answer and so should the MRO, it was deliberate, dirty and with the potential to cause a very serious injury, it has to be punished. If Florent hadn’t looked down at Heeney before the incident he would have a defence, but he did and doesn’t.
  8. Cripps is a great but had a poor game and it is not the first time that he has tried to show aggression at the man after the contest, which has backfired. There were a lot of post contest incidents and I wonder if that is part of the Coach’s play tough policy and the Carlton players taking it the wrong way. Cripps needs to get it out of his game.
  9. It will probably come down to something like, if BH wants to come to us and say Suns relent and want our 2 first rounders and if those picks could get us say another Langford and say another Disco, what do we want more? Also another poster mentioned Paddy Cross. Of course he is untested, but say BH is a 20 possession 2 goal a game player and Cross becomes let’s say a 14 possession 1 goal a game player, does that affect the above choice? Then factor in the improvement of say Culley, Howes, AMW, Langford, Kolt and Windsor and say Trelly and Matthews start showing something, how does that effect the choice. In other words it is a big investment in a player that has to be carefully considered and of course I didn’t even touch on the issue of a long and large contract that will be needed to get BH and the effect it has on our salary cap and player morale.
  10. Absolutely. Looked down at Heeney, saw his head and kneed him. Dirty act and he has given out a few already.
  11. When Dimma said they are taking a long term approach with Jamarra, I took that to mean he wasn't playing first round.
  12. I am smiling as I post this. This is a discussion about a pretty important issue for the club. The members are totally in the dark. While I accept there could be good reasons for the lack of announcements, surely a comment from the club couched in appropriate terms wouldn’t be too difficult to manage.
  13. An AFL List Manager is responsible for shaping a club's playing list to ensure both short-term competitiveness and long-term success. Key duties include managing the Total Player Payments (TPP) salary cap, negotiating player contracts, leading trading and drafting strategies, and scouting talent. They balance list needs with the coach's goals. Key Responsibilities: List Strategy: Developing and implementing long-term, strategic plans for the composition of the playing list. Salary Cap Management: Ensuring all player contracts comply with the AFL’s Total Player Payments (TPP) and soft cap regulations. Contract Negotiations: Leading negotiations for player contracts, extensions, and renewals. Recruiting & Trading: Identifying, acquiring, and trading talent through the National Draft, Pre-Season Draft, rookie drafts, and Free Agency. Relationship Management: Maintaining relationships with player agents, AFL officials, state talent managers, and club coaches. Compliance: Ensuring all player movements and contracts comply with AFL rules and regulations. Relationship to Coaching: Working alongside the senior coach to balance immediate, on-field success with long-term list development. They are essentially the architect of the playing squad, working year-round to balance the budget while maximizing talent. An AFL Recruiting Manager leads talent identification, assessment, and acquisition to build a competitive club list. Key duties include scouting, evaluating prospects through data and in-person games, managing part-time recruiting networks, conducting background checks, and driving the strategy for national drafts, rookie drafts, and trade periods. Key Responsibilities: Talent Identification & Scouting: Actively scouting and observing underage (TAC Cup, NAB League), VFL, and AFL-level games to identify potential talent. List Strategy & Management: Developing and implementing long-term recruiting strategies, including list retention and assessing list needs in collaboration with coaching staff. Evaluation & Analysis: Analyzing player data, performance metrics, and watching coded vision to assess suitability. Draft & Trade Planning: Managing the logistics and strategy for the AFL National Draft, Rookie Draft, and trade periods. Background Checks & Interviews: Conducting in-depth background checks, character interviews with coaches/teachers, and home visits with players and their families. Staff Management & Reporting: Leading and coordinating a team of regional or part-time scouts, and reporting findings to the List Manager or General Manager of Football. Stakeholder Management: Building relationships with player managers, talent managers, and Next Generation Academies (NGA). Required Skills and Attributes: Deep knowledge of AFL and VFL structures and talent pathways. Strong analytical skills to interpret player performance data. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interviews and relationship building. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, and travel extensively. It is the role of the Recruiting Manager to identify which players you draft/trade and then up to the List Manager to try and get them and keep them.
  14. That was tame.
  15. Go Swans. Carlton failure is always a win.
  16. They haven't announced anything about anything.
  17. Agree that today's players might cop an occasional spray, but it doesn't work if that is the only way that the person coaches. I recall listening to Premiership Coach Tony Jewell, who was coaching Caulfield, give his 3/4 time address on the ground, at Princes Park Caulfield many years ago. The players were in the huddle and the fans male and female surrounded them. Jewell was screaming profanities, F and C bombs and nothing else. Every word was a swear word. Spit was flying from his mouth. He was completely red faced and looking like a heart attack was about to hit. There was absolutely nothing said about football. I struggled not to laugh, it was hilarious.
  18. But tenuous and hopeful is ahead of nil. If we have a lease for a certain period, that is a legal right and better than tenuous and hopeful, would you not agree?
  19. And hopefully that will be reflected in their performances.
  20. I think there were a few media reports quoted, but that could be one. The Pies already train at Goschs occasionally during the year. "Collingwood Connection: While the Collingwood Football Club ("Pies") trains at the nearby Olympic Park Oval (Westpac Centre/Glasshouse), they have used Gosch's Paddock for training, particularly for matches near the MCG."
  21. Posters on DL have referred to them, but I suppose you could google Tennis Australia and Goschs and do the same with the Pies. "Gosch's Paddock is a key public recreational space located within the Melbourne & Olympic Parks precinct, adjacent to AAMI Park and the National Tennis Centre. It serves as a vital green space for the surrounding elite sporting venues, including Melbourne Park, and is frequently used for AFL training, public exercise, and as a pedestrian pathway during events like the Australian Open. Melbourne Park +2 Key Information regarding Tennis Australia & Gosch's Paddock: Expansion Potential: As of early 2026, Tennis Australia has identified the land around Gosch's Paddock and neighboring venues as potential space for future Australian Open expansion to accommodate more fans and facilities."
  22. Lewis is still mates with some at the club and that was a very insightful and interesting comment.
  23. There have been reports that the Pies and Tennis Australia want Goschs' and if true they would like to move us on. They are from the big end of town. Therefore to get us off, another home needs to be found.
  24. On another note, I love the way Fritta has been going this pre season. He seems more energized, fitter and is covering more ground. His contribution is now greater than just kicking a goal or two, he is setting up play from further afield. That is better for him and us. I think he will be a more valuable player for us this year.
  25. The pressure to leave Goschs and get Caulfield diminishes if we go somewhere else temporarily. If parties want us to leave Goschs, then help us get Caulfield. I wouldn't budge until Caulfield is fully committed and they are turning the soil.
