  1. Hawthorn wanted to trade Sewell, but luckily for them in hindsight Sewell wouldn't agree; it is funny how conceited the Hawks become because they won a premiership. It is this sort of arrogance that gives them no chance this year. Sort of reminds me of Essendon in 1993.
  2. really depends on what type of players are available. At the moment it seems that KPP come in rushes. Also they will struggle without the experienced players and the ones they want will not leave their existing club. Don't forget that there are not too many Queenslanders wanting to return home.
  3. what does it matter who MFC pick,if they are any good in 2/3 years Carlton will offer him a $1million a year and a job for his gf/wife at Visy stacking boxes.
  4. Prismall has to agree; I am sure that Melbournefc offered 35, but if the player will not come... Really, what evidence is there that Melbournefc will improve over the next few years? Melbournefc have a young and undeveloped list. This year they regularly got thrashed. I can't see Essendon improving; but they were more competitive this year and have forwards like Lloyd & Lucas who must be more appealing to Prismall than Miller, Newton and Robertson (returning from serious injury). But football is strange, Nathan Brown left Footscray for Richmond because he saw no more prospects of playing finals there; yet Richmond finished bottom with Hawthorn and Footscray in 2002 and they are the only ones not to see finals since. Judd discounted Hawthorn & St Kilda early last year because he could see any prospects of success there.
  5. Hansen is a fast leading type forward who requires good supply supply, which Melbourne midfield cannot give (for a few seasons). Would also think that being 26 (before the start of next season) would not be a good fit at Melbourne.
  6. Not according to the guys on the Warnock thread; they'll pick Prismall. But IMO Melbourne need another quality ruckman more than another in and under midfielder.
  7. Jared Rivers is the only MFC player that I can see that could get pick 4 from Power.
  8. Seaby will choose Sydney. With Everett retiring they have a hole in their rucking division.
  9. Stewart Loewe went to an AGS school not an APS
  10. Darn right, Dal Santo will be 30 by the time Melbourne start playing finals again. Trading for anyone over 23 and over is going to cost a spot (or two) and then take a spot on the Melbourne list.
  11. Actually Melbourne can still trade him, and White's value is driven by the market. If two or more clubs want White then MFC could get a good deal. If only Carlton wants White then he could end up there for their PSD #6.
  12. what about the colour of the number? I bet it will be white.
  13. How about this Trade Bruce to Collingwood for their first pick. Trade that pick to Geelong for Longegan and their second round pick Trade that pick to Freo for Warnock. These trades would never happen, but it shows how it is impossible to predict the trade week. Because player preferences, salary caps and team needs play a big part.
  14. It is hard to judge Newton's quality in this team. Melbourne are not bringing in the ball with any speed; not even Gary Ablett Snr would kick more than 3 or 4 goals playing in the Melbourne Forward line; when the ball eventually gets forward the opposition have flooded back. The good thing that Newton has done the past two weeks is chase when Melbourne don't have the ball. I am not saying the Newton is going to be a great player at this level - I have no idea; but you can't judge him when the Melbourne ball movement is so slow. And at least he is doing the team things that a lot of his teams aren't.
  15. Morton is playing on the wing. And he played most of the game on Baun.
  16. especially since Freo were over the cap and couldn't use their 1st PSD pick. They also did Hawthorn over with McPharlin. But this maybe just karma as both clubs have history with Freo: Gilbert v Farmer & Jeff White (when Melb was over the cap) & 1st pick (Hodge) v Croad
  17. 1. Hawthorn - Luke Hodge (Geelong U18) 2. St Kilda - Luke Ball (Sandringham U18) 3. West Coast - Chris Judd (Sandringham U18) 4. Fremantle - Graham Polak (East Fremantle) 5. St Kilda - Xavier Clarke (St Marys) 6. West Coast - Ashley Sampi (South Fremantle) 7. Kangaroos - David Hale (Broadbeach) 8. Geelong - James Bartel (Geelong U18) 9. Melbourne If you added Waite and Ablett (father-sons) Melbourne could have picked up a champion. Shows how the father-sons can distort the draft. FWIIW My guess would be that Ablett would be a Hawk WCE would have picked up Ball or Hodge at 3 and probably got Judd at 6. Geelong probably would have Waite at 8 (based on Fremantle picking local and the Kangas needing a ruckman badly and the Saints picking Clarke still at 5) and Melbourne could have picked Bartel at 9....
  18. Craig is it still raining in perth, lots of free time :-)? I don't think experience is going to help those three; they miss the obvious and that you cannot learn. Although Melbourne did't adjust their game (or learn) to suit the way it was officiated, they kept on holding in the centre and giving away the frees.
  19. Gone are Neitz, Yze, Holland and the 200k to Brisbane for Johnstone (frees up a lot of salary cap) I doubt Bode will get another chance, so add him. Probably delisted or traded is White, depending if Melbourne drafts (Naitanui) or trades (Warnock) for another Ruckman. With a settled back three consisting of Warnock, Garland and Martin. With Carroll still contracted (if he chooses to stay if told he has limited options and another club wants him) and with McNamara developing Rivers or Frawley MAY be offered for trade. Although I believe that Garland could play on-ball or forward if another key backman comes good (Rivers not injured or Frawley or McNamare improves) but I see Melbourne has a tall backman surplus considering you tend to play only 2 or 3. Weetra may get kept on the list (as hopes he may improve because of his age) depending on the number of trades Melbourne make (ie player for pick) and thus the number of 30+ draft picks they have; as this draft is seen as deep, I don't believe it will be 4 or 5 rounds deep because of the increase in age the drafted players have to be. The only other possible trade I see is Moloney to a team "there abouts" looking for midfield depth (eg St Kilda, Richmond, Roos, Collingwood etc.) but his value is probably only a second round now because of his OP problems. I doubt Bell will get offered for trade, as Melbourne have a shortage of QUICK small backman.
  20. do you give out tattslotto numbers? U do need to work on your first quarter foresees a little though.
  21. Can I smoke some of that stuff too? At this stage Laycock and Hill are better than Jamar and PJ. I think that Essendon's team now is a little one dimensional, generally their kids all seem light and quick. Also without Lloyd and Lucas, and the on going injuries to Johns they are going to struggle to kick goals in years to come and thus like Melbourne they will need to develop or draft or trade. Essendon are also very suspect down back too. I am not sure if the management of the EFC will give their current coach the time to re-build as they are going to go backwards after the older guys leave over the next few seasons. But the false dawn of this week is going to delude their supporters into thinking that they will be a great side next year, I can already hear them talking about how they are going to get GF seats.
  22. Great quote. Melbourne will have Yze and Neitz off the list at the end of the year. Probably close to a $1 Mil per year, who would you spend that money on, can't see anyone at Melbourne deserving that sort of money. Also add that the commitment to Brisbane for Johnstone finishes this year. You add White and Bruce's will not demand as much next time their contracts are up, Melbourne have a lot of money to pay for a trade, and under the rules they MUST pay it. And with the likelihood of 1st pick in the PSD, then it is going to be interesting.
  23. Melbourne also allowed Hawthorn too many centre clearances, especially at times when Melbourne had the run on. Hawthorn centre three (today they were missing at least Hodge, Crawford) of Bateman, Sewell and Mitchell are playing well this year, but they are still behind the best of Geelong, Brisbane, Sydney and probably more.
  24. Yze will play again. If he hasn't commanded a game and stays fit there will be a 'tribute' style game to send him and Neitz (and maybe some others) off in style.
  25. He is still growing, and he is already an inch taller than Jeff White. I think the draft camps records are safe, I can't see any clubs inviting him to the camps if he is that sure a number 1 pick.
