  1. No room for Melbourne Heart, a rugby union team or a hockey team at MRS. That's not to say those teams won't play matches there, but in terms of additional team bases, she's too tight. There'll be some interesting negotiations over the next 2 years methinks.
  2. I think that a number of coaches and assistant coaches are available given the recent changes at AFL & VFL level. I wouldn't want to make a guess, and create any rumours.
  3. Actually it will be the 4th coach in 4 years- not the 3rd: 2007 - Peter Banfield 2008 - Greg Hutchinson 2009 - Peter German 2010 - ????
  4. I'm not sure why you would leap to the conclusion that Casey people would blame MFC for the contract not being signed (if that's the case). I think that would clearly be a Casey responsibility.
  5. What will Juddy do to earn extra income - become a Volvo ambassador instead of an environment ambassador?
  6. Except: 1/ where the actions of MFC might impact on the VFL coach of the aligned team, such as not supplying sufficient players for finals (which may well not worry Demonland posters) 2/ where the results of 1/ might result in a consequential impact on the future development of MFC players (which should worry the heck out of Demonland posters). Join the dots!!
  7. Sainters!!! BTW there's no extra time in the GF - just a replay next week if the scores are even at full time (do you seriously think that the AFL would forego such a bonanza?). Go Saints.
  8. I heard the crowd singing the song in unison prior to the first time the PA system played it. It seemed to start from the cheer squad end of the ground of the ground as far as I could tell. Great atmosphere at the end of the game. Winners all round.
  9. You don't need to wait for the family day - we'll give you a private tour of Casey Fields any time you like.
  10. Article from the Berwick News referred to by olddemon: http://www.starnewsgroup.com.au/story/79147
  11. That would most certainly not be a good start for the alignment. there would be some very palpable anger down at Casey Fields if MFC decided that its players couldn't be risked in a VFL final. Apart form getting some good intense matches into the younger players (albeit not AFL matches), surely the players would prefer to play footy finals (particularly as the AFL team finished last) rather than be prima donnas and saying they can't play because the pre-season is just around the corner. The pre-season just around the corner at CASEY FIELDS. You know - the ground of the Casey Scorpions. The rumour had better be wrong or there'll be many miffed people at the Scorps.
  12. Set up an introduction camp to obtain father-son prospects? The mind boggles - is this where MFC footballers can be introduced to young ladies who will provide the greatest chance of securing outstanding progeny?
  13. If MFC hadn’t: • aligned with the Casey Scorpions • established a campus at Casey as part of a push to shore up a geographic support base in the area then you wouldn’t have me interested in MFC. I would have thought my interest as a Casey resident, and also now as an MFC member because of it (albeit as my 2nd team) would be exactly what MFC was hoping to achieve in the first year of a long term foray into the Casey area.
  14. Go Sainters....my No 1 team. Melbourne has zoomed up the list and is now very firmly my 2nd team because of the Casey connection. I was riding home the Jordan McMahon kick for a goal as much as any Demon supporter I can tell you. And in Round 22 we seek a very common outcome.....Go Saints.
  15. No additional seats in this development. This development is primarily about facilities for MFC and the Casey Scorpions, but there are additional benefits in more covered standing area for spectators on the pavilion side of the ground and improved change rooms and coaching facilities for visiting clubs. Additional seating will be a matter revolving around future funding opportunities and match allocation (NAB Cup, VFL finals, low crowd AFL Premiership matches).
  16. Tenders closed on 5 August 2009 for the pavilion extension to accomodate MFC and which will also provide better facilities for the Scorps and other clubs using the complex. The contract was awarded to a builder at a Special Council Meeting on 11 August 2009. A very quick turnaround time! Site works commenced a couple of weeks ago with an off-contract levelling of the site so that the builder could get cracking earlier. Aim is to be completed in March 2010.

  18. I think that the AFL listed player must have played 8 matches in the VFL during the season to be eligible to be selected for the VFL team in a finals match EXCEPT where the AFL team is also (still) playing in the finals in which case the player can be selected in the VFL finals team regardless of the number of VFL matches played during the season.
  19. The Minister of Sport is opening the new spectator facilities on the outer side of the ground, prior to the main game which starts at 1:10pm. The facilities are: * covered terracing either side of the scoreboard * canteen * toilets * a scoreboard on the grandstand side so that spectators on the outer side can see the score.
  20. At $250 mill I think the Council might just draw the line.
  21. If everything goes according to schedule, and an acceptable tender price is received, March 2010. No balcony extension - the facilities are all admin upstairs (with offices looking out over the ground, some of which will be used on match day as coaches boxes, media etc). Extending the balcony in front of those offices would obscure the view of play from the offices.
  22. Tenders are to be called tomorrow for the pavilion extension. There are perspective drawings on the Casey website which show the size of the extension relative to the existing building. http://www.casey.vic.gov.au/caseyfields/ar....asp?Item=15990
  23. Option 2, but swing the logo 90 degrees so that it matches the 2010 and will sit the right way up when draped around your neck.
  24. Three of the next 4 Casey Scorpions Matches on ABC TV: Saturday June 27th v Williamstown @ Williamstown Saturday July 11th v Frankston @ Casey Fields Saturday July 18th v Collingwood @ Sandringham TV coverage starts from 1:00pm - all games start at 1:10pm. The July 11 match is preceded by the official opening of the new spectator facilities (covered standing area, kiosk & toilets) on the outer side at Casey Fields.
