Most Frustrating Team in the AFL
Since Goodwin took over in 2017:...... ( I know stats are not everything, but they can certainly be helpful when comparing year to year results) Tom McDonald has gone backwards in practically every statistic, other than his one goal-kicking spike in 2018 (From which he has gone WAY backwards. His confidence is shot, and he is currently a liability in the team Tom McDonald has not improved. James Harmes improved pretty much all of his stats in 2018, but did not improve on those last year. James Harmes has improved, but stagnated last year. (Like most did tbh) Clayton Oliver played his first full season of games in 2017 after playing only 13 in 2016. Went backwards last year, like most did stats-wise. Clayton Oliver has improved , but stagnated last year. Jake Melkshams first year back from peptide suspension was also the first year of Goodwins solo tenure. Makes him a bit harder to judge, especially when comparing his Essendon days, where he played in a different position. His stats in 2017 were very similar to his last year at Essendrug, other than the spike in Goal kicking as he went forward. Naturally that stat is one you would have expected to increase from his time in defence at the Bombers. His last 2 years output has not matched his last year at Essendon. As much as i love him, Jake Melksham has probably not improved. Christian Petracca is an interesting one. He had spike upwards in 2018 when the whole team was up, from which he returned to almost identical stats of the previous year. 2019 2019 for Trac was a repeat of 2017. He has started this year in reasonable fashion, but the pre-season hype ( Which i was also feeling) has not translated YET to dominating during regular season matches. Christian Petracca has improved, but has still not taken that next step under Goodwin. So you are probably right about 3 of them having improved under Simple Simon, but 2 of them were kids in their first FULL season when Simon took over. I dont think the Coach can start patting himself on the back about those 2 just yet. Sample size for this year is just too small for anyone to say whether a player has improved or not this year, so i havent bothered to factor in much from this year, other than maybe saying that Trac has shown SOME signs of getting better. Not much for Goodwin to hang his hat on is there? Maybe 3 players who have improved, and each of them arguably stagnated or went backwards last year. I still think the Coach is a fraud.

Through different eyes
The happy clappers will be the first to tell us, in 30 years time when (if) we next win a premiership... SEE, I TOLD YOU SO !! I have heard this same crap for over 50 years and the same crowd were wrong then. The evidence shows this current lot have the same lack of Football I.Q. We are not winning a flag with the current list under the current coach with the current game plan. if you think otherwise you are a footy nuffie. Be patient !!! get [censored]

Demonland Podcast Featuring Glen Bartlett Wednesday 1/7 @ 8:30pm
Is extra heat being applied to Goodwin regarding wins, when we are cap-in-hand to members again? Does he (Goodwin) still have the full confidence of the board? If so, Why? (Joking) Does the club understand how angry the base are becoming with our performances? Do the players have a handle on that same question? Do we have a future in the league if members dont bail out the club? How do we afford a home base if we already cant pay the bills? Does the club understand how angry the base are becoming with our performances? How does he convince members who are losing faith to donate money in these extreme times? Does anyone still think 2019 was the abberation? Does the club understand how angry the base are becoming with our performances.

Most Frustrating Team in the AFL
How on Earth do we expect to develop anyone with the absolute Chump we have in charge? I struggle to name a single player who has become consistently better since he took over the reigns. Can you think of anyone other than maybe Petracca? Even then he has only been a flash in the pan who we HOPE has turned the corner. Anyone else? I really cant think of anyone immediately who is a better player for having been coached by Goodwin. He hasnt exactly turned them into spuds, but surely there should have been a noticeable improvement in the majority of the list in the last few years. Its easy to argue the opposite has happened. Yes, im frustrated.

GAMEDAY: Rd 04 vs Geelong
If the team want supporters to believe in them, they have to start beating decent teams regularly. We have had enough "learnings" We have had enough opportunities to "Bounce back" We have no excuses left. Today, in our financial position, this is a must-win. They want donations, the fans want victories.. Still, this is Melbourne, so i dont see us getting the choccies.

What they're saying down at Kardinia Park
I wish this site was as considered as the views in the OP. I didnt shake my head at a single post. The other footy club supporters arent as dumb as some on here think. The Cats should be fairly confident this week, but they arent exactly OTT with their predictions. Thumbs up to them i guess. "What have Melb ever done - well they won a premiership in 1964 - then won their opening 8 games in 65 ( and then spectacularly crashed ) and thats about it - havent done anything since of note" That post has particular significance. The truth hurts.

Proud to Belong, Proud to Give
A few weeks back i got a skinfull and sent an email to the club offering to make a donation. Never got a reply. This just [censored] me off, especially when i was sober. The club had a an offer of extra money and they didnt follow up. Unforgivable really. Since then i have received bills for A : Car insurance $650 B : Rego $716 C : Car repairs $1500 (Thermostat housing and a couple of other smaller jobs. Its a 120,000 klm car ok) D : Set of Tyres $720 Im a part time Nurse who, while one of the lucky ones to still have a secure job, isnt on a huge quid. ( I feel for the poor ba5tards who are out of work, or constantly worrying if their job will be there next week) The club should have struck while the iron was hot, and i still had whiskey left. I would love to get one of the jumpers, i really would. Maybe i could use the retention bonus that Aged care workers are supposed to get over the next few months. Come on Demonlanders, convince me to spend the dough. Should i just say "What the hell" and spend the $250 even though im a tight-[censored] who still cant trust the Club perform like it should after so many rebuilds? Maybe i should just say "if we win the next 2 games i will buy one" or some [censored] like that. Come at me.

Where are we at?
We are miles off. One of the worst forward lines in the league atm. Backline has some good names, but is almost as dysfunctional. Midfield looks pretty good, and that is where most premierships are won, but we badly need a few of them (our mids) to become regular goal kickers for us to be some sort of threat. This current list still needs to be churned over the next few off-seasons. I had my fingers crossed a couple of years back that we were In the window, but each step forward is such a tiny one. There have been no great gains for a long time. If you are waiting for this group to just "Click" you are barking up the wrong tree i reckon. Too many who still want to run one way, and no on-field leadership other than Max, unless you count all the Finger-pointers as leaders. Where are my anti-depressants......?

Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed
AFL might well see that as their chance to slip in the missed game against Essendon if we are sent back over to WA along with EFC. Would mean we get to come back one week earlier than the others as we wouldnt have to play WCE. So many different permutations to work through though.... no idea how that might work. Absolute cluster-[censored] of a season. Should have been put out of its misery already.

Intra-Club Game: Round 3

Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed
Look on the bright side.... North wont get pick 1 *if the season ends up being cancelled

What they're saying down at Windy Hill (Pregame)
They have every right to feel confident about Sundays game. We went missing after 1/2 way through the second Qtr against an undermanned Carlton and the less said about round 1 the better. EFC's wins have both been by small margins, but they have also not spent a minute of either of those games behind on the scoreboard. Add in our completely dysfunctional forward line and they should start favorites. It might be a good game.

Ricciuto on Lever
Which is why i said "we could have tried". Yes he initiated the trade by asking if one could be worked out with C'Wood, but we didnt exactly bend over backwards to keep him. Lever has not been worth anything like the price we paid so far. Most AFL fans would recognise that as a reasonable summary based on what the has produced for us to date. We can always just keep crossing our fingers though. No harm in hoping for the best.

Ricciuto on Lever
Could have tried to keep Howe on half that amount. That sort of money for an unaccountable intercept marker is insane. He has a LOOOONG way to go to prove he was worth that much Will probably end up being one of the worst deals MFC ever made considering the price in $$'s and draft picks. Hindsight 'eh. ?

Doesnt matter Skuit. As has already been pointed out, neither of them are in Fyfes league.
