The Hawks gave up Ryan Burton for Wingard, now looking to trade for Frost... I would have stayed with Burton. Frosty off to his third club, he’s fun to watch and gives his all but I’d be surprised if he had too much improvement in him, especially from a ability to use the ball under pressure. I will miss him and his speed.

I just thought the Frawley link was to obvious and had been mentioned before. Impey and Wingard have “improved” out of sight as players as well. Win some, you lose some, the Hawks player development is the big difference compared to the Dees.

If you had a multi of that plus Dees to win the flag and Jamie Elliot to the win the Norm Smith for us, I’d say you’d have all bases covered.

Having seen Barnes and Smith play and Parkin coach you really feel for those players. I clearly remember seeing both Barnes and Smith terribly concussed and it was just part of the game. Imagine if Lockett did what he did to Smith and Caven today, he’d be justifiably banned for a very long time yet it was ok/lionised not that long ago. Biffs, bumps and brawlers.... god that hasn’t aged well yet again, loved it at the time. The league pushing the thuggery of the time. Parken’s comments are enlightening as I’ve not heard many coaches say they pushed players back onto the park like that.
