  1. Time for a clue? Why not. The answer is associated with that one day in September.
  2. He had to give that up as it was too expensive to keep replacing all those drowned ponies. PS. He should go well in the wet.
  3. @layzie has burst out of the blocks and sprinted down the straight to breast the tape in first spot. @La Dee-vina Comedia was hot on his heels but will have to settle for runner-up in this contest.
  4. We're facing a long wait until our next game. Let's kill some time before we kill the Pies. This team of past and present Demon players goes right back to the 1950s. Some are better known than others. In a return to traditional values, there is just a 19th and 20th man and none of this new-fangled interchange and substitute nonsense. What common factor unites all these players? Answers in a PM only please! =========================================================== B: Glenn Boland John Beckwith Ken Roberts H/B: Jake Bowey Steven Icke Cameron Hunter C: Lloyd Burgmann Chris Connolly Lachie Hunter H/F: Kyle Dunkley Brad Miller Angus Brayshaw F: Charlie Spargo Garry Lyon Xavier Tanner R: Shane Grambeau Stewart Gull Paul Goss 19th: Ken Rollason 20th: John Reid
  5. A shifter is a tool isn't it?
  6. Regardless of who wins out of GWS and Richmond today, Carlton will finish the round in 14th place. If that's not the cellar, it's knocking on the cellar door.
  7. I'd have to disagree on that one, @Jaded No More. He had plenty of space, the goals were wide open, the angle was favourable for his left foot and the chances of kicking it were high IMO. Fritta did exactly what he is paid to do.
  8. Oliver to come back via Casey?
  9. That was always a week for Harmesy. No news is good news re Jack Viney's tackle?
  10. West Coast wouldn't do anything like that. They've lost all their matches.
  11. I wonder what their fans saying on the Carlton forum.
  12. Great song, but that lyric's from "Frontier Psychiatrist" (both songs on their debut album).
  13. I'd be more concerned with the whereabouts of the bouncer.
  14. You must be a kid. Common in old Hollywood movies and early American TV. The saying has been around since the 1800s and was a sarcastic response to Darwin's Theory of Evolution.
  15. Big Jimma has been scratched from tomorrow's race, alas. It's most unlike his namesake to miss a match.
  16. Did anybody else do a double-take when they saw that Essendon picked up a player called Jaiden Hunter in the mid-season rookie draft this week?
  17. I've seen various posters claim that we have a hard run home (somebody even said we have the hardest) and others say it's an easy run home. According to this article, we have neither and are right in the middle of the difficult/easy fixture table. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/the-run-home-which-afl-clubs-have-the-hardest-and-easiest-draws-20230601-p5dd3w.html
  18. Guess or inside info?
  19. Despite the rumours, neither were selected in tonight's draft. They both must feel frustrated at being so close but still not on an AFL list.
  20. The AFL has just issued this official press release regarding their involvement in the Hawthorn affair.
  21. Tom Hickey has already been to the barber.
  22. They were taken in the 2022 Rookie Draft.
  23. A syndicate consisting of several former Melbourne players have bought a racehorse and called it "Big Jimma" in honour of Jimmy Stynes. The horse will have its debut this Saturday in the first race on the card at Flemington. Go you good thing! In a nod to Jim's Irish heritage and Demon career, the jockey will wear the following colours.
  24. I don't know that this latest development proves anything one way or the other apart from the AFL being very keen on sweeping potentially embarrassing matters under the rug and protecting their brand. Suspect we haven't heard the last of this and there is still more to be played out.
  25. I'd be wearing the thickest socks I could find if somebody was biting at my ankles. Maybe even two pairs.
