  1. If he goes earlier, I'd put money on the phrase "Phoenix rises" being trotted out.
  2. Max and Brodie article from today's 'Age'. (Ignore the link title) https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/collingwood-skipper-takes-aim-at-aflw-semi-final-scheduling-blues-afl-pair-on-the-mend-20221108-p5bwdl.html
  3. He coached us to a flag only last year so I think he might know what he's doing. To me he'll always be Simon the Likeable.
  4. How good does that jumper look without all the different AFL and sponsors' logos on it?
  5. One of those words that mean something completely different to what many people incorrectly assume. Laconic definition: Using as few words as possible; pithy and concise. The definition of laconic refers to someone who doesn't talk a lot or uses very few words.
  6. It's a footy fan forum. People are going to post their opinions and thoughts.
  7. I always thought that Tom Waits should release an album titled "For No Man".
  8. This is what happens when you Google lab + puppy + fat.
  9. Jack Dyer claimed he was responsible for the longest ever kick in VFL history when he accidentally roosted one from the Glenferrie wing onto a passing goods train and the footy ended up in Lilydale.
  10. It's an essential component of pre-season training.
  11. Occam's razor. The Match Committee didn't think he was ready for AFL level.
  12. That may well be the case. I'm taking my cue from the expression on his teammates' faces.
  13. Remember this image of JG impressing Moloney and Nicholson with his lifting prowess?
  14. It's pretty close to the truth, Timothy.
  15. I reckon, in the wake of Jackson going home, that the whole "WA flight risk" thing has been overblown. Apart from Jesse Hogan, who we weren't sorry to see leave the club, I can't think of any other Demon who has asked to be traded back to WA since Jeff Farmer twenty years ago.
  16. Bring back the 19th and 20th man. These were my specialist positions in under 12s.
  17. The bloke who introduced all the instruments on Tubular Bells was Viv Stanshall, better known from his work with the wigged out Bonzo Dog Band, AKA The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. This is their hilarious take on the concept of introducing band members one by one. It may take more than one listen!
  18. Yep, that was the gig and it was a good 'un. He played a lot of material from "Odelay" which was his most recent album (the next, the equally fine "Mutations" followed later that year IIRC).
  19. Forgot about Mick! I saw him in the early-mid 80s at a venue in the Upper Esplanade, St Kilda, playing with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, the band from whence he was recruited by the Rolling Stones in 1969 to replace Brian Jones.
  20. Ha! There is no band/artist we have both seen! edit: Pretty sure that Soundgarden played at one of the Big Day Outs (Big Days Out?) that I attended in the early 90s along with myriad other bands.
  21. Let's brag about international acts we've been to see ... and that we can remember! I have attended gigs by The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Bob Marley, Radiohead, Madness, Ian Dury, Grace Jones, Joe Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, Elvis Costello, Beck (not Jeff!), Marianne Faithfull, Billy Bragg, The Cramps, Nick Lowe, The Ramones, Iggy Pop, Primal Scream and (UK) Squeeze.
