What annoys me and it happens almost every game
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to Dusty_Hill's topic in Melbourne Demons
The Johnson decision was disgusting and showed a total lack of understanding of the game. Umpires are going to make mistakes. Not understanding that sheparding a ruckman from getting to the contest is aganist the rules is totally unacceptable. I would love to hear Gieshen defend this. Tool -
I was only 6 in 1987 so I have no memories of Robbie Flower playing He is heralded as one of the all time greats, and reading the 1987 article, i notice he kicked a lot of goals that year; bags of 5 and 6 seemed regular, and in his last year of football too? Did he need to retire? How many goals did he actually kick? Who would you liken him to a s a modern day player? I appreciate everyones thoughts. I'm a big believer we need the priority picks, but I also can't wait for next year where we can return to the unadulterated passion of winning games of football and pushing for a flag!

North Ballarat v Casey Scorpions
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to Lil_red_fire_engine's topic in Melbourne Demons
Congratulations to everyone for this being the funniest thread I have read in a long time. -
Will we win the flag this year.... Still a no for my mind, as honourable as yesterday was Picks 1 and 2 before the Gold Coast and West Sydney concessions are worth 10 times their weight in gold. Last 2 weeks have been fantastic, periods of great development with no chocolates to rue at years end. We will create a winning culture NEXT year and beyond

The game he played yesterday reminded me of a game Joel Selwood played in his first season against us at he MCG when he was a late replacement for Nathan Ablett pulling out. I was amazed at how someone with then only 7 I think games experience could appear so composed and read the game so well. No-one is lauding Joel Selwoods speeed, however most people recognize him as being one of the future absolute elite. Jack tested a 16.1 beep test in his TAC year, so his endurance is elite. Will definetely be playing midfield in the future.

Lets call this the 2012 model? Hows the skill and speed in that team? Anyone who thinks we don't need to win 4 or less games...

Players safe from being poached by the Gold Coast

I knew there had to be a reason Something to hang noto in those 50 - 70 minute periods during a game where he doesn't go near the leather -
Team selection vs Bulldogs
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to Einstein's topic in Melbourne Demons
haven't they read our 'Bennell will make Andrew McLeod look slow and sloppy by foot in 3 years time' post? Seriously though, you wouldn't want to be playing well for us. Anyone who has played any semblence of decent footy gets struck down by injury. -

If there was a Round 4 Trade Week
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to Mousey's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think we need to make a stance here and all agree that when you ae talking about any players 'potential' in their 6th year at the club, you need to let go and face the facts. Anyone who honestly thinks Colin Sylvia is going to play more than 2 'good' error and judgement free accountable games for our club each year within 8 weeks of eachother, can kindly hand over what you're smoking beceause I want some! Potential is a word we use to describe someone who hasn't had an opportunity yet ad is in the first 3 years of their career (Ruckmen and raw key positon players not included - See packs for details) -
If there was a Round 4 Trade Week

I would trade Colin Sylvia for 20c -
Thanks for your support!
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to Andrew Mamonitis's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hey Andrew Is there anything we need to do when purchasing to align to your sales targets, or will that just happen automatically? -
You drive a hard bargain. Better swing 5 more years for Martin whilst you're at it

Colin, Colin, Colin...

Aint that the truth -
Colin, Colin, Colin...
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to Kiss of Death's topic in Melbourne Demons
The biggest favour we could do Colin is not play him until he's in our best 22 in performance and application. Not even close currently. Yes we would get nothing for Colin in a trade period. That is because you have to give something away to get something And before anyone says it isn't even round 1, it's round 66 since the start of 2006. People have hardly been resting on their laurels with this one -
In the North Melbourne match, did a few good things, kicked a nice goal, and then turned a simple ball over for a goal, and let a 5 year old girl run around him and kick a goal without offering more than a whimper. Hope he proves e wrong, but I don't think he has what t takes when the going gets tough

You would have to think that with Stynes networking the way he is, and bringing everyone everyone back to the club, for the club, we have to be in a decent position to turn our club around, with everyone working together.

DUAL MAJOR SPONSORS ON THE WAY
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to rumpole's topic in Melbourne Demons
The supermarket division won't sponsor for the exact reasons that Rhino has mentioned. Dick Smiths sponsors Richmond Dan Murphy's pulled out of its sponsorship deal with Carlton because they no longer saw value for money Big W may fall into the same boat as the supermarkets, not wanting to alienate anyone. Coles Myer on the other hand has a couple of great alternatives. First Choice, their answer to Dan Murphy's, practically identical in concept has no profile and little patronage, despite the business model being very sound. AFL sponsorship for them I feel would be the best $1,000,000 they could spend. -
DUAL MAJOR SPONSORS ON THE WAY
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to rumpole's topic in Melbourne Demons
Perhaps we don't want Dan Murphy's? Its always been a joke around our company that Dan Murphy's sponsored Collingwood for 1 season in 1999 and 3 or 4 years recently, and until that final season of the Carlton Sponsorship where they finished 14th I think, they were 4 wooden spoons from 4 attempts. Funny whilst we were sponsoring the filth and visy... not so funny sponsoring us -
Please correct me f I'm wrong, however I don't think everyone is frustrated with Colin because of his large lack of ability, everyone is frustrated about his mental preparation, and nonchelance about his and his teams constant non performance. I hurt more after losing a game of squash wih a mate than Colin does after butchering an attempt on goal which eventually would have won us the game.

Do you have a right hand? Hasn't been in our best 22 ever. Plays no specific rle, and doesn't bleed for our club. I hope I'm wrong, but i can't help but feel in the years to come when everyone matures, we will be 'close' to success, but rue never tradng the likes of Colin Sylva for a mid 20s draft pick, year after year after year. Now I haven't watched the game becuse of work commitments, so I'm being presumptious, but I'm presuming we threw away a 33 point lead because of a lack of leadership around the ground under pressure?

2009.. The Revolution begins..
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to Tolstoys Nudge's topic in Melbourne Demons
I reckon by round 22, Strauss might find himself in the QB role. For a forward line recognised as the weakness, Brad Green would at least add some semblence of danger to it. By Round 22, I picture this B: Strauss, Frawley, Garland HB: Petterd, Martin, Rivers C: Morton, McLean, Davey HF: Bate, Miller, Bruce F: Woenamirri, Watts, Green R: Johnson, McDonald, Dunn B: Moloney, Maric, Jones, Jamar Emergencies: Grimes, Sylvia, Jetta, Whelan Bailey is assembling a team with great foot skills. Watch out Buckley, Jones, Moloney, Bartram I love them all so I hope there is some serious improvement in hitting targets in 09 -
I'm just glad Rivers isn't an animal. With his track record, he would have been put down a long time ago. Someone needs to buy him a bubble to stay inside of.
