DEMONS READY TO ROLL PRESEASON
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to H_T's topic in Melbourne Demons
Any game the Jared plays now, I fear is a bonus. I like the sticker idea, would Vlad let us use them in games as well? hmmm, if he won't let a club wear yellow arm bands for a cancer awareness appeal... -
Carlton Salary Cap (do they have one)?
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to Redleg's topic in Melbourne Demons
If the salary cap is there to protect the 'evenness' of the AFL, how is it possible that Carlton can be getting away with what EVERYONE clearly knows they are doing.. This is why Demetrou should be embarrassed every time he looks in the mirror each morning. I wouldn't be suprised if Judd wasn't on minimum wage with a 2,000,000 retainer from VISY. -

Cale Morton - Rising Star nomination
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Can't wait to see what he can do when he actually grows into his body. -
If this is true, West Coast must be leaning towards NikNat. Currently, I see danger written all over NikNat and Watts. Both could be superstars. Both could not. I don't think any of the top 3 are neccessarily better than the other; they are all totally different players. I'd do the swap; would also take the pressure off Watts being the no1 pick if he falls to us @ 3 Hope Hutchy is right. Also, I don't understand why people want to waste our PSD pick on Warnock when we can get him using other means, and leave it for another uncontracted star, who we probably can't trade for. Am I missing something? Help me out!

Today was painful, so I'm going to look at who will be in our best starting 22 by Round 1 next year who was UA today through injury. Aaron Davey, Jared Rivers, Brock McLean, Brent Moloney, Mark Jamar, Paul Johnson, Stephan Martin, Russell Robertson, Chris Johnson, Lynden Dunn, Matthew Bate. Add Robert Warnock, + a no1 draft pick to get excited about at Casey... Nope still depressing.
-
Could have been anything if he could kick. Great hands, and a sensational clubman from all reports Good luck Benny
-
I agree, I think both Bate and Dunn aren't anywhere near 100%
-
Thats what I think he's saying.... I'm running out of finger nails. If we staff this up, it's a long way up. This is our chance for a marquee player
-
How old are you? No need to get personal, no-one was having a crack at you... a little insecure? Firstly, Why not trade with Fremantle, so we can use our pick in the pre season draft on someone else Secondly, Carlton will be extremely interested in Brad Green, and no, they won't take Meeson, as we were the only club silly enough to do this, but don't be suprised if a deal like this is struck, if Carlton believe they are close, and lets face it, they are a team of first round draft picks, they will be looking to make hay whilst the sun shines out of Chris Judd's butt Secondly, if Prismall wants to play regular football next year above what his current contract provides, (think long and hard before you answer this, I know there's a lot to think about) he will ask to be traded, or will put himself in the preseason draft, and we will take him there. Please tell me you're not part of our recruiting department. Let me guess, you were giving high 5s all round when we re-signed Yze at the end of 2006? Someone else has said it before, I support Melbourne. I support the 22 players who run out on the ground each week. I don't care who they are, or who they aren't as long as they take us to the ultimate glory. Have some fun, don't take yourself so seriously.

I think it's foolish to think that both Green and Bruce will be at Melbourne next year, given the current climate... B: Garland, M Warnock, Chris Johnson CHB: Rivers, Martin, Davey C: Morton, McLean, Wheatley CHF: Petterd, Paul Johnson, Maric FF: Woenamerri, T Boyle, Bruce R: R Warnock, B Prismall, L Dunn IC: M Bate, M Jamar, J McDonald, B Moloney Emergencies: J Watts (Only 17) C Bartram, N Jones, S Buckley, J Frawley, M Newton, M Whelan, J Grimes, C Sylvia, R Robertson Pick 8, Pick 17, Pick 19, our other kids from next year Retired: White, Yze, Holland, Neitz Delisted: Bode, Weetra, Trades: Pick 8 in ND in exchange for Brad Green and John Meeson to Carlton (Meeson looks a star next to Ackland) Trades: B Prismall from Geelong in return for our last pick in the ND (Ref Deals done on King and Gardiner last year) Trades: R Warnock from Fremantle in exchange for Nathan Carroll and Daniel Bell (Fremantle are fun to trade with) PSD: T Boyle from Hawthorn (Not sure if this is plausible, but why let the truth get in the way of a good story)
-
Even then he showeds more than Bell. I'm not quite sure what has gone wrong with Belly.
-
Dunn has been dropped due to there not being a suitable matchup for him as our number 1 tagger... There is no-one left to tag! Rumour has it that Bailey has actually sent him to Perth hospital to keep an eye on the West Coast midfield.
-
Very handy You would think there has to be someone looking to associate themselves with our rennaisance.
-
Am I the only person who finds it hard to believe that we wouldn't have moved Pmac on if we didn't have a replacement organized already?
-
SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh The AFL might be reading, and knowing our luck, this year would be the year they launch a new initiative! Take our number 1 draft pick + Priority and leave quietly. Hush now
-
What does he bring?
-
While not quite as bad as last year...
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to deanox's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not to mention Jamar in lieu of White -
What about Jamar and Bruce to Carlton for their first pick 7?ish
-
I don't know that he will be a very fine player - I certainly hope he will be! I just think it's pointless recruiting 17yr old key position players and delisting them when they are 20. How many 20 year old KPP are dominating this year after having missed half the season through injury? We owe it to ourselves to give Juice another 2 and see what Bailey and co can do to address his flaws in the pre season. I've said it once and I'll say it again, tough crowd around here. I thought Juice showed plenty late last year.

I think Sylvia wantsa to succeed I just don't think he's really prepared to put in the work and make the personal sacrifices which will allow him to succeed I don't see him wanting to work at it. -
Didn't all 4 King brothers play in Ringwood's premiership side last year in the premier league PS... I could have just made this up; not sure, but I think it's true
-
The whole team could do with this 2 week off and then kick to kick until November 1. How good would it be if someone could teach him (and everyone else) how to kick. He moves really well.
-
The kid is 15kg off his eventual playing weight, his skills are more than fine, he is just adjusting to the pressure of playing against men in the best league possible. 20 touches and 2 goals for an 18 year old in his 14th or so game of football is not that bad. Tell me, What DO you want from Cale Morton this year, and next year for that matter? When Jack Watts doesn't kick 50 koals at CHF next year, are you going to talk about him not being as sure with his hands as you'd expect from a no1 pick and raise concerns about him also? There were 22 players out there yesterday who were disgraceful after quarter time. Lets cast aspersions over the 18 year old eh? Be concerned in 2010 when we are 10 and 3 and it's still happening; until then, enjoy the ride.
