Lynden Dunn....a dilemma
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to Jumping Jack Clennett's topic in Melbourne Demons
Spot on! He is young, playing out of his normal position on the best players going around each week, and like Morton earlier in the year, I'm sure he's embarrassed. He's a league footballer FCS, I'm sure Bailey and Co will know how to get the best out of him without dropping him. -

Getting rid of the $4.5 million dollar debt?
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
No, you didn't donate your money. You have JOINED a club. A GREAT club. You are a MEMBER of the Melbourne football club. If you didn't pay your extra money, you wouldn't be a member of our great club. Due to work, I struggle to get to games. I don't try to financially justify my purchase any other way than saying 5 bucks a week. Proudly tell your friends you are a MEMBER of the Melbourne football club. Something you couldn't say if you were only a member of the Melbourne Cricket Club. -
Not really, but fortunately Fremantle is part of the AFL trade period, so anything happens. Any club who has traded away Peter Bell, Jeff Farmer, Andrew Mcleod, Trent Croad, Number 1 draft picks, Paul Medhurst, all for essesntially nothing in return, has to be our friend come trade period. You wouldn't be afraid to offer anything across the table. Sylvia and Green to Carlton for pick 10 Green has been awesome this year, I'd hate to see him go, however it's tough decisons like these that HAVEN't been made in the past that have us sitting wher we are at the moment. Should have traded heavily after 2006. Fremantle might take Yze for pick 3!

Selling home games to Canberra in 09?

4 games would bring in close to 1.5 million. Got any better ideas to bring in that sort of dough? We could break even! -
Getting rid of the $4.5 million dollar debt?
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
These are all great ideas, and they could legitimately wipe our debt, and quickly, but it doesn't address any of the issues that continue to drive us further into debt. The business this year will operate at a loss of over 1 million. If we want to survive, we need to teach all our Melbourne supporting friends who are not members, that being a member of this club is something to be proud of, win lose or getting hammered, and that it is important that you become a member. Not to become a member when we win a sufficient enough amount of games which means that you will go to maybe 5 or 6 and then it is beneficial financially to buy a membership. Basically, we are suggesting to sustain ourselves into the future, we should base ourselves on 28,000 members paying $320, instead of $160 Remember we are the club that cant convince the majority of our MCC members to take out a full membership instead of the $40 half arse crap. FWIW I would happily donate more money, I just want our club to be sustainable. -
Whose injury concerns are disastrous and a key reason why we are struggling at the cold end of the ladder. I would like to think we would not be foolish enough to bring another injury prone player in. I love Rivers, one of the reasons I attend matches, think he's an absolute beauty. He Can't get on the park for more than 4 weeks in a row. Successful teams don't have injury prone players. You don't go out of your way to trade one onto your list

Yeah, great, we could pay all his hospital benefits for the next 3 yeards whilst 15 other clubs, LAUGH at us. Is good for 10 games a season, none of them being good. His awareness is so poor, he doesn't even know where he is when he wakes up in his own room in the morning.

LOL Groin tablets? -
I couldn't agree more Deanox, and the number of occassions, especially in the first quarter where we laid super tackles, after they had an opportunity to get rid of the ball and play was called made me want to vommit! Such a simple rule, and it wasn't being paid, and it was all one way traffic whom these calls were benefitting.

Bailey- From the Backline Up
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to Roost It's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think our young backmen are also beneftting from having a gun ex key defender as the backline coach in Sean Wellman. Surely he must also be heaped with praise for his work in being able to get Knockers and Judy playing so well, this early on in their careers (under 10 games each) -
who is brave enough to go next week
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to dees189227's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't forget...WELCOME TO JUNE COLLINGWOOD! I'll be there with bells on, bring them on. They aren't that good, they are just playing with passion. If we can come with some intensity we're a chance. -

Brush suffers from the same problem as some of our other players. Coach writes all 18 positions down on a piece of paper and drops them in a hat. Whatever he pulls out first, That's where Dunny plays. Give the kid 10 solid weeks @ FF and I reckon we'd all be singing his praises

Looks a footballer to me. Thought his pressure was great, and I think he will play a lot of football for Melbourne. Don't wory about his height, midfielders don't all have to be 190cm The game is played on the ground also.

We could do worse, but can't give anything of value away for him. 40 - 50 pick at the most. And he did barrack for the Dees. The again, so did Chris Judd...

N. Jones & C. Bruce on the Footy Show
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to w00dy's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is quite obviously where we have gone wrong! Some of the players obviously couldn't afford to buy footballs and their skills are showing! Buy these boys a football and we will turn things around! Mark Jamar Clint Bartram Simon Buckley Cale Morton has brought his old football over from WA. How silky are his skills! I'm sure there are more that it is obvious they did not invest in a football this year! -
Don't ever underestimate Carlton's ability to roll over and play dead. They lost their last 14 last year remember. However I must say, I toasted an extra beer last night to the blue baggers. 2 to go, then they can lose as much as I like. Their team is built around selfish and false values; they will never be any good. We won't tank, we're just not capable of winning.
-
I love Jonesy but FFS I hope someone gives him a football and a friend (Preferably Clint Bartram) over the summer and gets them to play kick to kick for 8 hours a day. The kid could be anything if only he cleaned his disposal up!

Frawley relishing opportunities
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to JJJ's topic in Melbourne Demons
Has to play the rest of the year. I think he will be alright, if we do the right thing by him and give him a clear run at a position. -
It's only 4 in a row. I have been with my fiancee for almost 5 years and they have not won a Queens birthday clash in our time; much to her disgust. Ah, I'll alsways have Queens birthday. For what it's worth, Millers Chill is a chicks drink, Miller GD is water, and Chang is a good beer, but don't pay $43. $39.99 very day of the week at Dan Murphy's. Also, Sapporo, Asahi. etc are all overpriced clean dry asian beers. Nice but not at their price point.

Melbourne FC Under 23 All Stars!!!
Keepin up with the Joneses replied to a topic in Melbourne Demons
Imperitive this must be done. And for everyone getting all sentimental about Green, yes he could be a star, however he is being played out of position. We would get a first round draft pick for Green, as we did Johnstone. These are the tough decisions that should have been made 2 years ago.
