  1. No 9 takes alot of beating for mine. Absolute guns in Dixon, Alan Johnson, Neita and JT (Honourable meantions to Laurie Fowler and Darren Cuthbertson...) Gippy.
  2. It had been reported in The Age that he should resume training this week. Gippy
  3. This may be inaccurate as the twitter handle of @DemonsHQ is no longer our twitter handle. It is now @MelbourneFC As of today they have approx 10,400 followers at the new handle. Gippy
  4. I wonder if these guys are available again: http://snowymountain.com.au/ Gippy
  5. True, that and a 'Bring back Dean Chiron' thread...
  6. To hell with that! Recruit Jon Dorotich!
  7. Wayne Carey became captain of North when he was 21. There is no doubt that he grew into the role, and was one of the best captains (Excluding his sleeping with other team mates misseses) and one of the best in field. There is no doubt that it can happen, and with such a young and inexperienced list that we have I can't see why we couldn't give JT the captaincy. I for mine hope he gets it and remains a captain for the red and blue for the next 10 years... Gippy

  9. They did this and played it on a Saturday back in 2010. Took my son and we had a great time! Pretty good turn up there too from memory. I agree that it should be on a weekend... Pity, cos I would make the trip from Traralgon to go again if it wasn't on a wasn't on a weekday. Gippy
  10. I too got the #16 on the back of my new guernsey last season, the week prior to Grimes being injured against the Crows. I'm a big fan of Jack and the way he plays. I'm surprised we don't see more #16's around. My son has the #6 after we met Bater at the Intra-Club match in 2010. He gave my son a high 5 and he's loved Bater ever since. It was hard to advise him that Bater wasn't playing most of last season cos he was 'sick'... Hoping that both Grimes and Bater have much more sucessful seasons ahead. Gippy
  11. My interest is in Grimes this season. I got his number on my new jumper last year before he got injured. I don't care if he gets captain or not (which I doubt he will now), I just want him on the park. From what I've seen in the preseason, he has bulked up and looking in good shape. I hope he is setting himself up for a great season. My one wish is to see him have a prolonged stay without injury and string together some very consistent performances. Gippy
  12. I haven't got a problem with Eddie on the Footy Channel. He's a pure TV entity. Could be worse, it could be hosted by Anthony Hudson, Kevin Bartlett or Michael Christensen... ergh... Gippy
  13. Came across this video on You Tube of some biffs and hard knocks in the AFL/VFL. Couldn't help but notice a couple of clips in this video of Todd Viney losing it! Especailly the one where he jumps 'Harry' Madden. So, to create some conversation what are some your your favourite Biff and Bash moments? Gippy
  14. Please refer to Hawthorn in 2011 Preliminary Final. They have all the skills in the world but their low fitness base meant they couln't finish this game out. Classic case of ran out of legs. The fitness and running is pivotal in today's game. Especially against classy outfits like Collingwood. Gippy
  15. I'd be putting an easy $100 on the Hawks right now!
  16. My father tells me that he has repressed most of these years. And fair enough too! I was born in 83, so the games I remember we were on the up. Gippy
  17. Hey East Gippy Dee! Love lakes, we frequent up there every holidays and go prawning in the entrance. Love it. I'm actually in Traralgon myself. There is a lot of talent in Gippy and some very good examples have arisen in the past 10+ years. Back to Tynan, looking at his videos I think he moves very similar to an Andrew Mackie type. Would love to see if he develops like him too. Gippy
  18. A very happy Gippy Dee tonight as we welcome the first Gippy player to Melbourne in a long time! Josh comes pretty highly regarded and some people are fairly surprised that we was taken so late! Things are starting to come together! We have a Gippy Coach and a Gippy player. I'll sleep well tonight! :-) Gippy
  19. The year was 1991. Melbourne was due for a big season and Jim Stynes hadn't yet taken great strides towards his Browlow form. Come round 4, in a game against the Blue Baggers. My father had promised his 8 y/o To go to the football to watch his beloved Demons. My memories fail me a little, but it wasn't a great day weather wise but most likely better than most at Arctic Park. All I remember is Big Strabs getting injured and Jimma ripping it up against Harry Madden in a superb performance. And my best memory was Melbourne fans going crazy as we kicked 11 goals to 2 in the final quarter from being behind at te last quarter. Man, sometimes I miss Waverley Park. So easy for a Gippslander to get to! Gippy
  20. Can't tell the last time I heard someone call it the 'South East Freeway'. We used to call it the South East Carpark getting to games at the G. Was a bloody nightmare!
  21. This is excellent news from the MFC and a big pat on the back must be given to the board and the administration at the club. This is huge inroads to make the club finacailly stable and strengthen our position in the league. What we now can't afford is to be one complacent and allow the opportunity to grow and improve our off field and on field positions. What I can't wait for is for the MFC not to mentioned as a 'poor' club anymore! Gippy
