  1. A very disappointing effort by the clearly'underdone' Demons, but I reckon my top two are entitled to sleep well tonight: 6. Salem 5. Melksham 4. Fritsch 3. Harmes 2. Hunt 1. Oliver
  2. We raised the bar, and it's now time to meet the lofty standards we set for ourselves. It starts today! Kill 'em Demons!
  3. gwdees is solid.
  4. Well I don't know how to spell what I want to say about that idea. Bwuuukh?
  5. On a more positive note, KK expected to play VFL this week. Very happy with that one, at least.
  6. Genuine joy (love) from the playing group. You can't fabricate that! Great work Dees.
  7. RIP Ian. Re-joining some great team-mates from our golden era.
  8. A dampener on what has been a largely positive thread , but I've been thinking of Max in the context of yesterday's sickening events in Christchurch. Much too hard to put to the back of ones mind.
  9. Just sickening chook. Coincidentally, on the day that our Club announced that it is partnering with the Victorian Department of Education and Training and the Victorian Aboriginal Education Association to take a stand against racist bullying.
  10. A humble bloke who gave his absolute all for our Club. It would be totally unreasonable for any of us to expect more than that. Well done Cam!
  11. And it's Lever's second ACL on the same knee.
  12. There's a lesson to be learned somewhere in this saga. I hope it's well learned.
  13. As I said in my initial post Megatron, I'm not arguing the merit or otherwise of the decision, however I'm not convinced that all May did was block / body check or brace himself for contact. To my eye, May led with his shoulder and was off the ground at the point of contact. That was unnecessary, and likely to be costly.
  14. I'm extremely disappointed in the poor discipline shown by May (which is not unusual for him). Regardless of whether the decision is right or wrong, he should never have put himself in that position. It wasn't a show of strength, but rather a show of stupidity, which is likely to cost the team. Grrr.
  15. Salo always seems to find time and space to exercise his silky skills and football smarts, and his hardness belies his demeanour. He might fly under the radar a bit, but he's a unique and vital cog in our wheel. I'm rapt to have him on board.
  16. Of course Ernest, but we all know it will never happen, because: a) it makes too much sense for the AFL to cope with; b) the polls would tell them that club members would vote overwhelmingly for the status quo, and they couldn't cope with that either; c) 'democracy' (or anything approaching it), is not a word in the AFL lexicon.
  17. Say it LOUDER Ding! Gil obviously has a hearing problem.
  18. The genuine team spirit at our Club is enormous, and a critical part of our future. Love it!!
  19. Most top line players have a few special qualities that put them in a class of their own. Clarry has has a list of attributes which set him apart again. His awareness (sometimes seems like 360 degree vision), speed and almost flawless execution regardless of the situation and pressure around him, his elite footy IQ and is ability move quickly (and win) contest after contest, are qualities that are peerless among current AFL ranks. Match these qualities with the mutual understanding he has with the best ruckman the competition, and the sky is the limit for Clarry.
  20. We shall overcome, Mr Wallace!
  21. I agree that Fritta might get extra attention this year Chazz, but we have such a strong list that opposition teams won't be able to put extra time into everyone! Barring injury, I'd be surprised if Fritta doesn't play every game. I see him primarily as a wingman, but one who has proven flexibility to do well in a variety of positions. That's where his versatility will really come into its own.
  22. Just awe inspiring!
  23. I mentioned in an email to a Demon mate that there was a whisper going around that a new sponsor (BOJ) might be announced on Monday. His reply "Bank of Japan"?
  24. Rotten luck .... looked so innocuous.
  25. Way too many turnovers from 'hail mary' handpasses in tight situations ............ reminiscent of our AFL team of a few years back. And as others have said, we need a couple of defenders who can read the play, and put themselves in the right spots to defend. We were far too reactive in the back half, had poor strength in the contest and our marking skills were well down compared to Freo, and most other teams I saw across the weekend. Only Round 1, but it's a short season!
