  1. No thanks. It's far more important for our future to get games / experience into Spencer, Martin, Meesen and perhaps a youngster from this year's draft.
  2. Another very solid year IMO. For a few of seasons I thought Cam was heading for stardom, but I was a long way off the mark with that prediction. None-the-less, his consistency and work ethic, amidst a plethora of disappointing team performances over the last few years, has been excellent. Unfortunately he will never be a 'match breaker', but like most others around here, I just wish he could improve his disopsal by 10% or so.
  3. Like some others, I see a diminishing role for Junior in the midfield, even more-so if we pick up Luke Ball. IMO he will get less game time, but his contribution, including leadership, when playing in short bursts, will be valuable for another season. Like Rojik, I sincerely hope he retires at the end of 2010, as a player who has earned a spot on merit in our best 22.
  4. Age and injury robbed Paul of a place on our list for 2010. 2008 was probably his best year, but sadly he couldn't get onto the park in 2009 and that effectively ended his career. Tough business this AFL! He is an absolute gentleman to boot, and I'll certainly miss him in the red and blue. Good luck Paul, in whatever you do!
  5. Yep. IMO she's one of the most insightful footy journos going 'round.
  6. If we can establish some confidence about his ankle / hammy problems, I'd prefer to take a punt on Smith ahead of Ball in the PSD .................... but I wouldn't risk a pick on either of them in the ND.
  7. 1. Davey 2. Moloney 3. Warnock 4. Frawley 5. Bruce Most improved: Frawley Best first year: Jurrah Clubman: Davey
  8. Yep. 2004 to 2006 perhaps.
  9. Couldn't agree more 'bub!!
  10. Disappointing year injury-wise after the 'controversy' this time last year. IMO he has important leadership and 'example setting' roles to play with our young list over the next couple of years. He has proved that he can be a strong contributor both back and forward, as well as (to a lesser extent) in the middle. He will be a very important player for us in the short / medium term, and I expect that he will be used in a variety of positions, as the need arises.
  11. Love it!
  12. Injuries have hindered Tom's progress, but IMO he showed enough in '09 to warrant his retention next year. He is still very young, and I reckon he has more upside than most of the others who are being touted as possible delistings. I hope he will be rookie listed at the very least.
  13. Very hard to disagree with that assessment.
  14. It seems that 'Juice' has run out of confidence in front of goal, and sadly, I'm running out of confidence that he will make the grade.
  15. Frustrating indeed!! Has always looked like he could be a footballer, but injuries and lack of awareness have cruelled him from the start. Unfortunately, it's nigh on impossible to teach awareness, and some players are just injury prone.
  16. It was great to see Riv. overcoming his injury woes, but IMO he is still a fair way off his best. Still has his trademark courage, ability to read the play and his marking / spoiling ability, but I think he may have lost a yard and his disposal let us down at some critical times during the season. IMO he is now clearly behind Frawley and Warnock as a tall defender, and if Garland returns to the backline, his place in our best 22 might be in doubt come the end of 2010. Let's hope he benefits from a full pre-season and returns to his very best next year.
  17. Tear jerking stuff. The blend of the nostalgia and the new is delightful. The music is a perfect match.
  18. Consistent and always hard working. Disposal and decision-making seemed to improve as the year progressed. Great that he's been injury free. Back close to his best and seems to be thriving on increased leadership responsibility. A good year Beamer. Looking forward to further progress in 2010.
  19. Huge improvement on recent years. Well done MFC!
  20. Only showed a few 'glimpses' in '09, but that's a few more than the previous year. 2010 will be 'make or break' for John.
  21. Great! Well done to all involved.
  22. Fetta has improved greatly in the last 12 months. In 2008 he struggled to hold a regular spot in Sandy seniors, and this year he played more than half his games for Melbourne. Like some posters above, I'm not sure where he fits into our long term future, but continued improvement along the lines already shown will see his claims for regular selection in 2010 hard to deny. May turn out to be one of those 'good' AFL players whose work ethic, reliability and consistency enable them to compensate for some fairly obvious deficiencies, although I acknowledge that there are fewer of them at the top level as every year goes by.
  23. I wish the newspapers would write like this Oracle.
  24. Well spoken Millsey.
  25. Yep. For me, the better half and the kids and their partners. That takes care of a good portion of my Christmas shopping!
