  1. I agree. The second best thing, but even sweeter if it happens later in Seprember or early October.
  2. Definitely Froggy imo, but it surprised me a bit. I used to spend a fair bit of time in the change rooms way back then, and I never saw him smoking. On the other hand, I do recall that he and most of his team-mates loved to re-hydrate on a VB. Even in the 50's and 60's the importance of keeping the fluids up was regarded as paramount.
  3. Only two posts on this thread today, and 25 and climbing on the other one, so I thought I should do my bit to revive our flagging spirits with this little gem that I heard the other day: It seems that a new disease has been diagnosed in the US called 'Electile Dysfunction'. It's symtoms are the inability to become aroused over any of the potential Presidential candidates (Democrat or Republicans) for next year's election. A bit like the Dees 2011 season in a way ..... not a whole lot to get aroused about.
  4. Based on responses so far, Jack Hill the blind miner could see that the Dees will be the NBT!
  5. You'll give yourself a hernia (or worse), doing that Nash!
  6. I went for Martin in the end because of consistency over most of the season. Watts would be second on this basis, and I think Bail may have outstripped them both if his season hadn't been curtailed by injury. Trengove and Tapscott might also have attracted some votes if they had been included in the poll.
  7. The view of the game will be better at Adelaide Oval ML.
  8. My wife found it quite comforting to know that she's not married to the only one!
  9. I agree with that loges. He has been asked to take the #1 or #2 key forward role this year, and his slight body is not built for that. I'm very content with two goals a game in the circumstances (crappy delivery etc.), and I'm sure this will increase if he gets a better structure around him, and less attention from opposition key defenders. Having said that, there are aspects of LJ's game that he needs to work on, but I'm sure he would be well aware of them, and working hard to bridge the gap.
  10. Ditto, but I will follow the off-season developments with great interest. If we can get the critical decisions right, we could be back on track as early as 2012.
  11. It did work better yesterday, and probably also against Richmond. Would be interesting to see how effective it is against decent opposition. Todd credited Brian Royal with the new set-up in a post-match interview.
  12. I still believe in Santa Clause, you should too!
  13. Very true old dee, but it's great to see that Sam hasn't lost his pace and confidence to run and break lines, which were his hallmarks as a junior, and the reasons we drafted him.
  14. Now that would be special bobby. Sam certainly seems to have the Bluey's pace. Let's give him the #6.
  15. A promising debut from Tom. Cool under pressure and made good decisions.
  16. A very bland win today, mostly because there were few four quarter contributors. My votes: 6. Blease 5. Garland 4. Jones 3. Jamar 2. Moloney 1. Frawley Honourable mention to McDonald.
  17. Thanks once again for the comprehensive report KC. It's great to see Casey playing well at the business end of the season, and some of the young Demons showing positive signs for the future. I presume the A. Gianfagna listed in the best for the Bullants 2s, is the previously listed Demon.
  18. Senility old dee? I think it starts to set in at our age.
  19. KC has seen a great deal more of Fitz than I have monoccular, although its fair to say that none of us have seen as much as we would have liked, because he hasn't had many injury free runs in his short career. My 2c worth from the bits I have seen are that he is very quick and agile for someone around the 200cm mark. He seems to be a reasonable mark, but like most young talls, he needs to develop strength to hold his own in marking contests, especially against the big boys in the AFL. A full pre-season could work wonders. I think he will end up as a tall forward who does a bit of ruckwork within the fwd 50, and IIRC, that was Schwabby's view when I chatted to him. I'll be very interested in KC's view.
  20. Indeed. I'd love to land a really big fish!
  21. That's what we are all hoping for Rhino. I was chatting to Schwabby a while ago and he speculated that Fitz. would be a beauty, if he can get his goal kicking right. Four goals today, and a few bags for the twos earlier in the year, suggest that he might be coming on ok in that department.
  22. Great to see the way they played for their co-captain. That sort of spirit is what Aussie rules is all about.
  23. Couldn't agree more Redleg! I'm now really looking forward to the off-season, and those critical decisions which will probably determine whether our so-called 'window' opens any time soon. It's the first time I have ever longed for the season to end, and there have been some bloody dismal years in my 60+ years following our Club. I was chatting along these lines to my 35 year old son the other day (a more devoted Dee would be hard to find), and he reminded me that I had at least experienced the euphoria of winning some Flags, albeit a very long tome ago. It made me stop and think. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones!
  24. I 100% agree with the positives Dockett, but the bottom line is that we are a football club, and on-field results are what it's all about, and ultimately what really determines success or failure. Like you, I'm very hopeful that our Football Dept. will now become the primary focus, and with Garry Lyon currently overseeing things, I have plenty of confidence that it will. I can also totally understand any frustration on Shwabbies part. Many of us supporters share similar frustrations.
