  1. Geez ...... and I thought the Wagner thread was the musical one!
  2. To use a Paul Roos description, 'he is what he is'. One thing Jack Watts will never be is the key position star that we all hoped for when he was drafted. I suspect one thing Jack Watts will always be is frustrating ..... and so it was in 2014. With ball in hand he is clean and highly skilled, an asset to the team. Without the ball he's a 'passenger' with a seemingly low work rate and lack of intensity at the contest. Some say that he would be a very good player in a good team. I have my reservations. Even the most gifted players in top teams need to 'go' when their turn comes around! I expect he will still be at Melbourne in 2015, continuing to frustrate as he always does. He is what he is, and he will never be what he isn't.
  3. Another great year from Chunk (his best yet?), capped off by a record equaling third consecutive Bluey. Nothing more needs to be said ....... except perhaps to ask where would we be without him? No need to respond, we all know the answer to that question!
  4. First and foremost, CS is an all-round real footballer - not player we have drafted simply because he has a skill-set that fills a hole on our list. I like him a lot! None of his skills are elite (although they might develop to that level) but he does most things well. He has a touch of attitude, a bit of class, and shows a willingness to stand up for himself. For a kid in his debut season, coming off a limited and illness affected start, he was a real positive and earns 8 out of 10 from me (admittedly based heavily on that horrible word 'potential'). The Tyson / Salem deal is looking a real winner in my eyes. Two high class mids for one is exactly what the MFC needed.
  5. Strange but true: Every time I absentmindedly read through the list of Demonland topics and come to 'Mitch Clark Status' I see the words Santa Claus. Prophetic?
  6. I agree old dee, but if there was a sheep station or a bottle of red at stake, I'd hate to miss out on a technicality or a protest!
  7. N. Jones Tyson Dunn Vince Jetta Edit: clarified which Jones.
  8. Thanks to both for donning the red and blue. Although both would have seen the end looming, it would still be a tough pill to swallow. I reckon Clisby in particular would be doing it hard. This time last year he would have thought he had an AFL career ahead of him, now it's all over just as quickly as it started. Tough business, the AFL.
  9. Nev Jetta came from oblivion to be (imo) one of the first selected every week. Together with Nathan Jones and Dom Tyson, he has also been our most consistent since making his 2014 debut. Hard work and a great attitude beat talent 99% of the time.
  10. Fantastic news if Mitch thinks he might be (even) a slim possibility to play again ........... and it's bloody good for my morale as well! I desperately need a tonic to get me through to the trade period! Edit: add word.
  11. ....... yeah, but I suspect if we had rankings for work ethic, leadership, team focus and integrity, they would paint a more accurate picture of his true worth to the team over the same period.
  12. Salem had been feeling a bit 'off' and was ill during the warm up.
  13. I know what you mean Lamashtu, but I'd prefer to give it to Brad Scott.
  14. Doubt it, but Jack Watts will probably snag 7!
  15. Perhaps the 'assistants' role that was being contemplated for Cameron Ling, whatever that was.
  16. I'm far from convinced that I'll be going upstairs old dee, but I've made a pledge to anyone prepared to listen (which is not very many!) that I'm not leaving this world until we have number 13.
  17. Whately checked with the AFL today and confirmed that Mitch is still on Melbourne's list. The speculation was that it would take their first rounder for Freo to land him if the Dees were prepared to trade. I reckon it's all just a media beat up, but we can always hope ......... after all, that's all we have survive on these days.
  18. I believe you gsmith. If we had jumped on the bandwagon in 1987, we would sure as hell have jumped off again by now!
  19. Western Oval was the best place on the planet on the last Saturday in August 1987.
  20. This reflects what Paul Roos had to say in yesterday's post match presser, and it applies particularly to those players who had no, or limited pre-seasons. It makes some sense, or at least I'm gullible enough to buy into that line of thinking. ps. I'm only a supporter but I'm tired too, and very much looking forward to the off-season and the new hope that it will inevitably bring.
  21. Don't worry, the pain will end after next Saturday.
