Does he have a criminal record? News reports only say that he is being deported because he is allegedly a high ranking member of a Bikie Gang...

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
demoniac replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
It will be interesting to see the impact the rotations cap has on distances covered in a game which may impact young players still building their endurance base. Don't see why Oliver could not rest forward. His attack on the man and the ball combined with his marking and his ability both to fire out an hand ball or snap a goal would cause a few issues for defenders. -
I am no fan of bikie gangs but people should not be deported to their country of origin unless they are convicted of a crime. Innocent until proven guilty and all that.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER

Some light amusement from Talking Carlton poster 'buzzaaah' circa 25/11/2015... 'am hearing from a tres reliable source that Oliver is a bit of a gamble. His attitude problems led to him missing representation for the Vic Country squad. He improved somewhat by the end of the year but for a team that can't afford to miss, surprising to pass on Parish' I am not one for big statements but is Oliver the best handball exponent since Diesel? -

What's the 2017 list.. at some point clubs will seek to trade a free agent a year out if they get the right offer from a club the player wants to go to...

The contract renegotiation relates to the money Carlisle was due to receive from the additional services ie marketing cap. Fair to say Carlisle's marketing value to the Saints is nil.

It is a big deal if the cocaine is mixed with a PED and they get a 2 year (soon to be 4 year) ban. Post the 2 Pies players any AFL player who chooses to use cocaine is an idiot.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY
demoniac replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Toump was taken in the draft overseen by Todd Viney after Eddie made Jason Taylor serve out the final year of his contract as Derek Hine's deputy. Jason Taylor has overseen the subsequent drafts. Can't see any reason to keep Toump. Has shown no elite traits at AFL level and has not stood out at VFL level. -
Possibly upgrades on same though this time of year does lend itself to champs/chumps analysis.

See him regularly him on the tram to the G from the mean streets of Camberwell. Gotta love his passion for the mighty Dees.

Newton, Riley and Mitchie were cheap options to address in the short term our alarming lack of ball winners.

So Treloar had groin surgery in Tassie after his Pies medical but did not tell the club he is still contracted to about the surgery. Nothing to do with the Pies of course.

If Carlisle believes Saints offer is fair then that is a game changer. If he does end up in the draft it'd be a huge risk for a club to spend $600,000 on a seeming immature personality who may walk in the door disgruntled and stay disgruntled.
-
Maybe he is a sensible chap and does not want to return to Adelaide! Jason Taylor has hardly put a foot wrong with his 2 drafts. He was Derek Hine's deputy when the Pies picked Kennedy. That could be a factor, going to a club where you know a key figure in the footy department believes in you. That said it would not be Taylor's decision alone. It'd be a considered decision after an exhaustive footy dept process. he does have pace which we lack, is a penetrating kick and smart around goals.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY

If Treloar and Aish join the Pies that will not exactly help Kennedy's chances of being a regular in the Pies midfield in 2016. -
Josh Mahoney said yesterday that we view the Howe and Kennedy deals as separate negotiations. Time will tell!

This is Red Fox. Balls and The Wrecker activate now. -
Not against keeping Howe. It's really about the dollars. If we have a competitive midfield Howe playing in a forward line with Hogan, Garlett, Petraca, Kent for mine Howe would be a handful for an opponent. But that role ain't a top dollar role.

MoonShadow this is Red Fox. Please urgently move away from the Trade Table ... -
if I recall correctly Bastinac's best mate from his TAC Cup days was a certain multi millionaire in his mid 20s from Sydney's west... Bastinac is not quick and is not renowned for his hardness according to Kangas fans of my acquaintance.

VFL grounds are far more windy generally on account of the lack of stands. Makes for topsy turvy games.

Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...

I think some Dees fans have forgotten how bad we were when Roos took over. -
Delistings/trades at end of the season

But can they win a granny without a genuine key forward? There are risks involved so it was a gutsy deal for the Bullies but if he lives up to his potential then it will have been worth it. One variable will be the next media rights deal. If there is a substantial increase as per new overseas tv rights then the back end years of the deal may take up a smaller % of the cap than currently anticipated. And back to my first point. A quality key forward helps you win the Granny. Players want to win the Premiership. The Bullies having Boyd gives them a much better story to sell their own players and potential recruits. Loot at the NBA where the destination clubs are now the ones offering players a realistic chance at a title. -
Its pretty clear that unless you are protecting yourself from a collision that if you take action which causes a player to be concussed you are going to be in trouble. To wit you can't drive a player whose arms you have pinned into the ground, you gotta release. Be easier if they policed the action rather than just those that lead to concussion.
