In 2014 if you are getting smashed in the midfield it is going to be a struggle. Peter Jackson and the recruiting staff can't just click their fingers and improve the list overnight. Generally the last 2 draft/trade periods have been an obvious improvement on what went on before that. Can't see that Todd Viney and Jason Taylor have done too much wrong.

We just don't have enough natural midfielders. Players who can find the ball, win it, and use it. Riley looms as one. We need about 7 or 8 more, enough to play some on the flanks like the better teams do.

Impressed today. He is a natural midfielder. Can find his own ball and has the footwork to buy himself time in a contested situation. Given we are about 5 ballwinning mids short it was at least one positive on an otherwise forgettable day.
