What the Fritsch
Think it is Fritta. Same as what the lads from Coldstream call him. Just as an aside, his father's nickname is the General. One of the toughest blokes you would ever come across. Despite the small frame Bayley won't be a shrinking violet.

Crystal Ball 2018: Predictions for next season
Well here goes: Billy Strech trains all off sesson with Maynard, develops a beast mode and surprises every one from round one. Maynard becomes a first dibs midfielder but becomes Demonland's whipping boy cos he can't kick. Pat McKenna debuts and becomes the surprise linkman the team badly needs. Salem becomes the talk of the town by getting himself fit and playing permanently in the midfield. Selected in 50 percent of SuperCoach teams. Clarrie gets tagged every week and develops a penchant for belting blokes. Disqualified from Brownlow. Fritsch debuts round one and makes an impact but is suspended by the club midseason for being out with the Yarra Valley lads and missing training. Also nominated for mark of the year. Lewis has a slow start and drops himself round eight citing sore knee. Viney struggles for fitness and only plays seven games. Lever becomes a fine acquisition and leads best backline in comp. Hunt becomes more consistent and wins four appearances on the Footy Show. Dees finish third and reach prelim. Lose to GWS by two points.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
Check out WJ's 2017 draft prospects thread from last year. Few concerns that GWS would get a top-five pick because he was in their academy at the time. Our own Chelly had him going at one!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
Has speed, agility and class on both sides of the body. Is also a leader, but perhaps most important is a competitive little animal too. Cracks in and his defensive pressure is first class. Could have easily been a top-five pick if not injured this year. Embrace this pick Demonlanders. We're lucky to have him.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
Love this! Been on about Spargo for 18 months. Boy can play!

2017 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Agree. Most interesting is where the real little blokes go. Mosquito fleet might be in vogue. Jack Higgins, Spargo, Fogarty, Miers, Daniels and Moore. Think Melbourne will go needs first and the pick the best available of these guys.

Jack Trengove signed by Port Adelaide as a Delisted Free Agent
First year out of the AFL you go where the money is. SANFL and WAFL generally pay more than VFL.

2017 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
I fear what another Ling from Geelong would do to the dressing room. Obvious, cliche-ridden ramblings. Constant regurgitation of meaningless stats, mangling of the English language... For our boys mental health lets not draft Ling!

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Getting in 21 year old AA squad members aint easy. But we've pulled it off. Kudos to all concerned. Personally, I like tough kents coming into the team with leadership qualities. Out with soft xocks that don't go when they should. In with the natural born winners that get going from the start.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Anyone see a trend in Goodwin's modus operandi? Guys who can handle themselves physically. Melksham, Johnstone and Lever are very handy boxers. Piggy Hibberd doesn't back away from anyone... Out with the soft c***s and in with the tough bar stewards!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BALIC
History of wrist problems going back to 2014 has not helped him. Smart kid that showed plenty in draft year despite playing injured. Great spacial awareness but lacks a yard. Can run all day which Goodwin would like. Good size and decent mark. Change of scenery might pay dividends.

Welcome to Demonland: Bayley Fritsch
Not having been drafted at 18 probably means he can build himself up in an AFL environment. What is great is his marking and kicking ability. He made a few AFL-listed guys look second rate this season. He won't shirk it either despite the skinny build. I'd draft with a third or fourth rounder.

Are you there Harry? Vale Harry Beitzel
Tommy was a great character. Passionate South Melbourne Cricket Club fan and aficionado of all sport, especially Aussie Rules and cricket. The ladies at SMCC would make him a special afternoon tea each match. There he'd relive stories to anyone that would listen. A brilliant, engaging storyteller. Always remember him saying Jack Mueller was the best footballer he ever saw. Interesting choice given that he had watched football for over half a century and saw the likes of Coleman, Baldock, Whitten, Barassi, Skilton, Blight and Matthews.

The Importance of Jordan Lewis
Thought Lewis was poor for much of the game. Ring a ring a rosy handballs. Stupid 50 metre penalties and free kicks. Appeared at times the game was too quick for him.

The Importance of Jordan Lewis
10 out of 10 for pure entertainment/jococity. Like most things in life this post is somewhere in the middle.

The Importance of Jordan Lewis
Was an absolute liability today. Slow, fumbly and indecisive.

Jeff 'Wiz' Farmer
Along with Jakovich the most exciting footballer we had for the past 40-odd years.
-
Zak Jones
Really? Your definition of ordinary is ordinary. Equal best ranked player for the Swans at the moment. Goes hard, great tackler and a line breaker.
-
Clarence Oliver
Not sure how you could think this when he absolutely dominated in his first game and despite only being half fit last year was second for all the nominated rising stars for contested possessions. Gerard Healy called the best debut he had seen. The Toump played one decent game for Melbourne in three seasons against St Kilda which ironically he lost for us as well.

Clarence Oliver
Many effective possessions but meaningless.

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
McCartin is nowhere near fit enough at the moment to play AFL.

2017 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Crazy that Spargo can go to GWS. Dead set gun.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
Like as a second rounder. Has a bit of mongrel in him which will be welcomed. Now find me a second ruck and pacy mid in the mould of Isaac Smith and I'll be happy.

Lynden Dunn
I'm happy that the FD have sent a message to Dunn. His form in 2010 and 2014 was good. But that's it! Last year he was again poor and that's reflected in the B&F results. The games he's played this year have also been poor (undisciplined, poor coverage of the ground, lazy, etc). For a senior player he does not do enough and never really has. They might as well try and blood replacements. It's a good message to the rest of the group.
