There has always been an undertone of uncertainty with this team. I’ll admit there was a time in’21 where I had complete trust but before it started to come undone pretty soon after that in ‘22.
  2. Reality is they are unlikely to get pinged for an extra step. But I get your point. Need both Windsor and bowey off HB running into square for a HB receive.

Did they already scrap his segment on 360?

Didnt think about Touk.. great leader IMO. He played well against us but not sure how his performance stacks up against us. But given Suns are about to turn a corner, he would be hard to extract out of the place. Brayshaw signed an extension already with Freo. LDU wont go from one basket case to another. Unfortunately i see a club like ours as the perfect source for other clubs to pluck mature players out of. Fortunately for us, most players are all signed up so at least we will get compensated.
  5. Which makes getting to Collingwood and Carlton impossible. Bombers and Tigers are the only real options unless he wants to move to Geelong, which I’m doubtful. So he can play for a big VIC club and ultimately find himself in a similar situation as the Dees in a club that is rebuilding. Really the only move he’d be exploring is Collingwood. So they would need to move on some players to get in the first round of this years draft. Looking at their list I can’t see anybody that really hits the mark. It makes sense for sure, but there is so much contradiction on the player dynamics after last year so hard to get any sense of what’s true. It makes you wonder why we did so much to ensure we didn’t trade Oliver out - I thought all the hype around him falling back in love with footy and the club was positive and had me sold on a big year for him. He’s not going terrible but is not shooting the lights out by any stretch.

Yeah it’s a tough draw after 8. 2-6 is an easy fail mark. However to win 2+ games would suggest an improvement from our current footy because if we continue as is, then we are well and truely on the way to 0-8 at which point the above holds.

I think teh right time to make the decision is after the WC game. If we are any worse than 2-6, then times up. Reason being is that you wouldnt want the 6 month payout clause (applicable to Simon's contract extension) to impact the 2026 soft cap.

Butters makes lots of sense, but it will involve a move where Oliver and/or Trac is shipped off. A midfield of Langford, Butters, Windsor, Rivers, Lindsay, Kolt and then obviously some of Trac / Viney / Langdon / Sparrow. I think bodes pretty well for the future.
  9. So is main training tomorrow then?
  10. What does remain constant through most games styles is an ability to score from turnover. Which we bucked the trend in '21 (although our centre clerance dominance in Q3, probably fudged the stats on that night).
  11. You have to understand that Goody's coaching philosophy is largely a defensive one, so his response to anything will be from a place where defence is king. I have a funny feeling that the evolution of the modern game will be one that looks to restrict the free flowing nature of it and look to lock down ball movement and transition. Maybe its a higher press, making the ground skinnier or flood the corridor etc who knows, but its a ying and yang...the game has - IMO - become too open / offensive, which will be corrected in the coming years by and over-the-top defensive style plan and the cycle will continue.
  12. If true, we can only hope that Oliver plays well enough to get some decent trade value.

I can’t work out the 3rd. I know who was banned and who got retired.

The fact that a teenager can spot the obvious flaws in our ball movement and f50 connection and we haven’t done anything in 5 years about it is so depressing. But the FD are not completely dumb. I think they know our midfielders lack the skill and awareness to do so otherwise. Week after week after week we see the same stuff from them. It beggars belief.

We need to take risk or will end up becoming irrelevant again for the next decade plus. We are in need desperate need of an athletic forward. JUH has the potential to become the next Jezza. I’m not saying we don’t do any due diligence and that we should disregard everything, but our forward line appears that it will need reconstruction before the last rebuild even had time to mature…. And we have no first round picks this year. JUH is ready made…
  16. He’s coming off a back stress fracture and he’s 19yo so yes, we tread carefully and manage him back up to AFL loads. There is no upside to rushing him back when we are 0-4.

He is 23 immature and hanging around the wrong people. It will eventually dawn on him like it did for Hogan and now he is the best forward in the league. If we can get him on the cheap, surround him with the right people, then he is worth the shot IMV

  19. Spew up. Long overdue.

Is drop them both. He dropped 3 sitters against Geelong.

Bounce this thread. He’ll definitely become available and I think is in a worse position than Oliver and / Trac so trade value will be much lower. Probably a late 1st or 2nd rounder. Now I don’t know the back story and due diligence is required to determine whether he can be rehabilitated. But he has upside and is still very young. Oscar Allen is Hawthorn bound and there is nothing really else out there.

I can’t believe the boys on the couch kept the criticism reasonably balanced. Said positive things for crying out loud. I think they are starting to feel sorry for us.

Yes. Better kick than most of the team. Upgrade on Spaz & Viney. Not sexy, won’t sell memberships but is a good 22 player. I reckon Hawks are trying to keep space for Reid and Allen and the other 50 players they are linked to.
  24. Id usually say that reeks of desperation. But i think we can all agree, that desperation is where we are all at. JVR definitely needs to go and i think he'll be back in after kicking a bag at the VFL. Fritta, i dont think would respond as well in the VFL. i can definitely see him struggling even at that level. Our FWD line should be Chin, Fullerton, Turner, Kozzy, Trac / Langford, Jeffo.
  25. This year, i now go into every game thinking its a loss and what miracles must occur to win on expected score. Actual winning - well that is just out of reach.
