Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
Agreed. I think Oliver is the player with the least drop in form when compared to Trac, Rivers, Viney and Sparrow.

The Luke Beveridge Thread
Maybe if Bevo comes along, he can bring an uncontracted Bont with him? Would that make you all change your mind about him coming to the Dees ? 😀

Time to go Goody?
Perhaps. The counter-argument is that players may not want to play this way, that they are sick and tired of defence and contest; by being continually banged up and stifled. Contest and defence method was brutal on teh players. Perhaps there is a middle ground here where we look to contest and defense as part of the phase without the ball, but then develop our turnover & ball movement game with the ball, which has actually improved.

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
Each to there own. Its great to see Trac back away, but for me, he burnt too many bridges to go down the captaincy route. At the end of the day the playing group will have a say in the matter so if they are onboard with Trac being elected captain so be it. Im not over-the-moon with Lever as captain so I'm really clueless as to who should be leading this club onfield. I think Max would have liked to step aside last year and is really struggling with it this year.

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
It beggars belief that this same old tripe is being dished up. Anyone who thinks that we will part with a 2x ALFCA 4xBF, 3xAA for a packet of chips (Oliver is still 27) is outright mad. Of course his salary is at ~$1M per year. Other clubs would have likely paid him higher. I'm realistic in that he's not worth 3 x Top 10 picks. But a Top 10 and a Future 1st is fair value. Its a similar story for Trac 2xBF; 4xAA. He's a bit older (29) but probably will have a longer career given his professionalism and standards.

Time to go Goody?
We know it’s there and posed whether this is coached - I don’t think it is. Probably the old insular, low on confidence, I have to try harder mindset that is behind this.

Well he’d be able to certainly get the AFLs attention on a number of matters; give us a good opportunity to secure Caulfield. Not sure what a downside would be.

Time to go Goody?
I have to say he is very convincing. I’m drinking the cool-aid, knowing it’s cool-aid but liking the taste and wanting more. What is wrong with me!

Kozzy Limps Off the Track
If he has torn his torn his plantar fascia, he will play. I have heard people try and do this speed up recovery as the pain can be quite limiting so what Simon is saying is not far fetched.

Kozzy Limps Off the Track
Wow Lever is now 10 weeks away! He gets this type of injury all too often. Limited pre season ; ankle surgery…. So injury prone.

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
I can relate to this in the sense that a common cultural attribute of Mediterranean families is an over-top- hysteria around family health. I reckon my parents would be exactly the same and would demand I retire from footy immediately. I’m from a European background and have always found it interesting to witness the differences between European and Australian family dynamics growing up.

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
The fact that they keep mentioning the relationship between player and coach remains strong is what catches my eye. I wonder if they had a falling out?

Media Madness
Maybe he should focus on his own club and the blowback from Sayers so called hacked account. Anyone follow up on the fact that he just divorced his wife? Surely a coincidence

Time to go Goody?
Fn oath they shouldn’t be happy. I’d be furious if they were. They need to stop moping about and get to work.

Kozzy Homesick & Wants to Leave?
Well if there is a silver lining in all this mayhem , we are currently rated #5 moving ball from back to forward half. So something has improved. Better than Hawks. Some interesting viewing on the couch which I commented on the game day thread was the burning of players in centre clearances. Saw it time and time again where there was a forward handball on and the players elected to kick to the top of the square. This has to be some form of coaching instruction because it beggars belief how obviously flawed that tactic is.

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
This is good. He didn’t have to do this so it’s a good and unexpected surprise from Trac.

10) And cannot emphasize this enough, put in enough guardrails to ensure this club does not fall face first off the top of a cliff after overcoming decades worth of irrelevance only to find itself back in the wilderness. The fact that we are back again in this situation with more than half a side of premiership players is beyond belief. Whatever failed (i bet we only know half the story) cannot be allowed to happen again. There is we need LEARNINGS.

PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
100% agree that they should run through there as the attacking option. You may run 2 at the same time if we are on a roll (hard to see that happening). Its why having a hybrid player is so key. Serong, Merret/Neale are all examples of players who can punish you both ways in stoppage. Viney's drop in form is out of this world. I do wonder if he is carrying something because gong from 78 -> 336 in one season is not explainable even if he is one year older.

The Next CEO
I have heard on the grapevine that he has been a pretty successful CEO in prior roles and made me wonder why we haven't tried to have a crack at him in the past. I suspect Green is leaning on his friendship with Big Al to convince him to join. I think having an allegience to the club is a double edged sword. You do have the extra passion to see your club succeed and do the best thing for the club. But that passion could equally become a blindspot

PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
There is no defensive accountability with that setup. We will get absolutely murdered with front of stoppage type stuff..especially with Freo's stoppage dominance. IMV we need to setup 2 defensive mids and one attacking mid at all stoppages and have equal numbers on the outside that don't commit to the contest. We should play with a view to neutralize post-clearance as much as possible. Now who are best 2 defensive mids? It used to be Viney and Oliver. Which is why the famous trio worked a treat. But both of these guys are out of form. Sparrow has brute strength but is often caught out of position. Rivers is out of form so no idea how we approach this, but going all out attack is insane.

Key position forward - Archie Ludowyke
I think that is pretty obvious. It will come from one or more of Trac/Clarry/Kozzy. KPF from the draft are so hard to get right though. Its hard to snare them from clubs unless they enter into FA at a club not doing well. And then you are competing with the rest of the competition.

PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
if ever there was a game that we have close to no chance, it is this week. I'd be happy to keep the loss to < 50 points as it would at least be consistent. Goody will IMO setup this game to minimize the deficit and hope for a counter attacking miracle.

Letter from Brad Green
I beg to differ. He was the president of the MCC and had always planned for this career break. It the perfect time before taking on another mammoth job at MFC. You want to be re-energized and refocused for your next challenge - one that will take full commitment for at least the first 1-2 years. I usually take 1-2 months off between change of employers so this move actually resonates with me.

What i heard was the decision was always meant to conclude in the mid-end April timeline.

Letter from Brad Green
Firstly, as others have said, it is good Brad Green has come out and said something. Think about Kate and Pert last year... it was utter silence through some very questionable times. This transparency has to be applauded as an improvement no matter what message was delivered. The team have to find something positive no matter how small to focus on and build on. It definitively is clasping at straws with the references to Q3. But the message from that quarter is actually really simple. EFFORT & INTENSITY. It is the only major thing that was different from the other 3 quarters. Goody mentioned it in his presser. Its what we did well against GWS and what has largely been missing since. You fix that one little thing, which doesn't need talent or skill and we will be much better for the cause. Doesnt mean we would have the games we lost, but im sure with some fight we would have walked away with at least 1-2 wins. Sure there are the forward line issues and other method / system problems but they are exacerbated by the lack of intensity in the team.
