  1. I don't mean to be rude of facetious, but why would we target players that are failing to make an appearance at AFL level? The probability of them excelling and displacing someone in our bottom 6 is incredibly small let alone having a chance to improve our best 22. The money it would take to dislodge them would be a waste. Now if its to improve our VFL side, well then thats another matter, but i fail to see the point of targeting the top echelon of VFL players. Again not to be rude and others have also called out similar ideas, but these types of trades will do nothing. They are akin to the Schache, Culley, Henderson, Sharp, Fullarton trades and all know how that has worked out.
  2. No way. We need to rebuild not patch fix. Lewis is on the outer anyway, injury prone.
  3. Its something i wonder about as well. i.e. what specifically is responsible for his drop in form. Its not just a minor drop either - i wouldn't even consider him in the average bucket of midfielders anymore- perhaps a harsh view on my account. But our once lauded midfield is in fact the weakest part of our team (yes more so than our dysfunctional forward line). We know he has a complex MH diagnosis for which he is receiving ongoing treatment. We also know the game has evolved and his role has changed. But all of the things we know (above) doesn't feel like it can explain it all - maybe it does. maybe it is as simple as that. But maybe he has lost the desire to play footy - that he has fallen out-of-love (pardon the pun) with the game, his teammates and the club. The performances feel much more in line with something of this nature and hence why the talk of being in a new environment may help him rediscover his passion. I noticed in his 200th, there appeared to be an extra spring in his step. He had a bit more emotion coming through. He put in a bit more effort... To be fair there are others that fall into this bucket as well.
  4. A It wasn’t by choice. There wasn’t an opportunity to bring them on as the game play was on the other side of the ground.
  5. They were preparing for Reid but it’s looking unlikely and Allen is off to the Lions.
  6. We cannot hold onto the premiership team, it will give us nothing on field. The quicker we transition to the next team the quicker we are back in the limelight. Trading Trac and others that have value give us the picks to help us regenerate the list quicker. If we don’t, then we will be stuck in the middle of nowhere. Hawks rebounded very quickly with the right trading and recruitment. We have already started so it’s a matter of getting 50 odd games into the kids we will recruit this year and next.
  7. If it’s for Pick 7 Take it and run.
  8. We will lose this game. Just you watch.
  9. What big changes are coming ? (according to Tom) if the board has publicly ally back the coach (Guerra too).
  10. Nailed it.
  11. I am 100% in the phase of burn the whole place down, move the team to Wangaratta and start again, so take my posts for the remainder of this week/month/year with a grain of salt. Now with that caveat out of the way, we have to rebuild this side entirely. Not patch fit and relaunch. Our next premiership side will not have Trac, Oliver, Gawn, May, Melksham, Lever, Viney, Fritta or Salem in the squad. THat may be a bitter pill to swallow, but once you come to accept that, then you can see through the trees and uncover the available options - we have plenty. There is the 2025 and 2026 drafts before Tassie come in. Right now we have the 25 2nd and our 1st and 2nd in 2026. 3rd rounders are a gamble that rarely come off, but there is every chance that we may snare 1 or 2 depth talent. We need another 1-2 Top 10 players and then another 3-4 somewhere in the 10-30 range. In all of those picks we need kickers, preferably 2 HB's, a KPF and a KPD. Then the next batch really is what else we uncover over the next year or so. We are devoid of 3-4 of the picks we need. We will clearly be bottom 4-6 next year so that is one top 10 taken care of. The other 2 picks will be in the 20's. So we need another top 10, and another 2 picks in the teens. The ONLY way we get that is by moving on those players while they have currency. Now is not the time for Trades and FA. The fact that Simon is talking about trades and FA should be a red flag to the board that he will absolute ruin this club if he is left in the job. Trac will not want to entertain any other club other than a VIC powerhouse. He wont goto the Bombers OR Carlton as they are in a similar position to us. It leaves the Hawks or the Pies. The Hawks have Pick 7 (Carltons 1st round) are in prime position to contend for the flag and could do with a Trac type. The Pies dont have the picks to make that happen. Oliver to Geelong is probably a 2nd rounder or Future 1st, but we may have to pay his salary to get that deal done. May to the Doggies to plug their defensive 50 problems will get us a 2nd rounder. We will need to keep Lever to play an interim captain. Fritta can really go anywhere and is probably a 2nd rounder. McVee rumoured to Freo/WC is probably a 2nd rounder or late 1st at best. Do we get a compensation pick if he goes or is that reserved for RFA? That is how we can get things done and get the required 6 picks to rebuild our side that has a chance to contend within the next 5-6 years. Any other course of action is just time wasting. Here is what a side in 3-4 years could look like B: McVee Turner Howes HB: Lever CHB Bowey C: Lindsay Langford Windsor HF: Chin CHF Kozzy F: Kolt (?) JVR AMW Foll: Kalani Mid X Mid Y I/C: WTF knows Retired: Tmac, Gawn, Melksham, Salem, Langdon, Viney Traded: Fritta, May, Trac, Oliver *Ill keep McVee for now given the suggestion he isnt going anywhere. Oh and did i mention we need our new coach and GM in place to make this all happen. We cannot trust Lamb, Goodwin and Richo to rebuild this side.
  12. This is not mental. Well maybe partly but it is what is coached and I think is at the bottom of the entire psyche of the club. I have no doubt yesterday was another episode of play to hold the lead revert to stoppages stake control of the game. When Saints kicked 3 within the first minute it tells you Simon’s tactics were well known throughout the universe. No doubt Ross knew this has wound up his players to jump us and kick start the momentum. it also tells you we don’t have a ruthless will to win games by big marginS and when we are being challenged we don’t have the mental resilience to stop momentum - the team just gives up or doesn’t know how to respond to high pressure situations. We are broken. The nonsense of love and connection used in preseason has back fired. We are no doubt worse off as a playing group and fractures have become gaping canyons. We are firmly , truly on the highway back to an era of irrelevance again.
  13. And that is where we are screwed. We laugh at the Dockers wrt to their contractual arrangement with Longmuir, but its actually quite brilliant both ways. You are essentially sackable at any point based on your performance and the club isnt held to ransom by long contracts. You perform, you keep your job like any other workplace in the country. Next contract we set with a new coach should be set with a 2 year guarantee then its a year-by-year proposition. So if you are sacked midway, you get the payout for the rest of the season. Whoever has been managing contracts for the club also needs to find the door.
  14. I know we have said to sack coaches ad nauseum, but in all seriousness with an interim CEO and President, how does this technically get done? Does getting Paul and Steve (zoom/webex or whatever) in for an emergency meeting tomorrow to vote and decide on the future of our coaching dept even constitutional given they haven't officially started? Does the charter / constitution allow for an interim ceo/president to sack the coach and gm of footy now? Surely there is a way to act now. The job is clearly untennable and the sooner we start looking for a replacement the better. There is no way on earth Goodwin is the coach in 2026.
  15. Our club will be put on the case study slides for all premiership teams to study on the first day of pre-season. It will be titled, Why its important to not get too far ahead of yourselves. Ok so its not a great title but my point remains.
  16. If anybody from the clubs administration monitors these boards. Just know that the MFC will be -3 next year unless the whole footy department isnt turfed. At the very very least, Goody and Richo gone. Im not investing in another year of this garbage. Those that tout "but you need to support the players no matter wat OR your not a diehard... " I hear you, but i will not sit idly by whilst the club doesn't make the required changes. if they are not willing to make the hard choices, there will be enough people like me that will threaten the clubs bottom line and 'encourage' them into action.
  17. ahhh no. I went on an absolute rampage. Had to send myself to the garage and stay there for an hour to calm down.
  18. Have to seriously contemplate a MFCSSHP - Melbourne Football Club Supportership Hybernation Protocol. Does anybody know of any fringe Psychologists who can adapt CBT methods to achieve such a thing?
  19. Yes. But the EBA just says the club cannot force the players to do it. They can all sign waivers for all i care and demand it of themselves. Anything short of that and we know they dont take this game serious enough. It is the only way up and that is to to go through some really hard truths together. A run-of-the-mill preseason will not do anything. A new coach and footy dept will take years to turn this list over, but right now the younger brigade are - through no fault of their own- helping perpetuate this soft, weak and gutless underbelly. F. Me i thought this [censored] was done with...
  20. Im not signing up for a renewal until that footy department including the sport performance team has been cleaned out solid. All of them can bugger off. As for the players, The need to be ready Oct 1 for a gruellilng pre-season. Starting with a trip to the Kokada trail with two bags of concrete on their shoulders. If they are not pinging hammies next year ill know that they didnt train hard enough. I have lost all hope that we will contend within the next decade. You could not orchestrate a more unbelievable downfall from where we were. Im in total disbelief. What is wrong with this club.
  21. WE ARE DISBOLICAL
  22. Here they come. So predictable
  23. How the hell isn’t that holding the ball. Umpires it’s as clear as day.
  24. Now listen to the next 5 hours of why Bowey should get suspended.
  25. Wouldn’t speak too soon.
