I have heard on the grapevine that he has been a pretty successful CEO in prior roles and made me wonder why we haven't tried to have a crack at him in the past. I suspect Green is leaning on his friendship with Big Al to convince him to join. I think having an allegience to the club is a double edged sword. You do have the extra passion to see your club succeed and do the best thing for the club. But that passion could equally become a blindspot

There is no defensive accountability with that setup. We will get absolutely murdered with front of stoppage type stuff..especially with Freo's stoppage dominance. IMV we need to setup 2 defensive mids and one attacking mid at all stoppages and have equal numbers on the outside that don't commit to the contest. We should play with a view to neutralize post-clearance as much as possible. Now who are best 2 defensive mids? It used to be Viney and Oliver. Which is why the famous trio worked a treat. But both of these guys are out of form. Sparrow has brute strength but is often caught out of position. Rivers is out of form so no idea how we approach this, but going all out attack is insane.

I think that is pretty obvious. It will come from one or more of Trac/Clarry/Kozzy. KPF from the draft are so hard to get right though. Its hard to snare them from clubs unless they enter into FA at a club not doing well. And then you are competing with the rest of the competition.

if ever there was a game that we have close to no chance, it is this week. I'd be happy to keep the loss to < 50 points as it would at least be consistent. Goody will IMO setup this game to minimize the deficit and hope for a counter attacking miracle.

I beg to differ. He was the president of the MCC and had always planned for this career break. It the perfect time before taking on another mammoth job at MFC. You want to be re-energized and refocused for your next challenge - one that will take full commitment for at least the first 1-2 years. I usually take 1-2 months off between change of employers so this move actually resonates with me.

Firstly, as others have said, it is good Brad Green has come out and said something. Think about Kate and Pert last year... it was utter silence through some very questionable times. This transparency has to be applauded as an improvement no matter what message was delivered. The team have to find something positive no matter how small to focus on and build on. It definitively is clasping at straws with the references to Q3. But the message from that quarter is actually really simple. EFFORT & INTENSITY. It is the only major thing that was different from the other 3 quarters. Goody mentioned it in his presser. Its what we did well against GWS and what has largely been missing since. You fix that one little thing, which doesn't need talent or skill and we will be much better for the cause. Doesnt mean we would have the games we lost, but im sure with some fight we would have walked away with at least 1-2 wins. Sure there are the forward line issues and other method / system problems but they are exacerbated by the lack of intensity in the team.

Can you link to? If this is true and there is a massive murmurings of an exodus of players...perhaps they are part of the problem? I get they can be frustrated i.e. Rivers having to play HB but was promised midfield minutes, I mean come on. Look at what Gus did - he sacrificed his midfield for the sake of the team. Trac is playing more forward for the team. Riv will get his shot, but right now McVee, AMW is out - Howes form is terrible and we dont have any other mid sized defenders. There are too many individuals now that are being selfish and not thinking about the greater good. This is a lack of leadership and cohesion/unity of the club. It is dire, because it will take the whole club to work together in moving forward in the same direction. There is no other way out. Its where you get to learn about the grit and commitment of your playing list. The review clearly didnt cut deep enough last year, but i can understand you cannot do a full leadership reset in one hit (new pres, ceo, gm of footy, coach and captain) - but we need them all done. So pres & ceo come in this year. Smith and ??? Next will be a clean up of the footy dept, which will mean Richo and Goody gone - most likely at year end by the look of things. Hopefully Gawn relinquishes his captaincy and can focus on his footy. I'm not terribly enthused with Lever as his replacement but there really isn't anybody else that i think can do the job.

Gawn was epic last night. Why would you drop him? Also have to take my hat off to Bowey, he really made me eat my words frim a few weeks ago - glad he responded to my criticism;) To me players like Salem, JVR, Sparrow, Viney, Rivers are the ones that are really underperforming. Trac and Oliver are playing as average midfielders but not in deopable territory. Fritta had a better game.

150 pressure points for three quarters is diabolical. Effort is not there. They say they are trying but are they really trying? 180-190 is average and we played average for 1 quarter and that was good enough. Think about that - we just have to apply average pressure and we would have likely beaten. Teams are playing 2-3 quarters at 210+ what does that even look like for Melbourne? Maybe we are just not fit enough. Explains the poor execution and defensive failures.

That is ridiculous. To me its either Clarry or Trac that need to go, not both. I have seen enough of Clarry and I'm pretty adamant he has fallen out-of-love with Footy. He has lost the ruthless edge which carried us to the flag. It doesn't have to be off by much but id look to move him on. Maybe Saints would be desperate enough to off us 2 picks this year and next. I'm indifferent bout Trac, but we cannot offload both. Trac will at least give us some solid performances and set standards with the youth. He'll also play to his mid 30's i reckon. We have to keep Koz to contract and only release him if the offer from Freo is over-the-top good. Has to be a top 5 pick or a F1 and this years first.

i dreaded those days where id be stoked for a win..it was like a PF victory for us. I also dread that we are fast approaching a similar crisis, despite being assured that we wouldnt let it happen. Still what i cannot fathom is bar a few players we are in prime age and having 15 premiership players in the 22. How on earth is this happening right now. it is beyond believable.

The team lacked fight. Everything you need to know. We put in the effort in Q3 and we outplayed them. It can be that simple. Hard-Work-Beat-Talent and the team is not working hard enough. The big question is WHY?
