May to Tribunal
I knew it. Its an absolute joke. Adrian Anderson needs to be sacked. Alex Pearce must be laughing his head off.

May to Tribunal
They are, but i have a feeling that the AFL would buck all trends and make a call on this one.

TRAINING: Tuesday 22nd July 2025
It’s about 18 weeks overdue. I expect next preseason to focus heavily on defence again. Whilst a lot is made on our ball movement, we have regressed monumentally defence wise. Especially in transition and against turnovers. I get that we are probably not used to defending this way given the focus on offence, but we have given up way too much for little gain offensively.

Just like Greene and his kicking during marking attempts. One has a tax named after him whilst the other gets away scott free.

That’s a major upgrade for GCS. The King brothers have been a bust.

Glad the media have found a different club to go after.

They will make a play for him for sure. Whether Harley accepts it or not is another thing all together. It does help that he is good mates with Caddy. WC are just [censored] (thankfully for us) that they didnt take our offer years ago. They would have gotten 2-3 gun players. Reid at this stage is very much looking like a bust and nowhere near capable of reaching the ceiling that he was reportedly capable of.

Joe Daniher
haha. such a typical Melbourne move. but you cannot fault them for trying. Still tells me that the club is completely unaware of the significance of the kicking skills going inside 50. If we had Budy, Riewoldt x2 and Joe all at their prime in our forward line, we still wouldn't kick more than 80 points.

Time to start a rebuild?
Everyone remember what happened to West Coast after 2018? Most of their stars continued to play years after but were absolutely hopeless and that started the absolute joke of a team that they have today. Whilst it’s not an exact comparison to our current state as we are brining in good talent. It’s hard not to see some similarities in the drop off of their top liners. The comparison in journey between Tigers and WC was made on radio today and how the Tigers made a decision to cut deep to quickly rejuvenate the list whilst WC seem to prioritise their senior players . The Tiger got rid of Bolton, D. Rioli , Baker and got a number of solid first round picks. They probably made some mistakes brining in Taranto and Hopper in and should have gone to the draft in hindsight. I think we have to take these lessons and look to bank some picks this year and next wherever we can. Hoping our players like Lever, May, Trac and Oliver will turn things around is becoming less likely with every game we play. I thought 2024 was a ‘refuel’ type year but with our 2025 I think it’s safe to say we are now on a downward trend and have yet to hit rock bottom. We need to take some drastic action to minimise the time we spend down here and give ourselves an opportunity to have a tilt before the end of the decade. As has been said plenty of times before, Trac and Oliver are not likely to get us much. We’d be lucky to get a first rounder - I hope they show something in the last six weeks but unlikely. Fritta may get us a late 1st. Same with river and Lever. I’d be hellbent getting rid of anyone under 23 as they are the future. As for trade targets, it’s not the time for pursuing trades unless they are FA. But for FA to come to the Dees we’d need to pay significant overs, which we probably don’t have the capacity to do with our current crop. It’s becoming a bit of nightmare scenario.

Farewell Judd McVee
I miss the days when we were top of the mountain. It’s such a traversty how far we have fallen.

Farewell Judd McVee
All my instincts tell me he is gone. However the inside line according to some of our own say its all bullocks and he is signed up. I tend to take some comfort in that view given a proven track record.

May to Tribunal
Yeah I agree. There is nothing trivial about this and the fact that Christians could fit it into the matrix tells you he is trying his best to mount a case but nothing sticks. If it was a black and white he’d threaten resignation and toss the case out.

This doesn’t really inspire me with confidence based on prior year trades. Fullerton anyone? If the kid was any good he’d get a run in the firsts.

Time to start a rebuild?
Every week that goes by, i lose a bit more confidence on our ability to contend again in the next short while. Its not easy being a quality side and a lot of things have to go right. A lot of things. Right now, there is so much wrong with our club, it is hard to see things turning around in the next 3-4 years at least. If our next president and CEO are good leaders (a big if), it will take at least another 1-2 years for their influence and decisions making starting to deliver. We lack a lot of leadership within the playing group aside from Max. Our game style is not working - largely due to the fact that we don't have the required personnel. Our youth, for which we had so much riding on, appears to be struggling. Our development has gone backwards. I just don't believe anymore that there is a positive culture within our club. Meanwhile, the northern clubs are getting talent basically handed to them, Tassie is around the corner which will be another vacuum on talent.

POSTGAME: Rd 19 vs Carlton
We are big average, yes, but pull your head of the sand. The umpiring is absolutely f’d.
-
Umpiring standard
In the same boat. usually would watch 4-5 games per week. Last 2 months it’s lucky if it’s 2. This week was the last 10 mins of the Blues game. I have just lost interest. Yes Melbourne being irrelevant doesn’t help but in the last era when we were hopeless I still enjoyed watching most games. Couple this with the biased commentary, the constant media bashing up on teams and players, the poor standard of umpiring, I think I need a break.

TRAINING: Friday 18th July 2025
Dang it. The website say this weeks sessions were going to be individual programs and no training at Goschs. How fn annoying.

NON-MFC: Round 19
They were no hope when the fixture was set for the 2nd half. Should have prioritised other teams. Funny how the Pies were not selected.

NON-MFC: Round 19
AFL really bombed out by banking on Essendon and Thursday night footy. It’s horrendous.

Game Plan changes
Yea but they have backdated the stats to 2019 or there abouts. — The most obvious part of our GP that is lacking is the personnel that are unable to fulfil it. IMO We are 4-5 good players away from contending again. It’s too much to expect our new recruits to excel yet. They’ll need at least 50 games of experience. That’s 2-3 years of development. Then we have the retirements to our seniors to contend with which will open up more list holes.

Where is Fritta Going?
The new role I think suits him because he has the iq and skills to deliver the ball inside 50. But aside from the North game his form hasn’t been great. Maybe it’s a fitness thing as well. It’s a similar conundrum to Kozzy. He is a lethal forward player but his skills and speed are of more value to us up the ground.

Goodwin on Footy Classified 15.07.2025
its one of those no-win situations. i don't think you can come out of the start of the season and say, we are rebuilding on the run. Of course the team will push for finals and it will continue to drive them until its unachievable. With so many gaping holes and players out of form, it shouldn't surprise any of us that the coaching dept knew exactly where they were after 0-5.
