  1. I posed the question a few weeks back as well. Where has this elite level of performances been. He was great in 2023 u til the ACL. Itโ€™s hard for anyone to come back from an ACL but heโ€™s defied time with his performances. I think if he can muster another half dozen respectable performances this year Iโ€™d offer him another contract. He is not really holding back youth in that position and offers great leadership in the forward line.
  2. Bumbers just became the bonus round in the original street fighter arcade game
  3. Gonna be a blood bath tonight.
  4. Ask your friend to take a photo and post it here. I will commit the rest of my week, hell even the rest of next month, in ensuring every media outlet, footy forum, social media platform is drowned in how pathetically irresponsible this is and how that act of thuggery is celebrated in an age where concussion is rife. I kid you not. Give me the ammunition and ill get it done.
  5. Id say every game for us this year can be described as a danger game. After going 0-5, it will be very hard to trust this mob again. Heck, even when we had just won the flag, i found it very hard to trust the performances... Apparently its a side effect from acute MCFSS
  6. This is a major announcement. Whilst this isnt exactly a demotion for Kane, it is just about as close as you can get to one. I'd expect her to leave before the year is out as id imagine her ego would have taken quite a blow. For the AFL executive, its also a sign of buckling to the pressure of the competition and media scrutiny to take some action giving the poor job that it has been doing recently. Not a great look for Dillon either. I cant imagine him sticking around for too long either.
  7. What i value him matters very little. Ask yourself this. Is he worth more or less than Clarry? The media and trade pundits only 4 weeks ago rated Clarry as zero trade value (due to salary and form) aka it was a salary dump. Why should McKay be any different? He is on similar coin and is not in the top 30 goal kickers in the league - he is out of form, has a suspect goal kicking action that buckles under pressure. Granted he is a fantastic contested mark and a great back-up ruck, but that alone doesn't constitute 2 first rounders with that salary. So I stand behind what I said based on how the media have assessed Clarry's trade value. If they want picks in the trade, they have to take on some of that salary.
  8. The reality is with aged stars their top line also drops offs. There have been a few to buck the trend of late but itโ€™s worth at least considering. Having said that Iโ€™d expect all the players you mention bar Trac and Oliver be able to reach their best. I still think those two need another 12 months to be within striking distance of their absolute prime.
  9. with all the NGA's and F/S predicted. Pick 9 (our pick) is likely to end up somewhere in the range 15-18 i think. Question will be, is a player of Lindsay's caliber likely to be available at that pick. After all is said and done, i reckon when the media does a retrospective 2024 draft, Lindsay and Langford are likely to both be in the top 5.
  10. I think the knee will be one of the footy acts that will be pursued by the AFL in similar way you brace for impact with your shoulder. It wont be illegal, but don't use it as an excuse when you concuss somebody with a knee to the head. With all the discussion around outcome driven penalties from the MRO, i also think its time that we look to injuries sustained in such actions beyond concussion. Im still amazed that we dont.
  11. GS_1905 replied to Oxdee's topic in Melbourne Demons
They need a double jeopardy escape clause especially in the case of delayed concussion. They also need to start considering the victim and what actions they took to exacerbate the outcome. They need to start ruling that running back with the flight, dropping your head to evade a tackle, or sliding / going to ground as well as other riskier actions, need to be factored into equation. If you are going for the mark and someone comes off the line or runs back with the ball and they put themselves at risk, they need to take some responsibility for what might come there way.
  12. if we put 2026 first rounder on the table and Blues coughed up $250K of his salary, then i think that would be a fair trade. Maybe throw in this years 2nd rounder for good measure.
  13. its clearly a salary dump so we'll take Harry and their first rounder ;) The modern game calls for more small forwards.. They are too top heavy.
  14. I havent seen anyone mention this yet on DL but in the last few games i have seen Trac shirk a few contests in particular when he is going back first into a contest or where he is marginally out of position. It is completely understandable given what he went through and im not out to get him. Just wanted to see if anyone else noticed this as well, because the injury he sustained is still clearly affecting him. The reason i bought it up was more for next week against Collingwood - what attitude do you think he takes into that game.. there will be a lot of hype around it and will mark roughly 12 months.
  15. You clearly misunderstood. i have no doubt what Jaded has said is true from her perspective. My perspective comes more from a place of disbelief / shock.
  16. 100%. He has a real hard, unrelenting nature to him. I have no doubt that he goes into the midfield mix eventually. He is a great ball user, smart and is also defensively capable to. He does thrive for the contest so undoubtedly will be a brilliant all round midfielder for years to come.
  17. that does make sense. id go as far as saying that if Geelong got exposed, they'd probably bring the whole league down with em.
  18. I find this a little hard to believe. As much as we all have a laugh around how the Cats are pulling the wool over the AFL, if any of what you said was remotely true, the other AFL clubs would be all over it and calling for an independent audit / enquiry into the matter.
  19. Agreed. We have knocked off Freo, Lions (at the GABBA) and now the Swannies. There's enough there to take some solid confidence into the 2nd half. A few more top 8 scalps though before you start cancelling your travel plans in September. If we were 2-3 after 5, we'd be a game outside of top 4. Just shows how costly the losses against Bombers and Kangas were.
  20. And Kozzy almost kicked a Petracca goal from the left pocket
  21. Beat the Pies and we are knee deep in the run to the finals. I give us a huge chance.
  22. Boyne on SEN has applauded the new game plan, which to be fair was not evident in the first 5 rounds. Some interesting insights that he raises. We have evolved. MFC is one of the fastest ball movers Last 6 rounds we have been the teams to have changed the angles the most We have proved that forward line personnel is not the problem as evidenced by the scoring we have had with Petty and AJ vs Carltonโ€™s straight line (ie our old method) footy with Curnow and McKay. Credits coaching staff and list management in bringing in better ball users into the club.
  23. How does Maxy get a measly 2 votes! Kozzy deserved the 10 for sure. But Max was the second (or third highest rated) player on the ground was he not? Goody not giving him the 4 to help him progress his ALFCA is grounds for dismissal.

  25. This isnt a topic to discuss week-by-week. We are quick to forget the poor start against teams that we had no business in losing to (North, Bombers). Yes we were expecting a less than ideal start and to be fair, we probably came up against them at a rather unfortunate time for us. Goody clearly hasn't lost the players - i myself doubted that at one point, but we still have a forward line issues that have been glossed over by some out-of-this-world individual performances in the past couple of games. Playing a CHB (Petty) and 34 yo (Melksham) is not a sustainable go-forward plan. The F50 connection appears to be improving, but need a few more scalps in the top 8 before we can conclusively say we are legitimate condenders again. We have much to improve in this area. To keep the monkey off his back for the rest of the year and in the off-season, he needs to finish strongly. Finals will be difficult but at least a positive ledger in the second half i think is fair. i'd still hold off contract negotiations until after next season though, where a finals berth is a must.
