NON-MFC: Round 22
"Completely accidental!" hahaha.

Farewell Charlie Spargo
For his size / height, you’d expect him to be able to dance on a dime and have the agility of house cat on the zoomies. But I’m afraid he is not that and with his progressing age and bung achilies he’ll be even less athletic. He maybe a good user but in the premium comp you can’t have skills and not the athleticism to back it up without being caught out. I hope he stays but if he does it will definitely be more time in the 2’s and come in if the need arises.

Where is Fritta Going?
Ask yourself this: What’s he worth to a top 8 team? Will he be playing footy when the Dees are likely to contend again? Will he play a proactive role in developing / leading our young players in the near term? I’m a bit on the fence with Fritta. He has value either a MFC player or trade wise. So we have to ask ourselves what value does MFC need more of? The same holds true for all senior players if I’m being honest. You are either accelerating our transition by getting us more picks or developing the next crop through leadership.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Bonus points for professionalism. We sure do need plenty of it.
-
Nathan Buckley a Dees supporter?
Nah i wouldnt read too much into that, i think they are both being respectful to Goody.

Thank You Simon Goodwin by Demonland
We should also attach the "Is Goodwin the right guy" thread too. Hey may (or may not) get a kick out of it.

It’s also the players that haven’t been performing so it’s fair to say that they don’t know what they need. Being hum-hah with the coach isn’t necessarily the key ingredient for success.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Ralph reckons we are not a good proposition. Coaches may prefer coaching at Carlton. Some make this make sense.. Carlton is worse off than us.

These things are never easy. In the end it was done well enough for me. Clearly Brad isnt the best spokesman, but i think he is just nervous and trying to calm his emotion at the outcome. Goody was the ultimate professional and it will be tough seeing him at a different team.

This is a hard watch. Im unexpectedly very emotional.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I think it’s the opposite. I think Goody was the one mainly responsible in keeping these two around. I suspect both will request a trade now. We just have to get on with this list turnover. Rip off the band aid. we will suffer - bottom fours for the next few - but once our youth reach 75- 100 games we will be relevant once again.

The Great Reaet is upon us.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
I think we will go for a proven coach over a new one.

There is no excuse for leaking. NONE. Do we know for fact that the players didn’t know? I suspect they would have found out last night as well.

I think this is 100% the case. It does say a lot though at the relationship. He had every right to walk as he probably disagrees with the decision and sticking around would be extremely awkward.

As much as I called for this, I take no pleasure in it. Thanks Simon for 2021 and brig a leader for nearly decade. All the best.

Funny thing is his First Crack Colleague in Kingy has been calling out for Goodwin to try the young brigade through the middle. You cannot make this [censored] up. They call for the youngsters to be battle-hardened with my CBA and then when its implemented, rather than applauding the bold move, lets now highlight the fact that Trac is no longer in there and he could be traded. Now i have my personal opinion's on Trac's trade but in direct reference to the First Crack, this is becoming meat and potatoes journalism. To the heart of the trade scenario. Hawks were preparing to go after Reid with a treasure trove of picks. It is appearing more unlikely to happen now and with Day's foot issues, they are in dire need of a another prime midfielder. I do think Trac to Hawks actually makes sense. Previously i called for their first pick (tied to Carlton) - but given Day's injury and Reid likely to stay, it puts Hawthorn in a rather precarious situation. I think we play hard ball and try to extract 2 first rounders. We just have to be proactive, to regenerate this list. If we can get Lever to North / Doggies and Trac to Hawks and get ourselves 2-3 additional picks in the top 10-20 over the next 2 years. We will be very well placed to challenge towards the end of this decade.

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Windsors attack on the ball off half back was so gratifying. It is so what we lack. Why has this not been allowed more this year? I get the opponent was sub AFL, but if he could bring this more regurlarly in the coming years he’ll give us something we are so lacking in. It sure why Healy is calling him as a walk up inside midfielder. nevertheless it’s been a typical case of second year blues for him so I hope he goes away and comes back super fit and super strong for next year.

Caroline Wilson’s article 2 August 2025
Would his kicking be any better? How many players does he burn inside 50

Love when Pies get a slice of neutral umpiring.

Can we officially say the Dan Houston trade is a flop yet?

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
You take what win you can get but WCE are as bad as they come. If we can win 1-2 out of the last 3 games I’d be stoked.

NON-MFC: Round 21
Different type of player. Trac and Oliver were inside mods. If the game had not become so offensive in nature, they would have excelled. The modern game suits Bont to a tee. I’d say Callaghan is placed to be the next best player in the comp. FWIW I don’t rate Daicos in the same class as those two.
