  1. Once we get H. Reid, the new midfield will be complete.

Are you doing this trade >> Kozzy (Freo), Oliver (Geelong) << Freos 1st, Freos F1, Geelong 1st, Then >> Geelong 1st, Freo F1, MFC 2nd << Reid. Might have to give a little more but to open negotiations.

Funnily enough it seems like it’s built on contest and defence… with a turnover twist Funny how Darcy gets through a concussion test with that knee to the head… and yet was seeing stars with a glancing Kozzy shoulder after going to ground in Rd 24 last year.

Their forwards are not that great, serviceable, it not the stand out. It’s their ball movement and smart decision making that essentially gives them a fair crack. As someone else also said they work extremely hard and are very fit.

So Marshall another Brissy academy. How does it work when they play their football at Sandy ? So many concessions to non Vic clubs. Blow the academies away they compromise the draft. So many clubs have reloaded at the top through FS and academy picks.

Surely that was deliberate? Petty got one paid against GWS for the same thing.
  7. I’d say he is the only one that has composure going into the f50. He is only really let down by his athletic ability. If he gets the ball enough around half forward he’d get a lot of score involvements
  8. I think one of the boundary riders on the Fox broadcast mentioned It after over hearing it during the huddle at Q1.
  9. I said earlier today, its hard to point the F50 connection issue. Is it: Forwards failing to move and crowding the hot spot, which then causes midfielders to bomb it in long as they dont want to cause a turnover? OR Forwards seeing the midfielders always bombing it into the hot spot, so they dont move and rather crowd the hotspot We heard Chaplin rip into the forwards last week and telling them to work harder so perhaps the current working theory is 1. If we see better movement and midfielders not honouring the short hit up, then I'd expect the axe swinging for them next week.
  10. Why? He has been absolutely hopeless this year. Out of position, dropping marks and cannot get himself into the game. Going to the 2's to get some confidence back will be good for him.
  11. Some real question marks on the selections. Glad he's finally making some changes, but Fritta did show a bit more in the last 2 weeks. JVR and Hendo i agree with though. Next week id be putting - as others have said - the midfielders on watch especially Rivers and Viney.
  12. It begs the question what came first....the 'bang it to the hot spot because there is no leading' or 'no one is leading so bang it in to the hot spot'.

Doesn’t bode well for the players intelligence if this is the stuff they are not doing.

    Pretty basic stuff.
  15. Why on earth would Treacy come to us? Unless he is getting massively underpaid.
  16. I’d say within 5-10% of their peak will still having them playing top line footy. Maybe not making AA teams but still damaging and pulling their weight.
  17. Agreed. I think Oliver is the player with the least drop in form when compared to Trac, Rivers, Viney and Sparrow.

Maybe if Bevo comes along, he can bring an uncontracted Bont with him? Would that make you all change your mind about him coming to the Dees ? 😀

Perhaps. The counter-argument is that players may not want to play this way, that they are sick and tired of defence and contest; by being continually banged up and stifled. Contest and defence method was brutal on teh players. Perhaps there is a middle ground here where we look to contest and defense as part of the phase without the ball, but then develop our turnover & ball movement game with the ball, which has actually improved.
  20. Each to there own. Its great to see Trac back away, but for me, he burnt too many bridges to go down the captaincy route. At the end of the day the playing group will have a say in the matter so if they are onboard with Trac being elected captain so be it. Im not over-the-moon with Lever as captain so I'm really clueless as to who should be leading this club onfield. I think Max would have liked to step aside last year and is really struggling with it this year.
  21. It beggars belief that this same old tripe is being dished up. Anyone who thinks that we will part with a 2x ALFCA 4xBF, 3xAA for a packet of chips (Oliver is still 27) is outright mad. Of course his salary is at ~$1M per year. Other clubs would have likely paid him higher. I'm realistic in that he's not worth 3 x Top 10 picks. But a Top 10 and a Future 1st is fair value. Its a similar story for Trac 2xBF; 4xAA. He's a bit older (29) but probably will have a longer career given his professionalism and standards.

We know it’s there and posed whether this is coached - I don’t think it is. Probably the old insular, low on confidence, I have to try harder mindset that is behind this.

Well he’d be able to certainly get the AFLs attention on a number of matters; give us a good opportunity to secure Caulfield. Not sure what a downside would be.

I have to say he is very convincing. I’m drinking the cool-aid, knowing it’s cool-aid but liking the taste and wanting more. What is wrong with me!

If he has torn his torn his plantar fascia, he will play. I have heard people try and do this speed up recovery as the pain can be quite limiting so what Simon is saying is not far fetched.
