Months ago he said he’s sorry but he can’t tell me why there’s a delay. I thought he meant he knows why there’s a delay but he’d rather not share the reasons behind it. At the last captain’s run I told him I’m guessing the announcement will come shortly after the new coach announcement and he said that’s probably what will happen. That’s when I discovered he himself doesn’t really know why there’s a delay. His manager is the one who’d know.

I didn’t notice I was speaking in past tense. Sometimes when I’m fired up my grammar deserts me. I was likely unconsciously thinking back to this time last year when stories abounded about them wanting out. Neither Tracc nor Clarrie wanted to leave then and neither wants to leave now.
