Thank you DZ. I only got to watch the final 15 minutes or so of the Casey match which shows how busy we were, but I watched the replay today and I’m very happy with what I saw. I’m so proud of my boy Luker. His on-field qualities complement his great off-field qualities. He’s an absolute delight off-field, he takes everything in his stride, even wearing the mask doesn’t bother him. He said playing with it is no different to playing without it. And he doesn’t dramatise anything, quite the opposite… he was gravely ill 14 months ago but he doesn’t think it was so big a deal. He sees it as I was unwell and now I’m well again. Watching him develop as a player and a person is a joy.

We cleaned up! We had a steady flow of customers and we weren’t left with much unsold stock. We were packing/cleaning up during the second match and I went and rounded up any groups of (ideally large) teenage boys and we offloaded most of the remaining food and bottles of water 😁 We found a woman who has five sons so we gave her several loaves of Baker’s Delight bread to take home. Turns out she’s Nancy Cross, mum of Paddy. I also found the Mentha clan and talked them into a snag feast. Ricky’s brother Gaylon is a man-mountain but dropped the ball on this occasion… he only ate one!

Pro tip: Give up. Take it from someone who knows… it’s so not worth the grief.

He did play for Casey. I only saw the last 15 minutes of the match but was told he went well.

The club has changed its venue for Wednesday training this week to Casey Fields. There will be a Captain’s Run (the first one for the year!) on Thursday at Gosch’s Paddock (most likely at 11am but will confirm before the day).

Max and AMW are running through the scrubland behind Casey. Should we worry about those slitherers you talk about. I don’t wanna see Snake-bite on the injury list.

Need to mention that 2/3 of the temporary stands have been removed. There’s only one set left standing (the smallest of the three). Way less seating now. Apart from the stand where players’ families and friends sit, this is all all there is:

The North players are out on the ground now. Our players have gone back inside, except for Maxy who’s running laps around the outside of the ground, and Culls, AMW and Petts who are sprinting on and off around the boundary. They stopped in front of our tent and I got to say Ready Set GO! YAY! Unrelated: I turn 8yo soon

I would but my mum always told me it’s a sin to lie. 😜

HUUUGE red & blue thanks to a very kind Dees fan named Greg who owns three bakeries in the Casey region and who has very generously offered to supply the bread for our sausage sizzle today at no cost. The bakeries are Baker’s Delight stores: Fountain Gate, Cranbourne and Eden Rise (Berwick Sth) so if you’re ever in the area pop on in and indulge in the amazing food Baker’s Delight offers. I’ve not yet met Greg (I will in a matter of minutes because he’s on his way here to the ground to deliver the bread) but we’ve chatted and he’s a lovely guy. He would’ve remained anonymous only I insisted he let me tell other Dees fans about his kindness. Edit: Greg is a great guy. He’s given us so much bread as well as snacks for us to enjoy while we work. ❤️💙

Right? I mean, there’ll be three other food vans there but price-wise our food is the best option. And it’s made with love 😁 The other vendors likely barrack for Carlton or Collingwood or whatever other team that’s not Melbourne. ❤️💙

Another shameless plug for our sausage sizzle. Please come to the DA tent for a delicious and very cheap feed. Don’t make me bring unsold items home. My precious little chooks love the bread but my son is so over sausages that if I bring even one into our house he’ll vomit. See y’all there! GO YOU MIGHTY DEES!!!

@Bring-Back-Powell on the prematch thread you mentioned Max, Riv and Koz* and whether they’d be playing today. They will be playing but with managed minutes, in particular Max who won’t get as much time on ground as usual. Also on the prematch thread someone asked about starting times. Depending on who you ask the main match starts at 4pm, 4:15 or 4:30. The reserves match starts from 6:30pm. The day is scheduled to finish at 8pm. *I asked Kozzy if he’d be playing today and he said, “If I’m selected.” 😅

Interesting how two people can see the same thing but their observations are starkly different. I saw Shane run at full pace. He was giving it his all. He was given instructions which I could hear and he followed through with them each and every time. Yes, he looked spent after every exertion but he hasn’t been in full training for so long, of course he looks exhausted much of the time. One thing we can agree on though is we both hope you’re proved wrong

At the time I didn’t realise he was there. I was talking to Wheels before training had started and Flash was with him. He’s such a great person, always speaks well of the Dees.
