  1. Dogs have never been afraid to cut lose players once they no longer fit into the team, they have also drafted exceptionally well for a long time. Finding guys like Feijah with late picks is gold. But even losing guns like Smith and Dunkley hasn't hurt them. Also helps to get someone like Sam Darcy through F/S too.
  2. Take a look at the game against GWS in 2021 where he had three chances to win it and mucked them all up. Real peaks and valleys sort of player.
  3. Hunt bombed the footy at every opportunity, not unlike a lot of our players, but as an outside player that really limited him and dulled his weapons. He was also not a particularly smart footballer. Windsor is a smarter player and while I agree his disposal hurts him he does actually attempt to hit more dangerous kicks that Hunt never really did. I mostly blame Goodwin for Windsor's drop in form this year. Experimenting with positions is fine but Windsor really provides nothing in the backline. Failing a return to the wing I'd honestly rather he be playing at Casey learning how to become a full time mid.
  4. Have the AFL ever actually taken a position on Pokies? Getting out of Pokies seems to be a largely club lead initiative.
  5. Geez it's not going to look great if Caufield falls through and Waverley was just sitting there for 1/10th the price.
  6. I'd rather just play Tmac forward at that point.
  7. Wasn't that basically the plan when Grundy came on board and it failed miserably and Max just got his full time ruck position back? Gawn is one of the worst kicks for goal in the game. He had a few years where he was awesome when outside 50 but has even seemed to lose that weapon. If we want to kick an extra 3 behinds a game while suffering behind the play then sure put him forward.
  8. Just get him out of the backline. Completely wasted there.
  9. Surely we can get some dodgy Slurpee sponsorships for the players we're keen on trading in.
  10. We can call it the 7/11 Centre
  11. So Pert's been kicked out (wasn't the whole Caufield plan his idea?) and we can't have Guerra looking at it until he officially starts in three months time and also the business case has been pushed back until at least the end of the year and we have no idea who is actually going to pay for the damn thing? Is that about it for recent developments? I'm not brimming with confidence about this.
  12. Off the top of my head there's Cameron Bruce at Brisbane, Justin Leppitsch and Hayden Skipworth at Collingwood both highly rated, Steven King and Nigel Lappin at Geelong. Craig Jennings at GWS would be an ironic replacement. Plenty of talent out there tbh.
  13. Swans looked completely reinvented in 2021. One of the first teams that realised the ball movement was about to become far easier. Geelong, Collingwood and Brisbane would all follow suit the next year. Simpson has very similar philosophies to Goodwin as a coach it sounds like.
  14. The midfield looked far better when Viney was out of the side. Also reckon we looked a lot more balanced in that game against Gold Coast last year when both Oliver and Petracca weren't playing. Basically we can't play all three in the midfield, and we are wasting guys like Windsor and Langford by prioritising the old guard. I think Goodwin should really drop one of Viney or Oliver but highly doubt he does.
  15. West coast are a mess and that job was a poisoned chalice. You're basically agreeing to 5 years of pain before likely being sacked when all the hard work is done. There are plenty of good assistants around. One we should certainly look at is Brisbane's midfield coach Cameron Bruce.
  16. I don't think we should trade Petracca specifically. But I do think we need to seriously look at our list and how we're going to actually mount our next flag tilt. Don't think we can rely on Trac, Oliver and Viney to be the ones kicking the ball inside 50 any more. Gotta find a way to start giving the younger players more responsibility. Definitely need to make some hard list decisions with some senior players at years end.
  17. Not sure about decent form, he's been well down this year. A 30 year old down on form with a massive tail on his contract? We won't get much imo.
  18. I'm sort of confused by this reasoning. If the forwards don't trust the mids and the mids don't know how to kick it to the forwards then it speaks to a complete systemic disfunction on the field and essentially players going into self-preservation mode. We don't make excuses like that in other areas of the ground. Going against the team rules with regards to positioning or decision making is the kind of thing that gets players dragged or dropped.
  19. This is it. The club admitted we underperformed last year. Reaffirmed finals as the expectation and argued that the changes we made would take us there. We are now more than half way through the year and sit at 5-9. The chances of us catching fire on the run home seem miniscule right now. So does the club say they missed the mark with their expectations? Or do they admit that we have failed to get the most out of ourselves?
  20. He had to have an HIA that took him off the ground when he was on fire. If he was staging it backfired anyway. Brereton is just a complete moron.
  21. Petracca is definitely (and understandably) more worried about contact than he used to be. I've noticed him pull out of a number of contests this year, his injury is still in his mind. Completely understandable but it does make him a lesser player unfortunately.
  22. Who are you talking about? We have drafted midfielders and half backs and traded in players who couldn't get a game at their previous clubs. The only real forward we have brought in is an injury prone McAdam who was never that great to begin with.
  23. What's your point? That changing coaches must be always successful to be worth it? All you need to do is ask whether our team should be performing better than they are, if not why not? In my view many of our issues are system based. Issues that have been present for a while and that Goodwin has not been able to fix. Therefore, changing coach is the correct call. On your list management point. Teams make list changes every single year. But a senior coach has a major say in their vision for the list. So Goodwin has had a massive say in our list build.
  24. Are you basing this on expected score? With the exception of the Giants game that argument only works if our opponents also don't kick above average in those games. Too much being left too small margins either way.
  25. Goodwin has always relied on weight of numbers to generate score. It's all about getting the ball as deep as possible creating a contest and defending the exits. Lock the ball inside the forward half and keep pumping it in. Eventually a shot at goal will materialise. That is how he believes we should play and basically always has. He hates turnovers and intercept marks, so leading forwards aren't worth it. Crowd up the forwardline, make a contest and bring it to ground. A ball up or a throw in is a win for Goodwin. Anyone who thinks we are actually trying to change the way we enter our forward 50 is kidding themselves. It's more of the same and we will continue to play this way until he's gone.
