  1. Cheers billyb. I'm an avid collector of utterances that have or will only ever be spoken once by a single individual among many many billions over the entire course of human history back to the advent of language and through to our species' inevitable extinction.
  2. I have a fairly good idea that anyone wishing a trade backfires on the coach of the Melbourne Football Club is not a supporter of the Melbourne Football Club. Farewell No Soup.
  3. Consider yourself bagged. And hopefully shipped to Port (where the only soup you'll get there has a pie floating in it).
  4. You are committing so many logical fallacies that I'm going to join in by not joining in and go straight for argumentum ad lapidem in response.
  5. Comparisons between Mark Neeld's school-principal posturing and Simon Goodwin and Peter Jackson's concerted efforts to instill cultural change at the MFC are just so so wide of the mark as to engender absolute genuine disbelief. Or in internet parlance: I don't even . . . And this is before examining their respective records.
  6. I have no idea where to start. Oh, yes I do. That bit about 2011-13.
  7. Umm? He's retiring. So the loyalty and contract statement can only logically be taken as a dig at Colin?
  8. So maybe Sam will now choose another role model and perhaps live up to his own potential?
  9. Tracky McTrackmark.
  10. We're in far more trouble than I thought if the MFC powers-brokers are the Haymes Paint marketing department.
  11. C'mon Saty. Live a little and say something naughty like you know you want to.
  12. So without overly complicating things, the state of play is three senior spots available with 29, 31, and 36 currently in hand (before adjustment). Somewhere between 47 and 66 for Balic and a later pick for Smith upgrade. We could package a couple second-rounders and move up toward a late first, which would perhaps leave us with an (est.) 18, 35 and 55. We could also upgrade just slightly for little obvious return to ensure a draftee on our radar is secure. And we could also of course bring in someone by surprise (for a second or maybe a pair of seconds). From an upcoming TTP perspective however, we're probably at the stage where we can't bring in much more immediate or exposed talent in the junior bracket. The club is also clearly set on a course of sustained success, which means getting your systems in place and perpetuating that cycle. But: taking three second-rounders to the draft is suddenly an exciting and once unexpected prospect (with Jason Taylor in mind). It offers us the chance to spread our bets and take at least one speculative dip. If we can nail one absolute steal from that swag, one consistent performer, and end up with one bust, I think we'd all be pretty chuffed.
  13. The EFC have just offered up an alley-oop by launching a public competition to name their new training and admin 'facility'. http://www.essendonfc.com.au/news/2017-10-17/name-our-home Best suggestion wins a prize* *there is no prize.
  14. Hunt 57 ANB 40 Omac 53 Hannan 46 Go Dees!
  15. Mick's point regarding U18 may well be valid, but is this not a contradiction? Mcaguane says Schache has failed to adapt to AFL. Uses the example that he took 5 contested grabs in his second AFL game (before fading)? Something amiss? We may well know what that is.
  16. I get what you're saying rpfc but I don't think any right-minded posters supportive of the Watts trade think he was 'Ground Zero' for poor commitment and preparation - rather, that his personal commitment and preparation as a senior member of our team and in a position of influence wasn't sufficient. Further, I don't think anyone supportive of the trade is saying Watts is directly responsible for our failure, and as a footballer will be the difference between a flag or not (although plenty are arguing that we will have no chance without Watts), but that we're continuing to develop a culture that will push us towards success. Lastly, Jack Watts was unfairly made the face of the MFC through a combination of factors - Melbourne supporter criticism was the least of these. And I'm happy to concede that this may well have played a part in his departure - Goodwin, when asked yet another question about Watts in a late-season post-match presser (when Watts had been demoted), was the testiest I have seen him. The powers-that-be no longer want Watts as the face of the MFC and the centre of attention as the club seeks to re-brand itself - and Watts' poster-boy status extending back into our dark past, while not the reason for our failure, is symbolic of it.
  17. rpfc - can you point me to the posters who blame Watts for all our ills and have been so eager for his exit?
  18. And lol Port Adelaide. Koch publicly blasts the playing group for not being fully committed to the team cause. PAFC respond by bringing in Watts, Motlop and Rockliff.
  19. I sincerely hope that the club doesn't take #31 to the draft. It's not that I'm not excited by the prospect of Taylor working his magic in the second round, but that I suspect the poor lad drafted will be the subject of bizarre revenge scrutiny from the Watts fanatics for years to come.
  20. Even when you're being helpful or informative it comes across and impatient or terse due to that new avatar.
  21. I think Col could carve out a late career in Gaelic Footy. Has the shape and the motion.
  22. There will be plenty of photo-ops - and pictures of merit - when Jake has one hand on the cup.
  23. Tmac named in most line-ups at HF - but went back in our crucial match against the Pies. Did I miss something (other than Tomald doing what Tomald is prone to do in the back-line)? Is this an assessment and projection up-the-ground derived from our opinion of his best position, or based on some indication from the FD?
  24. Fancy being a person who willingly associates themselves with Ricky? That's one fat sauce-stain that no amount of scrubbing will ever get out.
  25. I had a dream last night that I was lining up for the MFC in the the centre-circle next to Brayshaw who was rucking (but he was like really tall) as Jones was approaching for the restart, and I asked Gus which side of the tap Nat generally prefers, and then I woke up. This has gone on for far too long.
