I probably should have made it clearer that I pulled those figures from my hat. #Demonlandtruthandreconciliationcommission

This has been a divisive episode no doubt. This is a board for passionate supporters and it's not unusual for heated back-n-forths among ourselves. And it's clear that many people are deeply and genuinely upset. But if any of you here are the ones polluting the MFC's social media feeds and flinging rubbish directly at our club in public then you ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BALIC

Bad things against our opposition? -
I do BB. Jack Watts staying would have also had an influence on how much we could spend on our players. But in this climate of outrage people are filthy about the perception that we are digging into OUR own pockets and forking over OUR hard-earned cash to pay for Jack to play for Port.
-
I'm so relieved to hear that the AFL will only be paying 0.75% of our salary cap space to Port rather than the obscene 1.5% first reported, and can rest a bit easier that we'll be allotted 99.25% rather than the disastrous 98.75% for the next two years. I think overall this news perhaps just about tips Trade Week in our favour - despite paying overs for Balic when we could have probably picked him up as a delisted free agent anyway.

The facility remains nameless because the marketing department can't seem to find the paperwork?

Fair Enuff is only one word in Richmond.

Fold-down sunroof?

Don't know if Collard can kick but he's got the illustrious golden hair to fill the void left by Jack.

This is my jerky response. And this is the post ProDee was 'gratuitously' responding to, from a poster who's been here five minutes and fanned the flames just about moreso than anyone else: 'Watts all the fuss about? Pick 31 is a ripper. From 2004 to 2013 here is the stellar line up of pick 31's: Jarrad Moore 68 games no longer playing Trent West 70 games no longer playing Clayton Collard 1 game no longer playing John Mcarthy 39 games no longer playing Jordan Roughead 126 games still playing Jason Tuff 4o games no longer playing Ariel Steinberg 10 games no longer playing Jackson Mcarit 54 games no longer playing Kamdyn Mcintosh 53 games still playing Malcolm Karpanny 7 games no longer playing Conclusion: Jack Watts may have had his flawed, but really do you really want to trade him for a Clayton Collard? But then again......

And some clubs this year seem just outright paralysed.
-
Only speculation as mentioned, but my thinking was that we would have better compensated Freo if we weren't using a later pick. Thus for the three ins: 47, a second-rounder, and something packaged. Still, I wouldn't be surprised though if we just see the #47 used in some odd positional jockeying up and down the draft order.

His stat-line for that day (in his second game) if anyone is interested: 15 disposals (6 contested), 4 marks, 5 tackles and a goal. Edit: And in his third AFL game (the WA derby): 19 disposals (9 contested), 6 marks, 4 tackles and a goal. -
I'm thinking that sending #66 to Freo means that #47 is in play for the draft. Just vague speculation.

Along with memory loss, another symptom of old age can be strange, distant reminiscings.

I actually suspect an in-principle deal was made in good faith between the clubs at the beginning of the trade period for Fremantle to receive our highest inactive pick at its conclusion - with the Watts hold-up related to what we could/would do with the returned pick. I base this suspicion on very little evidence. -

Congrats to Josh and the team on a great deal and welcome to the Melbourne Football Club Harley. -
If they're insisting on an aeronautical theme, why not borrow from Seattle and include the Space Needle?
-
I think you deserve a prize of some sorts for this line. To stand out in such a crowded field is quite the achievement.

Can't give you the up-to-date figures for this precise point in time, but if you scroll about 12cm up you can access the data from roughly ten hours ago.

So I went back and read the start of this thread and it was like watching From Dusk till Dawn: normal, normal, normal, VAMPIRES WTF!?

2017 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Skuit replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hey Steve. You've mentioned Petrucelle's explosiveness previously, but which three on this list would you personally take if you had a free hit - i.e. those with the potential-most upside as impact players regardless of current concerns for consistency etc.? Cheers. -
Assuming the secretary of the North Melbourne FC types at 90 wpm, it will take all of 36 seconds to draft an email saying, 'Thank you for considering the North Melbourne Football Club with your generous offer. We have given it our due consideration, but our internal research indicates that you don't currently hold the picks outlined in your proposal. In this respect, we will have to graciously decline at this point in time. Kind regards, NMFC.'

Jack Viney doesn't think. See ball get ball.

It all just seems too straight-foward and reasonable as an explanation though. I'd prefer to slash my wrists with Occam's razor than believe anything lacking in the appropriate outlandishness as that.
