I only recall us being linked to Aish at pick 2 for the majority of the year, which I rather happy about at the time as a Redlegs supporter, and of which eventuality I'm now super-happy about as a Demons supporter.

So who would you pick between Kelly, Kelly, and Kelly? And do you think Kelly would be a decent trade for Kelly and Kelly?

Bont, no doubt. Clarry will eclipse Cripps and the class of Kelly is a cherry. Bontempelli is the rare game-breaker.

This sliding doors business is getting a tad out of hand. In only slightly different circumstances, we could just as well have sent pick 23 to GWS. And then it would have been Tyson, Salem & Hunt for Kelly and the price of a Sylvia rather than Lobb (although possibly then Hartung, McStay or M. Crouch). Or some such. We traded picks 2, 20 and 72 for Tyson and picks 9 and 53. Whom each team picked up thereafter is partly a matter of luck - especially with the later speculative picks - and therefore should be judged according to different criteria. We might have well wanted Sharenberg or Aish, or even Bonts, but who knows? We have Salem. The crux of the deal was giving up a shot on Kelly and a second-rounder for Tyson and a top-ten pick. Was that a win at the time? In my opinion, yes.
  5. High-profile young Dons' player? Was it Joe or Zach? Subject to definition but I'm not sure how many others meet this profile description.
  6. Is this Demonland's first father-son recruit?

We're going the tank at the behest of GC to ensure agreeable future trading relations?
  9. I doubt that a motion would provide any solid evidence subsequent to Viney squaring up.
  10. Quick - everyone over to the selection failures thread!
  11. Does anyone know which knuckle he did? Just from a forensics perspective. And if perhaps there was a puff of smoke seen rising from behind that leafy tree on the field?
  12. It's funny you should say that. I split my index knuckle hitting someone playing in a match of footy. It was the last time I did either of those things. But the guy was unmarked. My throw was off and he ducked slightly and I caught some solid bone around the top off his head. I don't actually care if that's how Jack did it, but that the reporting seems a bit strange. Anyways, I'll move on.
  13. Wait. The reporting and the responses on here re. the timing and circumstances of Viney's injury are all over the shop. AFL article says he hit Ebert in the third which is not true. Mahoney says Viney injured his hand early in the first. Someone said in a tweet it was just before the Ebert incident which was late in the first. And the footage showed attention to Viney's hand after the incident with Ebert. I'm not looking to call anyone a [censored] but just want to understand the truth of what happened. I know the boy is tough, but if he had popped a knuckle early, it's odd that he's then throwing punches with it not too long after. And would it be fair then to conclude he at least aggravated it with Ebert?
  14. Duck, duck, duck, duck . . . and now we have a goose.
  15. Converted from the Bears no doubt . . . Kidding. I agree. First gamer getting used to the heat and pace of the AFL - probably natural to crumple into a little ball when being set upon so quickly on all sides. Showed a willingness to get involved and kept going under the threat of Jones, Bernie and co. signalling their intention to line him up.
  16. . . . he would have helped us even up the free-kick ledger?
  17. Slobbo called him out for a future incidence of ducking? Must have finally reached that worm at the bottom of the bottle.
  18. The crumpling is rubbish or the reaction?
  19. How many did Stretch start as sub? Time to bust out the asterisks.
  20. I mentioned I had a girlfriend, right?
  21. Sometimes when my girlfriend steps on my toe I yell owe and then realise it didn't hurt whatsoever. I then milk her apologies if I sense she might fetch me a soothing whisky and have me recuperate on the couch. .
  22. Gil McLachlan, Mark Evans, Sheehan. Bartlett, Luke Darcy, Frawley, Jakovich, Ling, Matthew Richardson, and Tredrea. Is still the make-up of the Rising Star panel? Clayton is a footballer. If the panelists take their role seriously and review the footage come season's end (where the 1%ers and the like become more evident) then this kid is a very strong chance to take home the trophy.
  23. Not sure if you're confessing to something illegal here bin . . .
  24. This. There are two big assumptions being commonly made. That Freo are his only potential suitors in the West in the event of homesickness and that he'll be signing a mega-long contract now. There are fair reasons for these assumptions but certainly arguments why neither are definite.
  25. Spot on. As a developing team the boys need to stay focused and take it one flag at a time.
