  1. i thought CJ was alright today. not the worst. Sylvia---- he never dominates across half forward--- if he continues like this then he'll never end up as anything. WHY NOT TRY HIM IN THE MIDFIELD. for christs sake just give him a go.
  2. we certainly have a long way to go, and have a lot to work on, but atleast i could see the light at the end of the tunnel today (unlike previous weeks). need to improve - So many basic skill errors. actually pathetic at times. especially handballing errors - need to improve decision-making. don't handpass to a stationary player. Don't kick it sideways unless its 100% safe to do so. think about who's available instaed of just pumping it into the forward line - kicking into the forward line needs work - kick ins need work - how to punch it thru for a point- a basic skill- needs attention immediately. cost us 5 goals today. good signs: - Morton knows how to find the ball and has good skills. he skill sucks at 1 on 1s, but the guy doesn't have a body for afl footy yet, so he'll improve - Wineamiri looked lively. could he be the player to release Davey into the midfield - Bruce and Davey both showed they still have it in them to be dominant afl players. last week i wasn't so sure. - Mclean and Green both tried their guts out- though they are still lacking in skill. Questions need answering- - Why not put Sylvia into the midfield? he doesn't do anything across half-forward. Atleast give him a go as a midfielder. - Garland isn't ready to afl footy, so why is he still in the team? GET IN FRAWLEY! and FINALLLY a defender who can stay with their player on a fast lead. thank you rivers
  3. one supporter has put down a significant amount of money on the demons, and has promised to buy 3000 melbourne membership if we win...
  4. for anyone who thinks we have the capacity to trade off and delist players at years end should take this into consideration... retiring definitely: Neitz Whelan Yze Holland Retiring probably: McDonald White Delist definitely: C.Johnson Warnock That's already 8 players and a hell of a lot of experience! In a perfect world, i would definitely delist Miller, Jamar, Wheatley, as well as try to trade Green, Bruce and Robbo...however the reality is that you can't have such massive list changes in 1 season. Hopefully by 2-3 years time we'll have gotten rid of all our dead wood
  5. great idea to trade for 1st round picks! only 1 problem, we no longer have any players worth a top15 draft choice. we could'v done so in Bruce, Green and Yze, but we have to pay for the lack of foresight of past administrations. the fact that so many of our draftees in the last 4 yrs are starting to look like spuds doesn't help
  6. he looks out of his depth at senior level. drop him
  7. No doubt we are in a rebuilding phase, ala Hawthorn did 3-4 yrs back...but with one big difference. Hawthorn traded Hay, Everitt and Thompson for lots of 1st round picks. they drafted well, but they drafted with top picks. Because of Daniher's lack of foresight, we now have a bunch of 27-28 yr olds who are frikin average players and who have NO trade value. we shouldv traded guyz like bruce and Yze a yr or 2 ago. we are now gonna try and draft our way back into the finals, but we're gonna have to do it the hard way, with only our basic draft picks (and maybe an extra pick 17 here or there.) our drafting in the past has shown hope, but in reality it seems we'v drafted quite poorly. Dunn, Frawley, Garland and Weetra and already looking disapointing, and Mclean and Sylvia are massive dissapointments. Bartram and Rivers can hardly get on the park, Pettard isn't the same bc of his life threatening injury, Grimes already has back problems, and Davey seems to have lost the plot since the StKilda Final 2 years ago... im struggling to see the light atm
  8. my interpretation. any more than 10 list changes, and ur in for a definite bottom 4 result. CJ will also be delisted
  9. i thought we could. isn't the rule, if you win less 8 games of less over 2 seasons you gain a priority pick BEFORE the first round. we won 5 last yr...therefore if we win 3 games or less this yr we get pick 1 and 2... can someone confirm this?
  10. we can't really afford to be delisting anyone at years end. most changes you can make to a list in 1 season is around 8. Retiring at yrs end- Whelan- definitely will retire. body has failed him Neitz- definitely will retire. Holland- definitely will retire Yze- definitely will retire McDonald- most probably his body will finally give up on him by yrs end. might go one more yr. White- see McDonald that's 6 already. Warnock will obviously be delisted, he was only kept on the list this yr in case of disaster striking our KPP. Jamar will be lucky to hold his spot after so many shitty yrs on our list but i think he's contracted. that's 8...we don't have much room to move for making delistings
  11. Are we screwed for next yr? Yes. are we any more screwed next yr than we are this yr? No. Neitz- hasn't played a great game for a couple of yrs. will he rly be missed? Whelan- won't be missed hasn't played properly for about 3 yrs Holland- is depth and won't be missed Yze- doesn't make our team and won't be missed JMac- is solid each week. his presence will be missed but at the end of the day he is not a star anymore and his outputs are less each week. is a solid player nowadays and has become replaceable over the past 12 months. White- the least replaceable of all the retiring players, but isn't a star anymore. probably doesn't give any more output than P.Johnson does each week.
  12. Garland and Weetra are dump on a stick. they have either zero talent or are not ready for afl. either way send them back to the sandy reserves where they belong.
  13. OUT: Garland- Either is a truely [censored] footballer or is simply not ready for afl level. i hope its the latter. either way he should not be playing in the seniors Weetra- what on earth does Bailey see in this hack. Read Garland and the same analysis applies. others should be dropped, it doesn't matter who really bc everyone's equally bad as each other. In: Bate Rivers Moloney Newton
  14. i think the worst part about our leadership group isn't that they don't show leadership onfield, it's that they are ALL pretty shizen players who honestly wouldn't make the starting 18 or the best 12 afl sides. we are a rabble. pure and simple, our youngsters are no where near as good as the youngsters of other afl clubs.
  15. after round 1, i thank our lucky stars that we traded Johnstone just in the nick of time. the guy is 28 and is inconsistent and overrated. instead we now have a guy who's 18 and will hopefully have a long and successful career with us. we need talented youngsters, not 28 yr olds
  16. my brother sat next to him at the footy on sunday. he said that he was filthy at the performance and looked v angry
  17. i reckon Dunn could easily be a kpp. he has the height, skills and athleticism, and he has a goal kicking nous as well. We should play Newton, Dunn, Garland, Frawley and Bate in Kep Positions ALL YEAR LONG. unless they are freaks of nature, the only way to get a dominent key position player is to inject 50 games into them playing as key position players. very few KPP become dominant before them. there's no reason to waste 2-3 seasons getting enough experience into these guyz before they can start playing important roles in key positions. play them this year when we are crap, and reap the benefits 2 years down the track. Garland may look young, inexperienced and thin now. but apparently Bailey reckons he has bucket loads of talent and will become a great player. the only way he will become a great player is by playing him in the afl even if that means a bit before he is ready. Neitz will retire at years end. Carrol is useless. Miller is useless. Frawley, Rivers, Garland, Dunn, Newton and Bate (and i'm hoping Morton if he bulks up) are gonna be our KPP in 3 years. lets play them now so that in 3 years they will be ready to dominate the competition.
  18. Natanui is 196cm tall...hope he grows a couple of cms. appaz has a huge leap, and dominated Kruiser in the ruck (who is 199.5cm) by jumping a foot over the top of him
  19. Just silly to suggest White won't be playing number 1 ruck. firstly, he deserved to be in the team above Meesen, and secondly realistically he is ahead of Meesen.
  20. imagine if we'd won one less game last year...we'd end up with pick 1 n 2
  21. that is such a young (albeit exciting) team. the only players really missing from it are Bartram, Sylvia and Rivers (all of whom are really young anyways) and whelan. who wouldv thought in round 1 last year, that our round 1 team this year would have in it: Garland, Pettard, Buckley, Newton and Weetra in our best 22 players... what a huge rise out of the wilderness from isaac weetra. he was average in sandy ressies last year, and now debuts round 1
  22. i bloody hope the likes of Nick Sautner, Chris Lamb and Ryan Ferguson don't play for sandy this year. all they do is play solid roles in the key posts...these are the most important positions that we need to develop. we should be having our 18-20yr olds developing their games in the key posts and not on the wings!
  23. B: Bell - Carroll - Miller HB: Pettard- Frawley- Yze C: Buckley - McLean - Moloney HF: Davey - Newton - Morton F: Robertson - Neitz - Green R: White - McDonald - Jones I: Johnson - Weetra - Morton - Bartram Unavailable coz injured, or bc they need 1-2 weeks of praccy matches still: Bate Bruce Rivers Dunn Sylvia (suspended) Wheatley Whelan Grimes Those who missed out: CJ, Garland, Bode, Meesan, Holland, Warnock, Jamar, Maric, Cheeney, McNamara, Martin
  24. if we win 3 games our priority pick will be AFTER the first round... i.e. pick 1,17,18
  25. Retiring at years end: Neitz- almost certainly will retire Whelan- almost certainly will retire Yze- almost certainly will retire Holland- almost certainly will retire McDonald- Probably will retire White- Likely to retire, but probably retire in 2010. we will still desperately need him in 2009. Delisted at years end: Warnock- Kept purely as depth this year and will not play a game unless required by injury Jamar- kept as depth and shouldnt play more than a handful of games. only way he will play is if PJ and Meesan let Bailey down Wheatley- Could go either way. if he plays most games theres no way he'll retire, but if others go ahead of him on the flanks then theres no position for him. C.Johnson- make or break year. if he doesn't play 14 games then y keep him on the list? we should have another turnover of 9-10 players...finally get all the dead wood out. its taken too long.
