  1. i love rivers and rate him, but if he's our current best player then that shows how farked we are. basically didn't play last year, and has had 2 warm up games at afl level this season. get serious guyz
  2. jamie charman is one of the best ruckman going around and is 196cm. Kruiser is 199cm. do people realize that 3 or so cm is nothing. especially when you have the biggest leap the game has ever seen. plus he's only 17 so might grow to 198ishcm
  3. PSD pick 1 always picks up a useful player. ruck problem could be solved this year if we get Naitanui. Naitanui and PJ ruck combo would be great
  4. Maybe our forward line in 2 years will be: Sylvia, Bate, Dunn Davey, Newton, Maric. I know all of those guyz are down in confidence now, but if they can develop well and get up in confidence, then that could potentially be awesome
  5. Bell - Frawley - Carrol Bartram - River - Bruce Sylvia - Mclean - Morton Green - Bate - Dunn Davey - Newton - Robertson P.Johnson- Buckley - Jones Int: McDonald, Meesan , Pettard, Moloney youngster to blood in the coming rounds: S.Martin, Cheney, Wonemirri, Maric, Grimes, Valenti Forced retired- Neitz, Yze, Holland, Whelan (maybe harsh on Whelan, but should only play as depth. we're building towards to future and he isn't it!) Sent to sandy for the rest of the year unless injuries- Miller, Jamar, CJ, Bode, Wheatley, Weetra
  6. Melbourne should have won 8-9 games last year with the amount of 1-10 pt losses we had. What about when we lost to the bulldogs when we were leading and had just kicked a goal with 30 second to go. How about against north when we had the ball in our hands with 30 seconds to go and leading. If anything, it wouldv been unfair if we had gotten the priority pick and we didn't deserve it
  7. sylvia < Mclean. and that's coming from sylvinator! i want the kid to have a break out season more than anyone, but Mclean and Jones are the only 2 good players at our club atm
  8. no marquee player would want to come to melbourne bc we are too far off a flag. our best bet is to trade astutely and try to get a guy that will improve a specific area of our game. Cameron Wood to Collingwood was an example of a really clever trade which filled a hole in their team. we should do likewise
  9. there is one thing that people can take heart from. Carlton have spent 6 years down the bottom before they have started to make the rise off the bottom. People might think, [censored] i can't take 6 years of this. HOWEVER, Carlton lost many draft picks, and wasted lots of draft picks of recycled players in order to stay competitive. We have 3-4 years of drafting behind us already- Mclean, Syvlia, Jones, Pettard, Frawley, Morton, Grimes, Maric, Dunn, Bate and Newton are talented youngsters and are atleast a start towards the rebuild. In that sense, we are 3-4 years ahead of the Carlton team of 6 years ago. Sure, we might spend 2-3 years in the bottom 4. It seems likely. but i don't think it's gonna be more than that. With Neitz, White, Yze and McDonald retiring in the next 2 years we'll have plenty of salary cap to get a superstar perhaps also. Plus a few top draft picks will help also.
  10. i heard from a reliable source that almost all the players don't like Bailey. its not a good sign
  11. Carlton win more than 5 games so they can't get the number 1 pick for the 5th years in a row. honestly it's starting to [censored] me off. oh, and id like to see some kind of spine being developed for the future. Frawley (FB) Rivers (CHB) Mclean (Centre) Bate/Dunn (CHF) Newton (FF) ??? could this be our future spine? atm Frawley is languishing is the ressies, Bate is injured, Dunn looks crap, Newton seems disinterested and pretty average and Rivers is still making his way back from injury :-(
  12. reliable source- the players hate Dean Bailey. This is not a joke. it's true. and is a very worrying sign
  13. CJ is one of the worst players to ever pull on a melbourne jumper. i rate him worse than luke Williams. he would not be on any afl list other than melbourne
  14. Neitz can't be dropped. if they want to drop him, they persuade him to retire. i wouldn't be too surprised to see a midyear retirement
  15. Melbourne demons finals: 1998,2000,2002,2004,2005,2006, including a grand final, preliminary final and a few 5ths (shouldve probably gotten preliminary finals). we have gotten some awesome entertainment and finals over the last 10 years. Why should you support this club. Becuase to stop supporting the club when we are down is farkin pathetic, weak and deplorable. u should be ashamed of yourself!!!!
  16. why won't Bailey f@%$@# play Sylvia in the midfield. he will only ever fulfill his potential as a midfielder
  17. there's only one thing wrong with our club atm imho. When someone pinpoints the reason why none of our really good players ever become star players, they will find the reason why we are struggling atm.
  18. you're right. wheatley playing good footy is a bonus. just need carrol and bell playing good footy also. i would love to see one of Frawley of Stefan Martin chucked in to play against some quality forwards. we desperately need to find a backman who can play defensively on the best big forwards. i how i wish we had Brian Lake, he is such a great player (i'd take a Nathan Brown from collingwood also).
  19. Am i the only one getting annoyed that Frawley isn't getting a chance to develop at afl level. Our KPP included: Carrol- good against players his size but he is actually only 189cm so doesn't have the size to take any of the big forwards on the world- Hall, Riewold, Franklin, Brown, Thompson etc. Rivers- Good defender, but certainly doesn't thrive at full back. more suited to across half forward. Plays best footy against the 3rd best forward where he can dominate them and float across half back Warnock&Holland- both in their last season so no point reffering to them. Stefan Martin- hope is that he will be able to play on the huge forwards, like Resting ruckman. however, there is no hope of his becoming the permanent fullback. Colin Garland- atm is hopeless, but hope is that he will turn into a Rivers type defender, and not a strong full back. Therefore, we are missing a fullback. the only player on our list who has the size and nous to eventually fill this position is Frawley. if i were coach id play him every week against the best forward. he might not win every contest, but it would defintely fast track his development. just see Nathan Brown from collingwood. we need to fast track frawley
  20. at the end of the day, Carlton are the youngest team in the afl. sure, they are pitiful atm, but there scope for improvement is HUGE compared to ours. There midfield is actually really good- Stevens, Judd, Murphy, Simpson, Carrazo, Scotland, Grigg, Gibbs, Hadley. im more worried about our future than carlton. They atleast have youth. We still have 6 players over 30 on our list, and about 11 players over 27. i think carlton have like 1 player over 27
  21. Bate= good youngster but i dont think he'll ever be in the top 50 players in the afl Mclean= see Bate Sylvia= see Bate Pettard= see Bate Newton= see Bate Bell= see Bate Buckley= see Bate P.Johnson= see Bate Bartram= see Bate Moloney= see Bate The only youngsters we have capable of becoming a really great (by great i mean is in the top50 players in the afl) are Jones and maybe Morton is a few years. Even Jones i have my doubts...though he is a great youngster and will be a solid palyer for us for a decade. This is why we are in such a [censored] position. because none of our players ever push on to become truely great players. Robbo, Bruce, Green and others had the potential to be and failed miserably.
  22. White- has been a great performer for over a decade and we should feel lucky for every game he plays. while he plays we atleast break even in the ruck. without him we would be in the same position as collingwood and the blue who lose matches bc of lack of ruckman. those who question the important of a ruckman- it cost the pies a flag last year!!!! Jamar= dump Meesan= seems dump PJ= a good backup ruckman however will never be a number1 ruck... conclusion= with White in his last 2 seasons, we better get Naitanui
  23. it doesn't really bother me if we get pick1 pick 2 or pick 3 (we will get one of these!). Pick1- we get the best athlete/ruckman available- Naitanui- also gain a cult-figure that will create excitement in the club pick2- Daniel Rich- best midfielder in the draft- better than Cotchin and equal of Cooney or any other number1 draft picks of the past pick3- Hurley- Best KPP of the draft we could use all 3. The main reason why we could really love Naitanui is that we are in dire need of a replacement ruckman for White. It'd be awesome to get a future ruckman star, because otherwise we'll have to use a few draft picks on potential ruckman who might not make it
  24. i would be really [censored] off if Holland was put into the team. sure he would probably make us more competitive, HOWEVER, this is probably his last year of afl footy. we need to find players of the future who can play the big forwards in seasons to come! people should have perspective and realize we aren't making finals this year. Therefore, the only good that can come from this season is developing for the future. players i'd like to see play atleast 12 games this season: - James Frawley - Stefan Martin - Colin Garland - Ricky Pettard Players i'd like to see play atleast 5 games this season: - Kyle Cheney - Tom McNamara This is our defence of the future, NOT Holland and Whelan who are retiring at years end. this year= Develop, develop, develop
  25. what we need is a superstar. enough of picking up really solid, but ultimately mediocre draftees----Dunn, Pettard, Garland, Sylvia, Mclean...pretty much our entire team------- i want us to pick up a player who actually has the potential, and then turns out to be in the top 50 players in the afl. is it really so much to ask
