POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Brisbane
No legs, ran out of gas like last week and went defensive - didnât want to take a risk in case we turned it over cos it would be a certain goal the other way as no one could get back to cover. There was at least 3 times they got it off us and it was 3 on 1 in their forward line cos no one could get back to help. Same as last week they were cooked but this time we didnât have a big enough lead. Still [censored] off they didnât pay May the mark on our half forward line, instead of him kicking it to the top of the square itâs down the other end.

GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane
Yeah Iâm not on board the loading train. Have only ever seen us look bad which gets blamed on loading and Iâm yet to see any of the supposed benefit where we come out the other side looking fresh. If weâre putting heavy loads in during the week when weâre sitting outside the 8 and canât afford to drop a single game the fitness staff should get the bullet. For me itâs a combo of new gameplan where players arenât in the right spots and have to do more work to compensate, Clarry & Petty not having preseasons, young players not having the fitness base, bad turnovers catching us out of position and doing more tail chasing. All of that makes us look slow and tired cos we are.

PODCAST: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne
Yeah I thought this was harsh as well, itâs impossible to replace 25-30yo players like for like with 19-22yo - the kids will be fine in most cases but they need time. I get the frustration but thereâs not much to be done about it. I thought it was going to come to blows in the first 3min of the pod but it settled after that đ

PREGAME: Rd 16 vs Brisbane
A bit weird that Brown jnr got dropped but lots on here seem to assume that because things are a surprise to us on a Thursday night that the players are as mystified as we are, I donât think that's the case. Lever back helps us, interesting to see us go tall and thatâs probably what cost Brown, couldnât fit AMW in without dropping a small and it was LIFO. Canât see us winning, lions by 30 unless we find a way to kick 85+ which has been pretty rare.

Are we witnessing a re-build by stealth
Less than 7months older on average than the Roos team we played last week and theyâre in full rebuild mode. I had us probably 6-8th preseason, losing to the eagles and getting flogged by the dockers derailed that a bit and now Trac going out for the year probably has us 7-12th now with more turnover of the best 23 than was planned preseason. I think itâll stand us in good stead for next year with some games under the belt of the kids and hopefully add a couple of guns through draft and free agency. Itâs a reset and refresh year not a burn it down and start again year.

Steven May staging fine
Some serial offenders in there. Is Will Schofield still annoyed at us over Clarry getting him reported there? Would explain his commentary the other week..

Please get off Clarry's back. Show some respect!
Exactly. Weâd all like Clarry back in B&F form but setting minimum standards on an internet forum isnât going to get him anymore kicks on the weekend

In the highlights you can see he gets to Petty after the mark telling him to (I assume) take his time, do his routine or whatever and then as you point out is in there celebrating after Petty kicks the goal - shows that even though heâs got his own issues heâs got genuine care for his teammates and is trying to help them out. Obviously has or had some off field issues, played with a broken finger for a month, is having a down year but he isnât Robinson Crusoe there. Heâll be back.

Mick Malthouse "Demons Culture"
Agree, culture doesnât prevent bad times, it helps you get through the bad times. The slump weâre in doesnât show the culture is bad, but how we come through it will show where weâre at.

Fair enough, but that vision doesnât show what Lloydâs claiming in my view. Heâs 70m out in the first one, not looking to have a shot - I think heâs thinking does he go to JVR or to Pickett and ends up taking too long. The handball to Chandler was probably there but heâs also our main goal kicker so is paid to kick them.

Mick Malthouse "Demons Culture"
Big call from Lloyd to call 3 players selfish when his only vision is Fritsch fluffing 2 kicks, I think itâs indecision more than anything cos theyâre trying to work out what theyâre supposed to do under the new plan. May has been like that every game of his career, when weâre winning itâs being uncompromising and hard-nosed, when weâre losing itâs an issue. Potato potahto. Uncomfortable viewing seeing Eddie defending us though.

Iâd say take my money now but youâre gonna need to wait til he retires to get all the good gear, hopefully 2030ish

Melbourne not at Legends event?
Couldnât agree more, 2024 has been a shambles so far and clearly we all want things to improve but the drama on here from some is way over the top. Club is profitable, memberships are good, crowds have been good (though might drop off a bit if we donât get back on track), AFL is looking after us on fixtures, stable board, management, coaching group. Weâve still got some all time greats of the club running around out there. Maybe it wonât get better this year but if it doesnât weâll be back next year. Itâs not a bin fire, the new game plan either isnât working or they havenât got it working yet and weâre missing some key pieces but because weâre suddenly out of the 8 for a few weeks itâs all âboo-hoo weâre irrelevant, pies supporters say mean things to me, my feelings are hurt so someone needs to be firedâ. A few on here need to grow up.

Maynard unscathed
Not against HARD decisions, Iâm just against unnecessary panic leading to poor decisions. Yardsticks of the competition, Swans (two coaches since 2002), Cats (two coaches since 2000). Underachieving panic merchants, Blues (8 coaches since 2001, many of them wouldâve sacked Voss mid-year last year if they couldâve too), Bombers (6 coaches since 2008, plus some interims). Who do we want to be? Perennial finalists or panicked yo-yos? P.s. Seems you find typing HARD⊠to do, maybe try⊠using⊠both hands.
