Goody is a genius!!!
So you are angry at Goody cos everyone else has been wrong? Cos the consensus half way through the 3rd quarter in the 2021 GF was that Bont had a premiership medal and a norm smith around his neck - everyone was wrong about that too. We won a flag in 2021, didnāt go back to back cos all our good players were hurt by finals in 2022, lost two finals by less than 2 goals combined in 2023 and weāre still in with a shot of playing finals this year. Maybe just enjoy the win instead of holding on to your anger about prior years. No one is owed a flag, a lot needs to go right no matter how good your list is and we havenāt had much luck since ā21.

Are we witnessing a re-build by stealth
Seriously overrates the Hawks, Crows, Saints & Bombers imo. Hawks top 5 listed: Day, Newcombe, Weddle, Watson, Ginnivan - Iād take Day and Newcombe keep the rest. Crows: Rankine, Rachele, Michalanney, Soligo, Keane - Iād take Rankine (though Koz is better). Saints: King, Owens, Wanganeen-Milera, Phillipou, Henry - Iād take King (JVR will be better) and Owens. Bombers: Martin, Caldwell, Durham, Caddy, Perkins - Iād take Caldwell and Durham. Our top 5 is as good as any on there and are still improving. Probably donāt have the depth of young talent as some of the genuinely better lists but weāve been in the top 4 for 3 years which limits your drafiting. Much better placed than that article suggests.

POSTGAME: Rd 18 vs Essendon
I mean I get it, heās not playing well. He knows it, goody knows it, and after 18 weeks of pregame, game day and postgame threads everyone on demonland knows it. Clearly no one at Casey is rated higher than he is so if heās fit heās getting picked. Posting day in day out about how bad heās going isnāt changing that and itās getting a bit boring.

PREGAME: Rd 18 vs Essendon
History will repeat at every club every year as players that canāt crack the 1s leave for other opportunities. It happens. You mention Laurie, Brown & Woey - well if Laurie can get a regular spot in anyone elseās 1s good on him, I donāt see it myself. Brown and Woey too early to know if theyāll make it, and too early for either of them to be cracking the sads about selection too imo. Who do you drop for those 3?

PREGAME: Rd 18 vs Essendon
You pick your best 22 to win games, not to keep players happy in case they get a better offer in the trade period. If we knew Gus was going to get concussed in the QF and then retire preseason then maybe we shouldāve given Jordon more game time through 2023 but thatād be some extreme Nostradamus foresight. He wasnāt good enough to win a spot over others so he played as sub. Toby was behind Kos, Chandler, ANB and probably would still be now.. you canāt fit everyone in, thatās just how it goes. Nothing shameful about it.

Kozzie Pickett - 100 games
Some absolute junk comments. ā100 games for just over 100 goalsā? Heās kicked 150 goals in 99 games so ājust overā is doing some real heavy lifting there. Of the top 20 in his draft Koz is: #1 for games played #1 for goals, ahead of Cody Weightman on 119. #2 for goals per game behind Weightman, 1.75 vs 1.52. Georgiades is the only other to average >1 per game. #4 for tackles behind Rowell, Serong and Tom Green. #5 on tackles per game as Hayden Young sneaks ahead of him. #1 for goal assists overall and per game. #2 for marks i50 overall and #3 for mi50 per game. Heās elite, and heās going to get better.

Are we fit enough?
It would be good if these numbers were available by quarter, I reckon we wouldāve been further ahead on distance covered at 3QT and way behind on pace and distance over the 4th. -20 on pressure and 39% time in fwd half in the 4th tells me we were cooked and thatās probably due to how much more work we did over the first 3QT. I think weāre having to work harder without the ball after moving away from the high press and weāve also got players getting caught out of position and having to run harder to compensate.

Steven May staging fine
IMO Pendleburyās on Neale was worth a week, Neale was looking at the ball up and wasnāt expecting contact when St Pendles whacked him in the guts - cheap shot, 1 week. Maynard goes to Long and punches him in the arm, Long open hands him in the chest - donāt think thatās a week with or without the acting. Theyāre both front on and Maynard shouldāve expected to get one back as he gave one first.

Steven May staging fine
Donāt tell me thatās Barrett? Heās actually been pretty measured on us this year after giving me the [censored] for years..

NON-MFC: Round 16
I donāt believe heās justifying it but that is absolutely how it gets applied. Cody Wightman and Ginnvan wouldāve earnt negative money over the past 3 years if exaggerating contact copped a fine.

Use of the sub
AFL wouldāve fined him for staging and taken the flag off us

POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Brisbane
No legs, ran out of gas like last week and went defensive - didnāt want to take a risk in case we turned it over cos it would be a certain goal the other way as no one could get back to cover. There was at least 3 times they got it off us and it was 3 on 1 in their forward line cos no one could get back to help. Same as last week they were cooked but this time we didnāt have a big enough lead. Still [censored] off they didnāt pay May the mark on our half forward line, instead of him kicking it to the top of the square itās down the other end.
