PREGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Round 1 v Giants was torrential at times. Rain won’t hurt our already atrocious goal kicking, but it won’t help either

Goalkicking
He started his career a bit rough, 59% 56% & 48%, then went on a tear for 2 years, 71% & 71% over 2021 & 2022. I thought the foot injury in 2023 hurt his kicking, but he was a bit off that year before the foot - 60% for the year, then 64% last year. This year has been his worst so far at 44%. Career average 62%. I get the impression the practice kicks are pretty much pressure free. All I see on socials is kicking over the cardboard cutout on the mark, or inside out banana trick shots from the pocket. I’d like to see some actual noise from a person or people on the mark to simulate game conditions. But frankly I just think we have a lot of bad kicks in the team.

PREGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
[censored] me, it’s taken me til today to stomach coming on here and thinking about footy, last week was just so so disappointing. Should’ve been a lock for a win and we didn’t turn up. Can’t see this week being much better, Pies are going well and based on last week we aren’t. Had some hope after the run of wins but that’s gone now. (Interesting timing for the club to send me an email titled “HOPE” on tuesday, but it was just about drink bottles not actual hope for the season). AJ out, I think it has to be JVR in. Jeffo kicked 5 yes but they were VFL goals, leads into space with no pressure etc, don’t get those chances at AFL level. He can’t go in the ruck either. Will suck it up and go along but what used to be an exciting day (and meaningful as Dad got taken down by MND) is becoming a bit painful with arrogant, annoying pies fans and our losses.

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
If it’s 93 to 88 Ross will kick the glass out of the coaches box - he’ll be aiming for 50-60points each

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
They’ll have multiple screens running but it’s still not the same as watching live

Maybe he’s closer than Bill then?

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
If Viney doesn’t come up best guess would be Laurie comes in (despite my view he’s too small for AFL). He and Culley were the emergencies last week with TMac which in my view makes them next in, Culley didn’t get near it against Preston from the stat sheet so that puts Laurie in the box seat. Wouldn’t be shocked if Billings gets the call up out of the blue but I think it’s Bill. No other changes imo. Should beat them, they’re going terribly. As others have pointed out Ross the Boss will make it the worst game of the round to watch but we should have enough quality to win it.

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
This is an underrated point, he wasn’t having a day out against the swans but he stayed up and about and stayed in the game and did some good things late where he could’ve been kicking grass in the goal square. I don’t think anyone on here is kidding themselves that he’s gonna morph into Wayne Carey 2.0 but he’s doing his job, staying on the move and bringing teammates into the game. Long term I think JVR has his job but for now it’s his..

Short Boundary Throw Ins
That one Hopper was complaining about was a goal assist, shocking throw

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
That’s good news, but as we saw with Viney it’s not always the end of the story. Looked a solid bump, would expect 2-3 for Mills

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
There’s no way they get someone better than him this year. We’ve already won that swap.

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
13.6 in the second half! Unbelievable stuff, would’ve been an absolute flogging if we kicked better in the first and they didn’t get some flukey ones. We dominated them all day and should’ve been further up at the half. Max really wanted to beat Grundy today, another huge effort from the big fella but Koz gets the 3 votes. Too quick, too good all day. AJ had the fumbles but managed to create a few goals by hitting bodies, reckon he stays in. Hopefully Lever’s ankle is ok, looked like he tweaked it late. Spargo out (concussion), Viney in (concussion).

PREGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
Bit surprised as most on here seem to be about TMac, thought they were resting him but he’s in the emergencies so suggests he’s dropped. With them only having 3 tallish forwards it’s probably a horses for courses situation.. If it’s an actual dropping I’m surprised they didn’t swing him forward for AJ but AJ probably gives better service in the ruck

Petition for Player Based Podcast - 'Chin Wag'
Definitely time for another pod, Gus & Gawny was great listening. Chin & Disco my nominations.

PREGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
Lever comes in, too good not to play, and I don’t think we’ll be resting anyone that doesn’t have a niggle as we try climbing the ladder. AJ stays in for mine, don’t want Disco or Petty getting hurt playing 2nd ruck. I’d say Sharp goes out for Lever and we shuffle a few around, maybe Windsor further up the ground. Wouldn’t mind seeing Culley in for Spargo, bigger body. I’d say his naming is a reward for doing the right things at Casey but he won’t come in for a few weeks.

POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs Brisbane
That’s not the jumper, that’s cos Melksham absolutely pantsed him

PREGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
AJ isn’t the greatest but he wants to compete which puts him ahead of some others. He was 4-5m behind that brisbane defender and made up the ground to kick an important goal, and his time in the ruck wasn’t bad. I think we keep him in.

Stats File - 2025 edition
I like that while they had us on transition (d50 to i50% 27.9% to their 41.2% - a 13% differential) they only converted those to scores 16.5% vs our 13.1% - a 3.4% differential. Big win for our back 6, whether that’s sustainable I don’t know. You’d obviously like to shut down the transition earlier in the chain..

POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs Brisbane
What a win! I gave us no chance before the game (and up until 3QT if I’m honest). Thought we’d scrap it out for 3 quarters and leak a few goals in the last.. 4.8 in the last is massive compared to the season so far, should really have won by 4 goals as we missed a few easy ones but I’ll take it. Importantly we took 16 marks i50, compared to our season average of 9. Only equalled that against the eagles. Took a mark on 28% of our i50s which is our best so far this year. Melksham helps a lot with this both marking and hitting targets. Also a little underrated in the win is the defensive effort, kept the Lions to 11 marks i50 which helped limit their scoring. Hopefully we can keep Milkshake on the park for most of the year, and throw the kitchen sink at Kozz to keep him pls.

Reasons for our Inaccuracy?
He is a shocker, half the time he doesn’t even look and just hits the spare defender on the chest 25m out from goal.

We're Not Dead Yet - The 2025 Season
No one has ever yet made it clear to me why or how changing the game plan and the coach is going to make the players kick better. Unless the plan is to turn over the whole list it just seems like people are going on vibes

We're Not Dead Yet - The 2025 Season
We kicked 9.17 against the blues in 2023 and lost by 2 points. We should’ve won by 5 goals but the players let themselves down. You don’t throw the toys out of the cot and start again after that, you do goalkicking practice.

Well you were wrong in 2022 and 2023 but you’re probably right now
