  1. Took a few days to get through 22 pages but here we are. Nice to be back after the offseason, even better to be under cover in the members nice and dry while it was bucketing outside. Did we lose it at selection? No. Lost by 3 points to a serious team while creating more and better chances. Should we have gone smaller? Goody has never been horses for courses, heā€™s best-22 each week and thatā€™s what we picked. Where we lost it was having a young team who arenā€™t all match fit and running out of legs towards the end of the 3rd & 4th. Didnā€™t have the legs but we nearly rolled them anyway, I think itā€™s good signs. Of the newbies: Lindsay very good, Sharp ok but small and doesnā€™t seem to have a long kick, Henderson same. Jefferson class but needs more aggression, Johnson good aggression but needs more class. Langford hard to say. Iā€™d say Sharp and Henderson are behind Kozz and Spargo when they come back but itā€™s only week 1. I didnā€™t see as much as I wanted from Oliver, tore the Roos a new one in the praccy but didnā€™t set the world on fire this week. Giants have a lot of big bodies in the mids so itā€™s a tough contest. Annoying to lose but couldā€™ve easily won it and if we were no good they wouldā€™ve toweled us. 7/10
  2. Probably doing the club a disservice here but Iā€™ve just noticed the SE Melb Phoenix NBL team have a Kayo membership for $250/$270: https://membership.semphoenix.com.au/Home/Template/71b8a0f8-5200-ef11-9f8a-00224893346f Iā€™d encourage anyone partaking to spend some of the savings on club merch or something
  3. 2 CEOs in 11 years - hardly instability
  4. Youā€™d think so but I doubt that will be the takeaway by many.. Time for change, seems like the reviews are doing what they said on the box. Never met Pert, seemed like a salesman at heart which has pros and cons. Seems to have outlasted his welcome at 2 clubs but it has to be acknowledged that he also saw a flag at both those clubs so I doubt heā€™s the chaos agent some on here paint him out to be.
  5. 4th in our goal kicking, 3rd for tackles, 1st for tackles i50
  6. I think that should read ā€œSam MacClure hasnā€™t given up hope of Clayton Oliver securing trade to Geelongā€ - typo from the AW social media team
  7. Understand, but we canā€™t go back in time and sell 2021 Clarry, if we want to sell weā€™re selling 2024 Clarry - thereā€™s no guarantee heā€™s worth more next year. If the penny hasnā€™t dropped by now will it ever? Best case is he stays and sorts his [censored] out but thatā€™s not the likely case..
  8. I think this is harsh. By the sounds of it heā€™s had issues all the way through but up until 2022 it seems like he was managing pretty well (as shown by 4 B&Fs, 2 coaches, flag etc). The breakup and the hammy seem to have derailed him to the point where itā€™s not the same trade off anymore, ability v drama may be tolerable if the ability is elite but if the output is getting lower and the drama is getting higher then there comes a point where itā€™s not worth it. Contract was too long in hindsight but I can only imagine the meltdowns on here if heā€™d asked for a trade because we only offered him 4 or 5 years instead.
  9. Clarry is leaving ā€The bootstudder has to go!ā€ Actually Clarry is staying ā€As I said the bootstudder has to go!ā€ Maybe some people just have something against the bootstudder?
  10. My turn to apologise then YB, no offence intended
  11. You missed the sarcasm there fella
  12. Donā€™t be silly, everyone on here knows exactly whatā€™s happening and why it confirms their existing views about whether itā€™s Pert or Goody or both that need to be sacked immediately
  13. Stafford and McQualter both out so far means 2 spots to fill at least.
  14. Absolutely no way anyone other than about 5 people know definitively whatā€™s going on. Lies, damn lies and Sam McClure tweets are all we have to go on. Someone might want to spread the word itā€™s all Pert so they donā€™t get offside with the player. Someone else might want to suggest the footy dept are all in it together so it looks like a group decision. Someone might want to suggest itā€™s driven by the playing group, someone else might want to suggest itā€™s Trac pushing it and someone else again might want to rebut that so they donā€™t look like the bad guy. No one is telling the complete truth while something like this goes on, and probably not even after itā€™s done.
  15. But itā€™s not that easy is it, youā€™re saying the club has been too lenient but thereā€™s plenty on here saying the club needs to be more lenient and keep him - club canā€™t win here except make the best of a bad situation they didnā€™t create. As good as heā€™s been he needs to sort his own life out and the club can only do so much. If he canā€™t get a handle on it living at Maxā€™s place what more can they do?
  16. So why would we expect 2025 to improve his value if he hasnā€™t changed his ways or lived up to what he said heā€™d do? More likely that next year just tanks his value more - club seems to be thinking itā€™s time to cut losses and move on
  17. We did. He got warned last year at trade time and agreed to certain things to make it work, we kept him on that basis and it sounds like he hasnā€™t held up his end.
  18. I was worried heā€™d actually confirmed he wants a trade to Geelong but itā€™s just McClure doing McClure things again. Pretty sure weā€™ve already traded Trac for McKay in McClureā€™s head havenā€™t we?
  19. Not a bad point, itā€™s not unreasonable to think that Clarryā€™s issues and whether other clubs are willing to take them on could be CEO to CEO level discussions.
  20. Clarry shouldā€™ve asked Rhys why he only took 1 mark and had 3 kicks in the second half of the Prelim after Big Oā€™s arm fell off and if the Cats are gonna try playing a ruckman next year.. Long way to go before any trades happen, bit early for the panic merchants to have everyone sacked already, there wonā€™t be anyone left to sign the paperwork in trade week
  21. Most accurate comment youā€™ve posted Kent
  22. ā€œThe reviews of both the AFL program and the Board will be completed in October and the priorities identified will be communicated to our members.ā€ Itā€™s still September, untwist your knickers.
  23. Winners over the past decade: Priddis, Fyfe (2), Danger, Dusty, Tom Mitchell, Neale (2), Wines, Cripps. The only one Iā€™d even consider picking for my starting midfield ahead of Bont, Trac & Oliver is Cripps. Dusty can play forward.
  24. They also only won 15 games, which wouldnā€™t have got them top 4 in 2022 or 2023, Brisbane made top 4 in 2021 with 15 wins but much better %. Over his time heā€™s had the best home ground advantage which means more wins, better ladder position, more top 8 finishes, more top 4 finishes, more prelims but not more finals wins or more flags than Goody because they donā€™t get to play on the Kardina Park soccer pitch, they get found out a lot.. or maybe they just get gastro, or covid, or dengue fever or something and heā€™d have a better finals % otherwise
  25. You explained how you think itā€™s a flawed metric yes, because it doesnā€™t suit your argument. never said making finals isnā€™t better, just that Scott has it easier with the best home ground advantage in the comp. As I said weā€™ll find out how good he is now the last of the guns are gone, or maybe we wonā€™t and heā€™ll decide itā€™s time to find new challenges a la Hardwick
