Put it simply, everything worked out for Simon in 2021. Once things around him were not perfect (be it injuries, players down in form, losing assistants) he just couldn't deliver.

Ditto here, I was hoping in 2022 we would get McKay. At the time it felt like the last piece of the dynasty puzzle was a true KPF. Just like Richmond did with Lynch in 2018. I will never know if the club even approached McKay, I want to believe they did.

Yes, this thread and others that are perceived as "negative" are a symptom of the many flaws and failures underlying within the club at the moment. Not just the coach but even up in the leadership group of the club. How much I'd love that we had instead the "Goodwin chasing Norm Smith" thread, but the reality is in deed hitting us hard in the face. I'd wager that at the very least most of these cynical and negative supporters here (you can include me) still bleed red and blue. They want the club's success and nothing else, and keep paying their hard earned YOY which, to me, is the biggest commitment of all.

We need better analytics, just like how the NBA moved from points scored to FG% then to eFG% and now TS%. Not sure if there are already some expanded stars that can provide a more meaningful understanding of our performance.

And JVR career efficiency (goal kicking)has been sitting at around 70%. No doubt one of our best forwards. And it is not a small sample size, it is close to 100 kicks taken.

Insanity to keep trying the same experiment (Petty/Disco). Just keep the guys in the backline. May is on his last legs. Lever is flaky. Disco and Petty could be the duo that takes us to the next flag.

That's why I said no apparent reason to the outside lookers. TMac was playing very consistent and mature footy. Even try him fwd to help JVR and/or Jeffo. Big body can take the main defender.

Poor TMac probably playing his last games of professional footy and actually being decent, then inexplicably he fades in the background after Goodwin drops him for no apparent reason.

Can you see Max playing past 2027? Even 2027 looks like a stretch.

Unfortunately it has been more about off field issues, derailing his otherwise stellar career. He should have been a Brownlow medallist, Norm Smith and 2 time champion. At least that's what I thought he would be back in October 2021.
