Welcome to Demonland: Latrelle Sumner-Pickett
Thanks for the intel @BLWNBA I wonder where that leaves us on Dovaston then? Because I just couldn’t understand us taking LSP over Dovaston in the scenario you put forward My opinion is that I’m happy to trade for an extra first round pick to take LSP but only if we retain 7 and 8 (and leave our future first untouched)

Welcome to Demonland: Xavier Taylor
I think we’ve all just accepted that he won’t make it past the Tigers or Dons - would love for him to slide for all the reasons you point out though

Aidan Schubert
- Sam Grlj
100% Grij is definitely at the top of my list for mids that might be there at 7 and I’d hope we take Dovaston with one of our picks I also think that Butters coming out of contract next year could help us in the Humphrey sweepstakes, as most Vic clubs would be more likely to chase Butters, potentially giving us a clear run at Humphrey with our two firsts A lot of water to go under the bride there though!- Sam Grlj
I think if the Tigers don’t take him he’s a good chance to fall to our pick Purely speculation (based on phantom drafts and my own vibe) but I think the Dons would be more likely to take Sharp and Cumming over him (and they would definitely take Robey or Taylor if they’re available)- Oskar Taylor
@adonski I’m pleased to announce that I’m jumping on board the Dovaston and O Taylor train at 7 and 8 (presuming a Robey or X Taylor don’t slide on the night) The potential midfield options at those picks aren’t doing it for me, so I think it’s better to reach for players who have attributes we need to compliment our young core If we could also find a way to snag Pickett too we’d have added a huge amount of speed and class in one off season- Welcome to Demonland: Latrelle Sumner-Pickett
Is there a world where - if we manage to trade for an additional first round pick to take Pickett - we select him AND Dovaston? A position of weakness for us would immediately be significantly stronger if we could bring both in- Lachy Dovaston
Not many of the midfield options likely available at 7 and 8 inspire me Time to get on the 🕊️ train- Sullivan Robey
After watching a heap of footage of the players expected to be in our 7-8 range, it’s clear none have the upside of Robey We all know that JT loves to target particular players, even if it means paying overs to move up, and we already know that we were the first club to speak to him So with that in mind, do we have any realistic pathways to trade up to get him? We would need to trade for pick 2 or 3 at the latest to guarantee we could take him- AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
Equally though they’re reminiscent of last years early phantom drafts that all had us taking Armstrong with one of our picks As it closer closer to draft night most were predicting Langford or Tauru and then a Lindsay or Allan- AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
They’re almost all exclusively Schubert + Sharp/Cumming/Farrow/Lindsay/Dovaston- AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
Oh great another Phantom Draft with us taking Schubert- AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
This this this this this And to think half these the guys get paid for these takes- AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
These spuds have no idea- Sam Grlj
I think the link has been accepted because it’s come from Cal Twomey, who has stated that Richmond could have interest because of his VFL appearances (and that he could be a complimentary type for their midfield) But there hasn’t been anything definitive yet- Josh Lindsay
I wonder what his contested to uncontested possession ratio is compared to a Whitfield or Zorko? Neither of them are particularly contested players but are still key to how their teams move the ball Lindsay could still be an elite half back if he can at least win enough of his own ball, but if he’s relying on others for the majority of his possessions then that lack of contest could be a worry- AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
Yeah that’s probably true, but I would say that Sharp seems to do most things well - i.e. he’s more well rounded than a lot of inside mids- AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
I think that he’s simply too good of a prospect to pass up if he slides to us - especially if the more athletic types of Grij, Robey and Cumming are off the board I know we all want to draft fast and highly skilled mids, but you still need those extractors and I’m not convinced we actually have a young player of that type on our list (or one who can do it to the level of Sharp)- AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
FINALLY a mock draft that recognises we need a small forward Sharp and Dovaston is the best outcome for us I’ve seen so far in one of these- AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
100% No shade to this guy but the “Dees need to draft a key forward” is the laziest analysis going around We’re in much more need of more midfield depth and a small forward- Sam Cumming
Upon reflection this is probably where I’m at with him - i.e. he offers a different dimension to our other young midfielders (and our older heads in Viney and Steele) so he would be a solid pick- AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
Agreed And if Schubert was a Walter or Cadman type - or if JT saw him as such - of course you’d take him even if you have a lot of developing tall fwds But as you say I suspect JT wouldn’t see Schubert that way, and I don’t think many other recruiters do either given he’s not being rated at the upper echelon of the form guides thus far- AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
Posted in the Picks 7 and 8 thread but also relevant here:- AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
I usually like listening to these guys but like many pundits they have us taking Schubert with one of our picks Not sure how anyone who has seriously analysed our list thinks we need to take yet another developing tall fwd when we’ve got all of JVR, Jefferson, Kentfield and Johnson, as well as Mihocek and the potential ruck fwds in Heath and White If we’re taking a fwd I have no doubt it would be Dovaston who would be in our sites, as a small fwd who can impact the score board is a far bigger need for us- Sam Cumming
I was just about the say the same thing Maybe it just doesn’t come through on tape but he doesn’t look particularly explosive in those Rookie Me highlights On paper he sounds like he’d be a great pick up but he doesn’t seem to have the X factor of some of those guys rated above him Still, if Robey, Grij and Sharp are off the board he might be the best available midfielder at 7 or 8 - Sam Grlj
