This is so true Picks 7 and 8 are really a strong draft hand from a points perspective And I have no idea how the Suns would make up those points for their bids if they traded both to us I honestly think trading Humphrey to us is their best bet - they get a big name player to elevate their list while not sacrificing their ability to bring in their highly rated academy players They could even try and trade 7 or 8 to another club who is willing to overpay for one of the selections Maybe I’ve got my red and blue goggles on but this honestly seems like a win win if Suns can put their ego aside and be willing to part with Humphrey

Thanks for that info - I didn’t realise the extent to which we worked through that with ANB As fans most of us can only base our opinions on the trade itself and any other reports in the media, as well as how they end up working out on field I haven’t been impressed over the last few years, but also recognise a lot of that is to do with factors outside Lamb’s control, such as how the club is perceived I just hope that this time more than ever we’re playing hard ball and trying to drive the best deal possible, and, again, are willing to walk away if the right deal isn’t there

I mean time will tell if it helps us, right? Because I’m not sure when else it’s helped us in the past (of course happy to be pointed to examples) If Lamb can score Humphrey, or two very high picks, then that will be a win But anything less won’t be accepted by Dees fans

People might disagree with me here but honestly ANB Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for being compassionate when it comes to our players, but ANB left a massive playing and leadership void in our team, and we seemed more than happy to ship him off for a token second round pick ANB walked straight into Adelaide’s best 23 and leadership group - he was clearly highly rated by them but we gave them an easy out I don’t think we should be like Dodoro was for Essendon and be a nightmare club to deal, but I think we’ve been too willing to take unders or too happy to overpay just to get deals done under Lamb’s tenure I think he needs to get this Trac deal exactly right or he should rightly be under the pump going into next year

Is that intel or just reading the tea leaves? FWIW I agree that’s been our public stance, but honestly Lamb’s record over the last few years has me worried

Do you have a sense on how hard ball Lamb is willing to play? From the outside looking in I think we need to be genuine in our resolve that Trac will come back to the Dees unless we get a great deal To me the only great deals are GC’s picks 7 and 8, or Humphrey I feel like the Humphrey trade is in the palm of our hands but we need to be going all out to get him to request a trade, as well as be serious about Trac not being traded unless our demands are met

It’s really incumbent on Bailey and his management to push for a trade now As much as I don’t like it GC won’t budge unless a formal request comes through I still believe if push came to shove GC would trade him as part of the Trac deal, but unfortunately without Humphrey driving it GC holds all the leverage

GC don’t want picks from this year - they don’t need them as they already have enough to bid on their academy players We also have just as many future picks as the Hawks, and everyone in the league would bet our future picks would be worth more Not sure where this myth that the Hawks have great draft capital is coming from - the only thing of worth they have is pick 8 (or whatever that is now), which again, the Suns won’t be interested in Only us - or Carlton if Curnow becomes a possibility again - have an asset they want

While I’m still desperately hoping Humphrey requests a trade, I’m glad the discourse has moved from us receiving only one of picks 7 and 8, to both potentially being on the table I think most of us could stomach that if it came to it

Morris reported that there is a “personal situation” with Humphrey that is in part driving clubs’ interest in him I’m just speculating here but I would think that if those personal reasons are the primary reason Humphrey wants to move home, that he’d be more open to moving to whichever Vic club can make a deal happen, rather than nominating a specific club

Also, if he has requested a trade, it could be like the Cerra situation a few years ago Wanted to come to us but we had no assets and couldn’t get the deal done while Carlton could, and for Cerra it was more important to get back to Vic then play hardball over going to his preferred club
