  1. Very true - the knock on Brisbane was that despite their elite skills and transition game they didnā€™t apply enough pressure around the ball and their defensive structure wouldnā€™t hold up when teams got on top of them in the contest In the last couple of years theyā€™ve managed to address both of these issues while retaining their elite skills and ability to transition the ball, and thatā€™s why theyā€™re now the reigning premiers The fact is that while we might be able to be the best contest and defence team, weā€™re going to continue to find it difficult to score and transition the ball while we have (relatively) unskilled players as our major ball winners I donā€™t envy Goody and the coaching staff this off season thatā€™s for sure
  2. If thereā€™s even a 1% chance heā€™d want to go home early go hard at him while we have pick 5 and a valuable future first I know Port would almost certainly say no outright but if heā€™s destined to leave anyway that would be a good starting point for them
  3. Now thereā€™s a Port player Iā€™m trading two first rounders for

I donā€™t see how Geelong has anywhere near enough currency to get the deal done unless theyā€™re sending Sam De Koning back the other way Of course youā€™d listen to any offers of a top 10 pick and another first rounder, but I donā€™t see anyone who would make that deal in a strong draft and why we would entertain anything less Would much rather give Clarry another off season to try and get back to his best
  5. Thanks Kev - great to hear that there is a mix of younger and older players already on the track at what I presume is an unofficial session? Would love Sestan to take his fitness to another level this off season as he clearly has the skills to make it

Heā€™d be best on in our media department at least

    Weā€™re so back
  8. Surely weā€™d be looking at a Harry Boyd type dominating at VFL who would want the chance to be on an AFL list? I know being back up to Max Gawn is a tough sell, but at least youā€™d be bringing in someone with upside who might still be around in a few years once Max retires
  9. Glad to hear weā€™re targeting another first round pick And even better that it looks like weā€™re doing it in a way where we retain our future first rounder Iā€™m not against trading our future first, but it could be a valuable pick to target an out of contract player like Callaghan next year

Damn you Cal for ranking Langford so highly Tough to see him falling our pick but you never know given the evenness of this draft I wonder where JT ranks Reid? Iā€™ve been big on Lalor as the next cab of the rank but Reid offers something we have just about never had in the midfield and it looks like he has worked hard to address the (few) deficiencies he has in his game
  11. Could wax and wane fwd/mid with Trac
  12. Would definitely fit the bill if weā€™re looking for experienced midfield depth I actually really rate Kennedy so wouldnā€™t mind it at all if he came for a later pick or two
  13. ā€œHey Finn, I hear you like straight set exitsā€¦ well, we have plenty of those where weā€™re fromā€ Get it done Dees šŸ˜ˆ
  14. Would definitely ask the question of Riccardi and was disappointed when he re-signed with them Plus it doesnā€™t hurt that heā€™s ex Werribee On that note I seriously hope Goody is getting down to their Prelim today, theyā€™ve been such an impressive side this year and have some great footballers (Mannagh and Clohsey to name a couple)
  15. (not serious)
  16. Hearing another well known Norm Smith medallist is soon to announce his retirement before catching up with Michael Voss for a coffee on Lygon Street šŸ‘€
  17. Definitely ask the question - but doesnā€™t seem to have come on as much as expected and doubt the Suns would even entertain anything while heā€™s contracted and still has upside
  18. Not blaming Cal but what a ridiculous explanation - how can he be part of the NGA then? What incentive is there if he canā€™t be drafted under it anyway?
  19. I seriously hope we kick up a stink about this The AFL made a whole song and dance about making NGAs worthwhile for clubs and yet in the first instance we canā€™t draft a player weā€™ve invested in? What is the point of having NGAs at all if thereā€™s no guarantee these kids can be drafted by their respective clubs?
  20. Furious - on what basis isnā€™t he eligible?

And despite some (valid) criticism of our high performance team, weā€™ve been really good when it comes to avoiding and managing soft tissue injuries Iā€™d back them in to get him fit if he came over

Pick 5? No way But would definitely be interested in asking the question as heā€™s a high quality mid when he can get on the park
  23. Is that a him issue or a Carlton issue though? Heā€™s certainly not the only player whose been plagued by soft tissues at that club He was great for them last year when he was on the park - worth asking the question and doing some due diligence
  24. ā€œWhile [the review] will identify areas in which we need to get better, we believe it will also highlight many positive elements of our AFL program, and why we should head into next season with well-founded optimism about what we can achieve.ā€
