Choco Williams axed
Thanks for your part in 2021 Choco By the way, an interesting tidbit at the end of this clip from Kane here regarding Buckley sounding out a former MFC coach/employee - does anyone know who Cleary was referring to?

CASEY: Rd 21 vs Box Hill Hawks
Really great to hear that Kolt is putting together good performances at VFL level While he definitely needed to go back to Casey to work on his game, I don’t think we were doing him any favours playing him in no man’s land at half forward To me he needs to be playing predominantly as a midfielder who can drift forward and hit the scoreboard I think he’s got the skills to do this - he just needs fitness, experience and confidence Hoping we see him take a big step this preseason and potentially feature in our midfield rotation from next year onwards (even if they’re just cameos)

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
1000% Reckon we’re going to be pretty far back in the queue though for any players looking to return to Vic (unless Buckley has us bouncing up the ladder next year 🤣)

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
The Rowell comparison is a good one There was a great article from earlier in the year where he essentially said he got fitter than ever in the preseason to give himself more of an outside game He was already a contest and clearance beast but can now hurt you on the outside with his run and ability to get from contest to contest I’d be telling Clarry that he needs to have the preseason of his life if he wants to stay in the red and blue next year, because we can’t keep carrying him if he’s going to plod around like he has for the past two years

POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
I don’t doubt your mail @Deez21 but why did we extend him to 2026 earlier this year then?

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
We would do very well to have someone like Daly as senior coach Putting aside his tactical acumen, the work he and Fagan have done to turn Brisbane into a well oiled machine can’t be understated, and it’s a key part of their onfield success Sam Edmund mentioned that Cam Bruce was also on our radar for an assistant coaching role We might need to change our name to the Melbourne Lions 🤣

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?

Cam Bruce to Melbourne?
- Simon Goodwin Sacked
Goodwin has been very classy in his recent interviews and he deserves kudos for that And I’m not convinced the board has resolved all of the issues which have been well documented over the last few years But people here are quick to forget the position we found ourselves in as recently as two weeks ago A team with a bottom four form line over the last two years, coming off a history making fourth qtr collapse, with a coach seeming to have no answers on how to address our fall and no want to make positional and list changes And that’s before we get into the two straight sets finals exits and well documented cultural issues that were allowed to fester As much as I respect Goody and appreciate what he achieved for us, we were on a hiding to nothing in 2026 both from an onfield and membership perspective, and something had to give- Cam Bruce to Melbourne?
Has anyone told Buckley?- Trade Targets
Windhager would be a great get - he’s been really solid for the Saints this year and at 22 still has the scope to improve My only concern is where does he fit if Viney, Trac and Clarry are all on the list in 2026? Windhager is good but he’s not exactly the silky midfielder we’re crying out for, so do we risk adding another inside type when we’re already overstocked in that area?- Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Appreciate the info Disappointing that just as it seems we started getting organised off field a new board room stoush appears Hopefully it’s much ado about nothing but the MFCSS in me is always worried about the new and innovative ways we manage to mess things up- Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Does anything you’ve heard make you concerned about attracting Buckley/any other potential coach? In the other clip from that segment she spoke about Smith potentially assuming the President role in December, with the implication being this instability may scare off a potential coach in waiting Not worried about them talking to Buckley early though - I’d be disappointed if they didn’t!- Trade Targets
Echoes what Jon Ralph reported in one of his recent articles about us Poor man management if that’s the case - if he didn’t think he was good enough, why make the promise? Only speculation but I wonder if there was a similar situation with Rivers? Although I will admit he had his best game of the year at half back this weekend- Brad Green and the current board
While I do think Caro is being unnecessarily vindictive in her reporting, I do hope that the plan to transition from Green to Smith is still proceeding without issue The last thing the club needs is to give the impression of board instability to a prospective coach like Buckley, who will be acutely aware of the effect that poor governance can have on a senior coach Keep it together Dees and go get our man- Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Nah Bucks should go to the club that doesn’t even exist yet 🤣- Brad Green and the current board
I don’t have any inside information, but I believe it was reported as such- Brad Green and the current board
The board made a unanimous decision to sack Goodwin And guess what, Smith is a board member Even if it was driven by Green he alone couldn’t have made the change- Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
I mean I guess that’s true but if he didn’t rate us he’d have Tassie and potentially Carlton as options in the next 12 months Would be very easy to say he’s not interested and hold fire until then- Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Reckon Bucks wouldn’t be interested if we had a bad list Especially when yesterday was one of the first games where our promising young talent really led the way with less impact from our senior players (sans Gawn and McDonald) Think we just need to continue to rebalance our list towards our younger core and see if we can top up with some players in that 24-26 range, while also bringing in a new coach to further transition the gameplan, improve selection integrity and potentially make some tough calls on a few senior players - Simon Goodwin Sacked
