  1. These spuds have no idea

I think the link has been accepted because it’s come from Cal Twomey, who has stated that Richmond could have interest because of his VFL appearances (and that he could be a complimentary type for their midfield) But there hasn’t been anything definitive yet
  3. I wonder what his contested to uncontested possession ratio is compared to a Whitfield or Zorko? Neither of them are particularly contested players but are still key to how their teams move the ball Lindsay could still be an elite half back if he can at least win enough of his own ball, but if he’s relying on others for the majority of his possessions then that lack of contest could be a worry
  4. Yeah that’s probably true, but I would say that Sharp seems to do most things well - i.e. he’s more well rounded than a lot of inside mids
  5. I think that he’s simply too good of a prospect to pass up if he slides to us - especially if the more athletic types of Grij, Robey and Cumming are off the board I know we all want to draft fast and highly skilled mids, but you still need those extractors and I’m not convinced we actually have a young player of that type on our list (or one who can do it to the level of Sharp)
  6. FINALLY a mock draft that recognises we need a small forward Sharp and Dovaston is the best outcome for us I’ve seen so far in one of these
  7. 100% No shade to this guy but the “Dees need to draft a key forward” is the laziest analysis going around We’re in much more need of more midfield depth and a small forward
  8. Upon reflection this is probably where I’m at with him - i.e. he offers a different dimension to our other young midfielders (and our older heads in Viney and Steele) so he would be a solid pick
  9. Agreed And if Schubert was a Walter or Cadman type - or if JT saw him as such - of course you’d take him even if you have a lot of developing tall fwds But as you say I suspect JT wouldn’t see Schubert that way, and I don’t think many other recruiters do either given he’s not being rated at the upper echelon of the form guides thus far
  10. Posted in the Picks 7 and 8 thread but also relevant here:
  11. I usually like listening to these guys but like many pundits they have us taking Schubert with one of our picks Not sure how anyone who has seriously analysed our list thinks we need to take yet another developing tall fwd when we’ve got all of JVR, Jefferson, Kentfield and Johnson, as well as Mihocek and the potential ruck fwds in Heath and White If we’re taking a fwd I have no doubt it would be Dovaston who would be in our sites, as a small fwd who can impact the score board is a far bigger need for us
  12. I was just about the say the same thing Maybe it just doesn’t come through on tape but he doesn’t look particularly explosive in those Rookie Me highlights On paper he sounds like he’d be a great pick up but he doesn’t seem to have the X factor of some of those guys rated above him Still, if Robey, Grij and Sharp are off the board he might be the best available midfielder at 7 or 8
  13. Yeah that’s the question with him (and to a lesser extent Sharp, but Sharp seems to be more well rounded and has leadership qualities) But you still need at least one of them - the problem is we’ve had three of them dominating our midfield for the last five years The question I’m curious about is do we think Langford alone can be our inside beast in years to come, or do we need to add another in that mould to support him once Viney and Steele slow down/retire? Or can someone like a Kolt grow into that role (he played well for Casey as an inside mid late this season) As always in JT we trust
  14. Not much movement in Cal’s latest Phantom Form Guide Reckon this could be a year where the form guide looks very different to the draft guide - i.e. where each player is expected to be drafted For example, he’s already flagged that the Tigers could have strong interest in Grij at 3 or 4, and yet he’s ranked at 13 in the form guide So hard to get a read on who will be available at our picks
  15. demoncat replied to adonski's topic in Melbourne Demons
I’d be taking those two over Duursma and CDT (West Coast)
  16. I don’t think he makes it past Tigers Reading the tea leaves it seems to be shaping as Duursma and CDT for WC, Robey and Grij for Rich, and Sharp and Taylor for Dons Lots of play out though
  17. Seems like our picks are going to fall just short of the top players in this draft which is a shame There’s a few names I like in your list - Lindsay, Dovaston and Taylor in particular - but they all come with question marks
  18. Some good highlights in there - he definitely has a bit of Nick Watson/Tom Papley in him I like that he can get possessions up the ground and some of his hand balling in close was impressive for someone not playing midfield I don’t know if he’d be a reach at 7 or 8 but he would definitely fill a need for us and it never hurts to bring in a player with a bit of attitude 😈
  19. Is Robey and a later pick really much better than two of Lindsay/Grij/Dovaston etc? I like the look of him but we still have holes all round the ground and would prefer to bring in another two highly rated players than put all our eggs in one basket Of course I’ll back JT in if he thinks it’s worth it
  20. Was watching some footage of your boy Taylor this morning - looks a jet Do you prefer him over Lindsay?
  21. Interesting that Twomey had Grij in the teens in his September Phantom Draft though - do you think his combine results are going to push him further up the draft boards?
  22. Incredible recruiting from JT to nail both Dogga and Kozzy, and very handy that Rivers slid to the 30s too!
  23. This is what I’d be hoping for Teague was a poor head coach (or maybe Carlton was just a mess when he got the job), but he’s always been very strong on offense and ball movement Would love to get another experienced tactical head in
  24. Any more word on Teague? Reading the Guerra article this morning it seems like Hawkins might be the last appointment (other than that possible Head of Strategy role that was flagged last month)
  25. Lindsay at 7 and Grij at 8
