Buckley definitely sounds interested and I have no doubt that the fact he never won a Premiership as a player or coach would still burn him inside Whether he’s got the chops to coach 2026 football is another question and why I would preference Horse over him (given he’s only a year removed from a GF), but I wouldn’t doubt his desire to succeed should he want/get the job

I’ve been vocal recently that it was time for him to go and there are still myriad of issues about his tenure that warrant discussion But that shouldn’t take away from what he was able to achieve - a drought breaking Premiership and one of the most dominant finals series in the history of the sport All the best Simon - I genuinely hope he can find another role in the industry and maybe even see the last day in September again (just not against us!) 🔴🔵🏆

100% The reports that they were “embarrassed” and “blindsided” by the decision only reinforces to me why the change needed to be made I appreciate many of them will be disappointed by the news given how close they are to Goody, but if they couldn’t see this coming despite our W/L of the last two years - not to mention all of the off field noise - then it’s clear that a new voice was needed

Oh 100% I don’t think Carlton’s first pick alone is a good deal for us though, especially in such a compromised draft It would definitely start a conversation though

Carlton’s first round pick + Lewis is the kind of deal that would go a long way to rebalancing our side Hawks would never do it though and from all reports Trac is very invested atm, plus I still think he can play a good role for us up forward

I agree - our doctors and physios have done a great job keeping us healthy this year and they deserve respect and credit for that And if people are doubting them then that’s a different story, but I don’t think this should be conflated with people genuinely having concerns about our selections regardless of if any particular player has been medically cleared to play

It’s not about whether they technically “can” play on a medical level - no one is doubting that It’s about the club - including the coach - refusing to use an opportunity like this to rest the effected player, to give other players an opportunity to play at AFL level and to try different set ups that might, I don’t know, actually result in us becoming better team Because apparently we’re trying to become a better team… by doing mostly the same thing each week… with mostly the same players… even if they’re sick and injured 🙃

Come on Ghosty There are so many other clubs in the league who are managing their veteran / injured players even while they’re in the hunt for finals Geelong won the flag in 2022 being conservative with their veterans Collingwood is odds on to do the same having rested Pendlebury, Sidebottom etc in recent weeks You don’t have to agree with people’s want for a change in coach, but how anyone can defend an injured player being selected for a dead rubber match - while there are many players at Casey and even in the AFL who could cover his role - is beyond me Not to mention Petracca playing with the flu against Carlton Both are/were stubborn and unnecessary risks, and it’s emblematic of the poor selection integrity and player management that has been a feature of this club for years now

He probably stays but it seems the Pies are walking a tightrope with their over 30s, with Cameron also considering a move back home to West Coast It would be a win win if we can shake him loose - we get a veteran forward who straightens us up and can teach our youngsters, while Pies lose a veteran and hopefully move one step closer to falling back down the bottom of the ladder A man can dream can’t he? 🤣
