  1. What do you think he's going to cost?
  2. I'm a Weideman fan but I don't think he's ready for AFL, especially not against Hawthorn. Maybe he could get a taste so he knows what he's up for, that's the only purpose that would be served.
  3. That's just not going to get it done and is equally as obstructive to good trading as Dodoro's reputation. 2017 2nd round will hopefully be around 30ish, that's unrealistic. 2017 1st round (say 12ish) for Hibberd and Essendons 2016 2nd round (which is currently 19) would be a very good deal for us, no need for them to add their 2017 2nd.
  4. The Weed needs to build body mass and also work on his endurance, not necessarily compatible goals so there's a challenge ahead in the next few years. He doesn't have exceptional pace, endurance or ground ball skills. If he's going to make it it will be because he can create a genuine marking contest - take contested marks and draw defenders to commit to him in the air. I've seen him a few times and he has an appetite for the aerial contest and he has taken some very nice contested marks deep in the forward line and up the ground. Yes, he's skinny, can't hold his position against mature bodies yet and can't rag-doll Rance. But I've seen enough to feel that he has the marking attributes to make it in this area. Your analysis boils down to "he's skinny". BTW, I don't think he's ready for AFL yet.
  5. I think Pav played well on ball - I haven't seen that in the Weed. I think Liam Hulett is Pav The Weed is the GC Tom Lynch
  6. I agree with that, but against St.Kilda he also got run down twice. I think he might have swung the pendulum a bit too far the other way and is rushing. He'll find the right medium.
  7. I think he'll be too expensive, both trade-wise and $s. He's a great player but I'd pass.
  8. It was a massively frustrating game. But coming up to 10,000 metres we killed them on the outside which is a completely different story from the Essendon debacle. Our decision making and skill execution forward of the centre was absolutely shocking, if this had been on then we would have won easily. I think the other problem we had yesterday was our total inability to convert Max's dominance on the inside. I think we have a structural problem there, the opposition acknowledges we're going to get first hands on it and tackles immediately, it's what happens after this first possession that's crucial. Either another stoppage, rinse and repeat, or the ball comes out and we don't have an advantage. I've seen us running a 7th player off the back of the square at the centre bounces, presumably to provide an outlet, but I've only ever seen that player actually get involved in the play once. Some other plan is required maybe a different mix at the bounce instead of 3 insiders.
  9. Bernie is down but against Hawthorn last time it was his, Tyson's and Jones' hardness at the contest that set up our competitive performance and I expect him to lift this week. I think the Hawks were genuinely surprised how hard we went. I'd like to find a spot for BenKen, he smashes in and I think that's going to be important. Isaac Smith beat us on the outside last time, it would be good to match up defensively against him.
  10. The Weed is a good contested mark, that's never been a part of Jack Watts game. I don't see them as similar players. He's a better kick than Nick Riewoldt but there's no evidence that he's got Riewoldt's incredible endurance, if he turned out to be half the player Riewoldt is I'd be rapt.
  11. Over the next 5 seasons he'll be 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 - he's got at least 5 years left, most of them still in his prime.
  12. Tom McDonald had ONE mis-kick that went to 50:50. Supporters are watching and willing him to turn it over. He started some great chains yesterday, the pity was our decision making and execution further up the ground were off. Oscar McDonald took some nice contested marks early. He's got some way to go but he's developing. Tom Lynch is a tremendous player.
  13. Richmond would want 2 first rounders for him and that's realistic.
  14. Rhythm guitarist like a tagger. Keef the Ryan Crowley of guitar
  15. There's Hendrix. Then it comes down to personal taste e.g. Page, Clapton, Prince. Then some other long group like Jeff Beck, Slash, Van Halen, too many to mention. The only Stones player anywhere near this 3rd group is Mick Taylor. Keith Richard is a genius composer and the Stones catalogue is unsurpassed, but he's an odinary guitarist. He's never even been the best player in the Stones.
  16. And it shows. Great composer, ordinary player.

  18. 9/10 taxi drivers agree
  19. There's a list like this produced each year, it's the Best & Fairest, which is great. But it's not really meaningful in terms of importance to future success. You have Tom Bugg higher than Petracca, Stretch, Salem, Brayshaw, Oliver, Weideman? Lumumba ahead of anyone? Surely you're having a lend with this comment? Surely?
  20. Jake Spencer Knee TBC in the injury list http://www.afl.com.au/injury-list There's not much behind Max Gawn now with Mitch King out for the season.
  21. Was Mike forced to interview Jacko?
  22. The much maligned Matt Jones had 30 & 4 against Freo. Hill is an ordinary player in the right place with the right attributes at the right time. Really I can't think of a bigger passenger on the greatness bus.
  23. Brad Hill - 75 games, 3 flags. There's no justice is football.
  24. Agree and posted similar in the VFL Finals are importannt thread.
  25. I think there's a difference in development strategies for different roles. We've got Frost, OMac, Hunt, Wagner playing at MFC in the backline because the important development there is to gel as an AFL unit with TMac and Jetta. They're not going to get that at VFL level. Meanwhile we've got Weideman, Hulett and Oliver working on specific individual attributes e.g. defensive play, spread, that they can learn at VFL level
