Agreed. Bad form. There's a Jerry Seinfeld bit on this, how the same guys in different jumpers get booed just because of the change in outfit ("boooooo: different shirt! Booooooo.") Obviously you have to see it to love it, so here it is.
-
That's why you need an extra little gimmick like some merchandise or something.

Does anyone think Jack Watts looks like a young, in-shape Ray Mears? We're doing pretty well with Bear Grylls (Ricky Petterd) and Ray Mears (Jack Watts) on our list.
-
Guess which Warnock brother has been dropped this week? I think that says it all.
-
That's interesting. It seems that Mark Thompson isn't interested in doing that for Gary Ablett, though, based on his post-match interview last week. I guess he really wants him to stay, no matter what the cost. Most people who are given a lot all at once are less careful with what they spend. I think GC and GWS might also fall into this trap. They will have a lot of money and some pretty juicy picks to trade, and I think they might just be a little less than frugal in their dealings with the currently existing clubs. I hope we can take advantage of this, if it comes to it.

The guy's just trying to get as much money as he can. Good on him. If he stays at Melbourne, that's great. If he leaves, then that's just how it goes. At least we may have a little more room in our cap.

Yeah, I'd be "shattered" too if I got the call up to play for the Dees.
-
I call McKenzie Junior Junior for the way he goes about his footy.

'Kay. How 'bout this? We stick with what we've got now and have the AFL yelling at us every year, saying we'll lose the Queen's Birthday game unless we do something to raise crowd numbers. May I again emphasise point three of my last post. Instead of whining that someone who has no incentive to come up with any ideas whatsoever has thought of something crappy, why don't you put up your own ideas?

First, they wouldn't be considered memberships. Second, the games are the focus and the cards just a bonus. Third, don't be a wet blanket.

Brad Scott's analysis of the demons is WRONG

Fair enough. But isn't the Heritage Round simply the Rivalry round with different grounds and weird jumpers? Like, don't the same teams usually play each other in both rounds? -
I wonder how long DB would have to coach in order to (realistically) get himself back to a 50% win/loss record.

Brad Scott's analysis of the demons is WRONG

I'm stunned we're not playing it against Geelong. We are, after all, the two oldest remaining clubs. -
I don't think it should, simply because these kinds of "memberships" artificially inflate the real figures. But if other clubs are doing it, then I think we should too.

We should call it the Queen's Club Pack and have it grant access to a Brisbane game down here, as well as the Gold Coast team next year (so you've got both Queensland teams), with the addition of the Queen's Birthday blockbuster vs Collingwood as the marquee match of the package. Include a standard deck of 52 Melbourne-themed playing cards and sell it for whatever price the Club sees fit. I'd buy it just for the pack of cards. Aces: Matthew Warnock, Paul Johnson, Daniel Bell, Tom Scully Kings: James McDonald, Dean Bailey, Jim Stynes, Cameron Bruce Queens: Pia Miller, Trisha Broadbridge, 2 other prominent Melbourne women Jacks: Jack Watts, Jack Trengove, Jack Grimes, Jack Fitzpatrick 10s: Cale Morton, Colin Garland, Tom McNamara, Mark Jamar 9s: Addam Maric, Michael Newton, Neville Jetta, Rhys Healey 8s: James Frawley, Brad Green, Joel Macdonald, Danny Hughes 7s: Brad Miller, Jared Rivers, Max Gawn, James Strauss 6s: Matthew Bate, John Meesen, Aaron Davey, Sam Blease 5s: Jordan Gysberts, Ricky Petterd, Kyle Cheney, Luke Tapscott 4s: Lynden Dunn, Liam Jurrah, Stefan Martin, Rohan Bail 3s: Clint Bartram, Jordie McKenzie, Austin Wonaeamirri, Jamie Bennell 2s: Nathan Jones, Colin Sylvia, Brent Moloney, Jake Spencer

I'm not talking about this article specifically,b ut rather the increase in positive media surrounding the club.

It's all a conspiracy to make our players comfortable with themselves. They want us to get ahead of ourselves. As long as we recognise that effort is what got us to where we are, and that even greater effort will get us to where we want to be, then there should be no cause for us to go backwards. But we've all seen teams before who have bought the press and forgotten the effort required to play high-level footy - footy that we've seen is good enough to knock over even the best teams.
-
But the mail was that Chip was sick that day, so you can cut him a little slack.
-
Play him as a loosie in the back-line. He loves it this way anyway, and it would give our attacking defenders (Grimes and Frawley in particular) the confidence to also run off their player when we are rebounding. The only issue, of course is who to drop, and the only answer for me would be to look at who performed worst on the week-end. I don't really know who that was, but I'm sure the FD would have some idea.
-
I'll be looking for a bit of Brock-stice too, with some Burgoyne-stice and Ball-stice thrown in on the side.
-
Good post. Even winning at the Dome (now Etihad) has proven too tough for us in the past, so a win next week would be another massive step in the right direction.
-
"Before beating the hitherto undefeated Lions, Scully said the Demons were confident of mounting a serious challenge to the triple premiers." That's a bit Daniel Rich. Good win, but come on.
-
What the hell was with our fans booing Travis Johnstone? Do any of them even know why he left? I'd never boo Trav.
-
Are we replacing the Doggies as "everyone's second team?" James Brayshaw was saying that there wouldn't be a single person unhappy with last night's performance from the Dees. I'd say there might be a few Lions fans who are a tad upset.

Has anyone seen the video of the boys singing?

I'm just stoked that there are actually still people besides me watching LOST. It's getting close to the end now, guys.
