  1. It's all a conspiracy to make our players comfortable with themselves. They want us to get ahead of ourselves. As long as we recognise that effort is what got us to where we are, and that even greater effort will get us to where we want to be, then there should be no cause for us to go backwards. But we've all seen teams before who have bought the press and forgotten the effort required to play high-level footy - footy that we've seen is good enough to knock over even the best teams.
  2. But the mail was that Chip was sick that day, so you can cut him a little slack.
  3. Play him as a loosie in the back-line. He loves it this way anyway, and it would give our attacking defenders (Grimes and Frawley in particular) the confidence to also run off their player when we are rebounding. The only issue, of course is who to drop, and the only answer for me would be to look at who performed worst on the week-end. I don't really know who that was, but I'm sure the FD would have some idea.
  4. I'll be looking for a bit of Brock-stice too, with some Burgoyne-stice and Ball-stice thrown in on the side.
  5. Good post. Even winning at the Dome (now Etihad) has proven too tough for us in the past, so a win next week would be another massive step in the right direction.
  6. "Before beating the hitherto undefeated Lions, Scully said the Demons were confident of mounting a serious challenge to the triple premiers." That's a bit Daniel Rich. Good win, but come on.
  7. What the hell was with our fans booing Travis Johnstone? Do any of them even know why he left? I'd never boo Trav.
  8. Are we replacing the Doggies as "everyone's second team?" James Brayshaw was saying that there wouldn't be a single person unhappy with last night's performance from the Dees. I'd say there might be a few Lions fans who are a tad upset.
  9. I'm just stoked that there are actually still people besides me watching LOST. It's getting close to the end now, guys.
  10. I stand by my predictions. Since my bold statement, we have just barely lost to the Pies, and have gone on to win three on the trot. Go the Dees.
  11. I like the change in avatar, 45. I want to give a big pat on the back to everyone here, 95% of whom have probably gone every week during our darkest times. And to all the others, who have been flung across Australia and the world, but still kept the Dees close to their heart, despite living many miles from the Mecca, thank you for still supporting from afar.
  12. I would consider Jurrah and Morton walk-up starters, Bail and Rivers on the cusp of selection, Wonaeamirri only match-fitness away from the cusp, and everyone else miles from being in the team.
  13. Isn't that pretty much the 2000 manual with an extra chapter at the end?
  14. http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/04/24/2882064.htm?site=sport&section=all This just in. James Frawley becomes first human to master unaided flight. Is working on cure for cancer.
  15. Then the rovers just shark the hell out of the opposition ruckman. It's pretty much what happens now whenever one ruck gets way on top.
  16. I had an inkling they might. He's been playing pretty poorly this season. Are they going to go with a one-ruckman/pinch-hit set-up with Hudson and Everett then?
  17. That mark just screamed "this is AFL." It was just so traditional - knee in the back, three feet in the air, marked out in front. Beautiful.
  18. The Richmond fellas behind me were laying traditional Tiger crap on all of their players last Sunday, but I was amazed at how often they talked about Jordan McMahon. For a guy who wasn't even playing that day, I thought they were unusually obsessed with him ("he's earning 300k at Coburg and has never done anything good. Get him up to the seniors so he can get smashed every week and earn his money.") I nearly turned around and said to them that the only good thing he's ever done was to give us Jack Trengove.
  19. Is this for real? J. Brown is not playing? If it's true, I'm kind of disappointed. I'd love to see him do his thing on the 'G, and it would be good to see how our defenders stack up against him and the Fev.
  20. Give the kid a break. At least he played two more AFL games than you or I ever will.
  21. Didn't we essentially get Brent Moloney for him? Beamer wasn't too bad a trade for Thompson.
  22. Should we not judge Luke Molan yet? He hasn't played 10 AFL games either. I'm being facetious, of course. To the OP, just remember that Nick Naitanui is a year older than Jack Watts, and he also played in the WAFL the year before that. So essentially, NicNat has had 2 more years experience over Jack Watts. Yes I'm fearful that Jack won't live up to expectations, but I'm also patient enough to know that "playing up the ground and getting a few classy possessions" (to quote Yze_Magic quoting every Casey post ever) is probably all we'll get from Jack Watts for a while.
