  1. I did see that, but I also saw his runs down the wing. We need more of that in this team, but we need to somehow drill the fear out of Morton. If that can be done, he'll still be a serviceable player for us.
  2. To be honest, I agree. The reason he's in my votes is because of his willingness to tackle and run. His disposal was shocking and cost us at least a couple of goals. But compared to everyone else, at least he was proactive and aggressive.
  3. That's what I saw too, but you won't get much support from this crowd.
  4. At least the Titanic sank in pursuit of greatness. We're sinking in pursuit of mediocrity.
  5. If we are tanking, then accusations of a lack of "buy in" from the players are totally incorrect. If our aim is to lose and lose badly, our players are right on board.
  6. IN: Couch, Tynan, Petterd OUT: Garland, Grimes (inj.), Rivers Couch has been elevated for a reason. I want to see what that reason is. Tynan should never have been dropped in the first place Petterd hopefully shows increased desperation and fitness as a result of this week's VFL game. Garland's disposal has been wretched for weeks and he's burned up all his credits. Grimes appears to have concussion and will miss one week Rivers is too slow and too small to be a good AFL footballer any more. Beaten handsomely by Brad Miller today. That says it all. Those calling for Morton to be dropped need to realize that he was bad not because of skill errors, but because of nerves. He was afraid to attack the ball, and I think only playing him the seniors will take away that fear. Not much else should change until the players themselves realize that the entire future of the Melbourne Football Club and all of its employees rests on their timid, flabby shoulders. Man up Melbourne! It's a catch-cry I've heard more times than I can count. More than ever, Melbourne needs to man up.
  7. Cale Morton is afraid to get hurt. He cost us about three or four goals today because he refused to put his body on the line. Otherwise, his game was perfectly fine.
  8. 6. Howe, who presented hard, marked well and provided options 5. Watts, who put his body on the line more than I've seen in a while 4. Jones, who never stopped trying. Gave away a few free kicks, but only through his desire to impact the contest 3. Trengove, who was invisible when the game was in the balance, but did some good things after the game was over 2. Jack Grimes, whose disposal is pretty poor, but was willing to tackle hard 1. Clark, who made some idiotic mistakes early, but was our most promising forward. We are a long, LONG way back.

Mick Malthouse: "Hopefully they will stick with [Mark Neeld." Apparently Neeld was talking to Mick last night about the club and he said that there are so many areas where we are well behind. Man, we've got a long way to go.

We just need to figure out who's responsible for our cold third quarters. There's something rotten happening in the half-time break to make us come out looking disinterested and slow. What is it?

There have been people riding Garland's back for a while now, and I'm certainly seeing it. Horrible turn-over.

Morton drops a sitter up and under because he's scared of getting hurt, and costs us another goal. GTFO!

This really could become embarrassing. What is going on at the Dees?

Once again the Dees fall away after the half. Who is responsible for this? Fix that problem and we'll be much better.

Great stuff from Clark and Howe. Morton is embarrasing.

Glad to see some contested marks from the Demons. It has seemed for years that we're no good at this aspect of the game.

Some flashes of the old Aaron Davey today, which is nice to see.

I tipped against us this week. If that's what it takes for us to show something, I'd gladly tip against us every week.

I often think Jack Watts overthinks the game. Hopefully with a couple of whacks on the head, he will stop thinking so hard and play a blinder.

Substitutes Addam Maric for the Tigers and Lynden Dunn for the Demons. Good choices on both accounts.
  21. Carlton used to get the tanking label, but they couldn't give two sh*ts, so the media stopped bringing it up as soon as they started winning again. We should have the same attitude. Who gives a rat's tossbag what the media says?
