Which Demon is the most likely to have a breakout year in 2023?
My pick would probably be Riv. Started re-finding form in the back half of the season after getting injured and had a great first couple of years. He has a bit of 'peacock' factor (confidence) and all the physical tools to take his game to the next level. Could even find himself playing more on the ball if he plays his cards right. My other one would be Chandler to "break out" by getting regular games.

2022 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow
Love Sparrow. Would like to see him get caught HTB a bit less and stop flying for marks that aren't his, but looking forward to his development in 2023. If he keeps putting on size and spending more time in the midfield then the sky's the limit.

Hawks racism allegations (merged thread)
That is absolutely psychopathic behaviour, unbelievable. To be able to carry out those actions like essentially showing up to the player's house to evict their partner without questioning yourself as a human - unfathomable. Horrible for all partners and players involved. You also have to feel a bit for North - their biggest signing in years and less than a month later this comes out. Wonder how they'll handle it

Daisy on Indigenous round and the minute's silence for the Queen
Fantastic takedown of disingenuous, smarmy [censored] and convicted racist Andrew Bolt. Why his opinion matters to anyone I'll never know

Daisy on Indigenous round and the minute's silence for the Queen
I'm kind of surprised at how strong some of the reactions some people on here have had, as if they're personally insulted on behalf of the Queen. She obviously leaves a massive legacy on world history and for the most part was a good monarch, but I think it' important to remember the perspectives of the current players. Most AFLW players are aged between 20-35, and for people that age, the Royal family's legacy during their lifetime is mostly: - The ugly ostracision of Diana from the Royal family - The ugly ostracision of Harry and Megan from the Royal family - The protection of the Queens pedophile son (of which the Queen played a big part) - The racist and off-colour gaffes from Phillip over the years And I understand that she's not the one at the Christian missions removing Indigenous children from their families or enacting acts of racism against Indigenous people, but she is the literal embodiment of the system/government that enforced it. I understand taking a different view on the Queen's legacy but at the same time the decision of the AFLW should hardly be a surprise.

Daisy on Indigenous round and the minute's silence for the Queen
Daisy is so well spoken, what a legend. Succinctly and eloquently put while not stepping on the toes of the Queen's legacy - so glad she's a Demon

Positives from 2022
I think anyone posting in these threads (good or bad) need to cast their minds back to their history as a Dees supporter. Yes, the finish to the season was frustrating, but honestly unless you are 70+ years old, this is the best time ever to be a Dees supporter. This year alone we had a 17-game winning streak, second-place finish, 4x AA, the best player, ruck and full back in the comp and a crop of promising young players coming through. The best player in the comp signed a long-term deal with the club, ensuring we have the best 1-2 midfield punch in the league for the next 5+ seasons. Brayshaw and Viney probably had career years, while players Petty and Pickett look incredible for the future. Even Disco looked good in his small cameo. Casey is looking at a flag this year, and the girls fell just short earlier this year. Looking the goods again. Front office also looks as schmick as it ever has. The best part about it was that 2022 wasn't our one all-or-nothing shot at the flag. We are in a position to go again next year, and the year after that and after that. This is all part of the journey of supporting a sports team. Losing in straight sets may be the slap in the face that the players and coaches need to re-tool for 2023. In any case I can't wait. Go Dees

Selwyn Griffith
Not sure how much was Griffith's fault, but we were clearly less fit than last year. I wonder if stagnant selection ended up hurting us. So many players looked done by the end of the year

Farewell Luke Jackson
It would make sense, giving Freo time to put a good trade package together. In the meantime Dees supporters would have to band together to find the most eligible 21-year-old bachelorettes in the city and throw them in front of Jacko

Jesse Hogan
- Farewell Brodie Grundy
I think the footy department boffins have enough credits in the bank to be trusted to make the right call. If they reckon he's a good fit and the price tag is right then why the hell not? Ruck is the position of least depth on our list and Grundy is a proven commodity, albeit he hasn't been amazing the last few seasons. Trust the process- Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
Interesting that he said the deal wasn't confirmed until around 24h before the announcement. Would have thought it would have been organised well ahead of time- GAMEDAY: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
Surely only Eagles supporters need booing coaching from the local rag- New Balance 40% members offer
Usually you put the items in the cart, and as you go to check out you put in the code and it should reduce the price. Also I don't think the discount counts for any items that are already sale items- Jordan De Goey
Being a functioning member of society does not demand perfection- Jordan De Goey
Steven May was the captain of the club he came from (a leader) and was AA last year. He has been a great servant apart from the [censored]-up at Entrecote this year. Dusty has never been an ice addict, and besides, we have a player who is like De Goey but better in Petracca. De Goey is neither AA or Norm Smith quality and has demonstrated an inability to grow as a player on the field and as a person off it. He can go to Essendon and join Stringer so the Bombers can have two talented but idiotic mercurial forwards who will play five good games a year and teach terrible habits to their young teammates the rest of the year.- Jordan De Goey
Yuck, no way. That guy is cultural cancer. Don't care how good his footy is, he's an out-and-out grub- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KYSAIAH KROPINYERI PICKETT
I thought he became more of a focal point going forward as the game went on, a few players including Trac actively looked for him going I50 instead of bombing it over his head to try to get a crumb. He actually makes very good leads week in week out but gets ignored regularly- Farewell Luke Jackson
No way Brayshaw leaves. Lookin at everything he's said about his contract situation, he is staying- Farewell Luke Jackson
Since Jackson was drafted, Fremante have had 6x first round picks in the AFL Draft. The idea that they don't have the ability to compensate us is BS, they are brimming with young talent. It's just a matter of prying some good players out of Peter Bell's grubby little hands- Taylor Walker
The head says he would be a valuable addition on a short-term contract, but the heart says hell-to-the-no. Want that guy nowhere near a Melbourne jumper. If he wants to join the club he can sign on as Lever's personal water boy- Is our offense a problem?
Our forward line performance is dependent on our pressure further up the ground more so than forward line personnel IMO. You could see vs Brisbane that when the defence and midfield is humming, the forward line takes care of itself. I think the forward line issues are an easy target for media pundits, but I reckon it will straighten out as our training loads drop and the boys bring more and more pressure on game day. Not an issue for mine.- We will murder the filth on Monday.
I think the fans probably need a win more than the club does. Would make for a much more comfortable bye week if we were back on the winner's list - Farewell Brodie Grundy
