Whatever made me think you were replying to me? Maybe it's the fact that you click 'Reply' at the bottom of my posts... The only one offended in this thread is comedy and wit.

See now, this is where I move from dismissiveness to annoyed and a little [censored] off. You are essentially saying that my acceptance, for reasonable and historical purposes, of this white guernsey is tacit approval for the dismantling of the club's emblems and the homogenisation of the game. And that is nonsense. At home - we should be king. I would approve Cam Schwab putting up with a massive fine to not adhere to any jumper swap in our home games. But I realise that our great red and blue jumper clashes with other jumpers and I will cede us wearing that guernsey in selected away games. Why? Because other clubs have just as much right at home to wear their jumper. And you spelled ADs name wrong.

Excuse me, gents. I've just invented a time machine to travel from the pre-gold rush era, of which I have no knowledge yet, in a state not formed yet known as Victoria. I played in team called Melbourne who invented this wonderful sport that seems to be talked about here. But I have no knowledge of these 'Demons' you discuss, nor these colours of red and blue, but I am thankful that there is still a vestige of my 'Invincible Whites' in the guernsey the MFC wears in some away games. Top stuff, embracing the roots like that...

I wonder if white being 'the colour of surrender' is to do with the inherent weak qualities of the non-colour or the fact that in ancient times before CNN - one's garments, invariably white, were hoisted up to communicate the desire to thrown down one's arms to avoid an impending slaughter. Still that doesn't take anything away from the absolute truth that two colours define us to the extent that the make fans conspiratorily crazy. I love the red and the blue, but don't question my commitment because I am tolerating an extra - benign - colour in our away strip.

I'm with WJ. I know we are MFC supporters but we just won in Brisbane with a young and underdone forward line. Great effort. And Watts screwing up a dozen times tonight doesn't worry me at all; the fact that he is getting to the ball so often is the most pleasing thing for me to come out of the last month. Really happy for Bailey and Mahoney and whoever else has helped him with his workrate improvement.
-
Its a forum, mate. Play the ball and not the man. Whatever that means. Honestly, if you want to be sarcastic and flippant you really are having a go at the wrong bloke - it's my stock and trade. It's a non-issue that, as BBP says, is one of the most annoying arguments on this place. We need an alternative, it looks fine and we should move on.
-
Not this again?! FCS. If Brad Miller can tackle Matty Whelan at OO against Carlton, we can have a clash strip. It looks fine. And the MFC at one point was called 'the Invincible Whites' early in our storied history, WYL. So stop being so excitable. Move on, nuff-nuffs. I know that hurt but it's a nuff-nuff/Hun/fork-and-spoon issue and we are above that.

You're hard to read. I'll leave it at that.
-
You are confusing small tactical changes with a plan. Don't worry - you not the first. Geoge W had the same problem.
-
Exactly. Against a good team playing half decent we would need an extra handball off to a running player - hence the handball count yesterday; there was no need for an extra handball - there was no opponent...

An excellent emblem. The criticism I have seen: Too busy - This is what the best emblems are; rich and meaningful. Has the southern cross - Why shouldn't it? Because racists like those 4 stars? Should we then take it out of the national flag? Doesn't have the Demon - It has a trident? Is that not enough? Do people not infer anymore? Are we so dumb and numb that we can't be subtle, or do we require a blunt demon face scowling at the front? Perhaps a demon from BtVS will do? Perhaps Angel can be the demon? The girls will like that - David Boreanaz as our emblem... I realise some of the older posters will be confused by that last part and to them I say - buy the DVD boxset.

The look on the face of a young Brad Green whenever an opposition was near him in a contest is the same face I see on Jack Watts.
-
I think you care what Leigh Matthews says more than Jack Watts does... He's probably much more concerned with impressing O'Donnell, Gotch, Mahoney, and Bailey. Those last names don't reach out and grab you, unless they literally reach out and grab you...
-
Well said. Green is the perfect example of someone who - like Jack - prefers to avoid contact (prefers, not actively tries) and has developed that side of his game to the point where he has little regard for his own safety in contests and regularly crashes packs. But, saying - or infering - the kid has no faults, or he has nothing major to work on - is naive. One thing I will say though is his workrate has improved out of sight - he's a quick learner.
-
How precious can we be? I have a solution for those who feel belittled by others for getting names wrong... Spell the name right. We all go after Underwood when she mistakes Dunn for Watts. All MFC players should be spelt properly on this site. That's a deliverable we can all stand by.

Newcomers to Demonland! You have experienced one of the mysteries of Demonland... Freak is the anti-oracle. For everything he says, shall be. In reverse, completely wrong, like the most polar opposite thing to whatever he posts. We marvel at his wrong-ness and wonder why and how... Why he doesn't realize and how come he won't stop posting his nonsense.

Positive: the 7 and a half wins Negative: the 14 and a half losses Yes, i thought winning 7 or 8 games would be a good result. But losing 15 or 14 games is unacceptable. Just unacceptable. Positive: the stretching of coll twice, and the bullies in very honourable losses. Negative: the acceptance of defeat by determining the disappointing losses to those teams as 'honourable.' Defeat may be apart of life but that doesn't mean you shouldn't go on pathetic hand-wringing and whingeing expedition of blood and blame letting that would rival the emotional breakdown of 2010 known as the Foster-Cockerill Disaster.

Mono calling for Bailey's head?!? Oh my, must be that time of the year...
-
E25 and Jaded are right. Plan B is a nonsense concocted by fans who think a gameplan can be changed at a whim and/or that small tactical changes are a new 'gameplan.' Morton behind the ball isn't a gameplan. People saying we should abandon our rushing handball, play on through the corridor with risk are those that want to change the gameplan. And they are kidding themselves.
-
The gameplan - our Plan A - is pretty bloody effective and exciting when the players are doing it properly. Those who complain about not having a plan B - please tell me why players who can't perform the gameplan they practice all the time should be able to, without notice, play a different style. And what style would that be? The chip around the boundary line crap that Coll play? We got back into the game yesterday by playing Plan A. At about 2.30...

You're wrong. The very fact that you likened Dunn to the Ox in his early days says everything I need to know about your footy IQ. Dunn looks like a footy player but his execution and decision making leave; much to be required and him in the VFL. If he is as arrogant as you intimate with his 'tell the coach' quip, then I suggest he deal with his issues and show Bailey what he can do in an AFL game. Lord knows Bailey isn't the only person not to see what Lyndon sees.
-
Oooohh, menacing. Don't worry about diplomacy; name them and I will tell you whether you're on the mark or not. And this is GM at your worst. Equating Mortons presence to our decline in form is not just specious - it's scurrilous.
-
To say that Martin or Johnson do as much in the forward line as Miller is naive. Miller has been disappointing but his work ethic outstrips every other forward and easily covers a kid new to the game (Martin) and someone who wishes he was a foot smaller than he is (Johnson). Johnson as depth is laughable considering what a second ruck, especially to a dominant Jamar, does during a match. This is why we don't play a second ruck - because there isn't a ruck in the top 30 players at the club and considering that most Hives albums go for longer than the time spent on the field by Jamar's understudy.
-
Awesome is a mark of varying interpretations. I don't think we can win the flag in 2012 (which is the thirty games) but I do think we can push the top 4 for most of the year. The issue lies with our talent - they will still be inexperienced. Aside from Morton - our best players: Watts, Jurrah, Petterd, Jetta, Bennell, Wonaeamirri, Scully, Trengove, McKenzie, Gysberts, Blease, and Tapscott, will have played less than 50 games, and in most cases, far less than 50 games. When you expect too much too soon, you make rash decisions when you don't reach the unrealistic goals you have set. We all thought Thompson should have gone, they kept the faith. Faith! And the rest is history, and future history.

Who is teaching Jack Watts to play as a key forward?
rpfc replied to Tex's topic in Melbourne Demons
We really should employ someone, on a full time basis, to be a forwards coach. Bailey, Connolly and Schwab should get together with Bailey having the most say on this proposed, and radical, "Forwards Coach." Is everyone still with me? Stay with me now. This "Forwards coach" will be charged with attempting accomplishments like; turning Petterd into a dangerous medium forward capable of kicking multiple goals, designing a forward structure that tears apart more seasoned teams like Brisbane and Port Adelaide, exposing young talent (Watts, Jetta, Bennell, and Wonaeamirri) while still being competitive. Sounds like a tough job and those expectations are rather extreme. I reckon Josh Mahoney would be good in that role. He certainly has the experience and the runs on the board...
