I could say the same thing about your seemingly endless trust of sports journos...and David effing Schwarz... I believed an impressive 20 year old didn't sign a contract last October. I still believe that Demon. Whether he stays a Demon I don't know. I guess we will find out soon enough, and we can end this dance.
-
That sounds good until you look at the names and talent: Warnock, Spencer, Dunn, Bate, and Maric...
-
Nasher! If you are going to have a tantrum because you didn't get the last Malthouse, then no ice-cream! I will call up and see if they have a Lyon in stock, ok? And how are you going to take care of it? Look what you did to the Bailey I got you...
-
And it also teaches those that thought 9/10 wins finshing 10th to 7th is a 'pass' and would get Dean another contract that things are never as simple as having hard and fast measurements of a year...

Colin Sylvia - commits to the Demons for 2 more years
rpfc replied to MrMoose's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hooray for us. Colin is a very good player who could be elite, but he isn't. I'm sick and tired hearing about his 'X Factor' - he isn't consistent enough for a 25 year old to graduate from 'X Factor' to 'Elite' obviously... He still relies on others getting the ball in his hands and probably always will. So in that respect mids that get the footy first and KPPs (like Frawley) are more important and less replaceable. -
Well, if we do it the way I want to: we won't know until the second week of October... I'm assuming people would want an answer before then?

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - 2011 Season Wrap Edition
rpfc replied to Striker475's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think he is talking about just this thread. 2011 has been a poor year. Looking forward to the fresh start next year. It's going to be more fun, I promise. -
I'm assuming this is a joke, no? I really don't know what teetotalling players do on 'Mad Monday'... Are they allowed to skip it? It's never come up in the teams I have played for... How about this - they should come along for a few laughs and they can excuse themselves at the point where the conversation turns into the kind of conversation that only drunken people can understand...

Our club is fractured at the minute. IT's troubling. It's not reason enough to leave if he ends up doing so. I still don't know what he will decide, and I am still uncomfortable with us disparaging him while he is still a Demon. Albeit an injured one. We will find out soon enough...

Out with soreness. I don't know if this means what many here think it does but I get annoyed at the way journos write about this stuff. In the article above, it is 'news' that has been given an editorial bias. 'Tom Scully has "soreness"' it says. But not a few sentences later there are a few Port players who may miss because of 'soreness' as opposed to Tom Scully's '"soreness".' Just irritates me.

You don't know any of this for certain. You may be right. But I am happy with delaying the decision, and I am happy for our club to look reactive in the end due to our proactive behaviour in trying to get a proven coach.

This is an exercise Fev should be doing himself with those around him. I'm all for compassion. That doesn't mean my footy club has to be. Football has not been a friend to Fev. I have made this argument before; AFL footy has brought this bloke too much/many: - free time for the punt - spare cash for the punt - noteriety for his little head to get in trouble easily - excellent opportunities to embarrass himself publicly for the benefit of others (Brownlow nonsense for the Footy Show). So he can play AFL if he wants to but don't use the "he needs AFL" reason for him being given a chance. It's BS. BTW, I am all for getting Fev to the Dees if we can get Goddard, Thompson ©, and Cornes...

We should draft this guy on 'heart' alone ...
rpfc replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would give him a rookie spot, but I am a romantic. -
If you want to coach this great club, you can come now! One year caretakers?! It's ridiculous. I know Robert Walls wrote about it today but he is living in a fantasy land. Malthouse can take a month off if he wants to - from October 3 to November 3. In mid-october at the latest - we announce a coach for a minimum of three years.
-
Can you two just leave it to the PMs?
-
Yes, possibly. PS. The way you cut up your lines makes it harder to read. It's like William Shatner is voicing your posts...
-
It smells like we are going through the motions of selecting a new coach. I hope we go through these motions until around mid October and then Malthouse signs two weeks after saying he is taking a break from footy.
-
I don't know. Do you relaise how ironic your post is? Or is it self-defeating? Or confirming? It's probably all three.
-
I would go for him absolutely. In fact, I said in another thread that I would be happy to compromise with the "Get Fev Brigade" if we get Thompson, Cornes, and Goddard. Get those three - make Thompson captain and we can get Fevola. Everyone happy now?
-
Yes, I give the $160 for the Premium. It is, in essence a donation, but I think of it more as taking ownership over the club as a member rather than no having direct involvement as an MCC member alone.
-
In 2009 we were also intent on developing the NQRs. And Martin was one of them. He may have been injured in 2010 but he was still an NQR, and he was headed for a delisting. Easily the most improved player on our list.
-
How is that? We are already frontloading contracts to meet the salary cap. We will most likely do the same with Tom. We have flexibility and we will have more room due to the CBA - I really don't think his inflated wage is going to be as much of a hindrance as many believe.
-
To win flags you have to have star players and in particular mids. We have a potential one in Tom Scully. Until we don't. But I have a spare 5 minutes... 1. Pay Issues Done to death. He will get paid more than he would normally, boo hoo. The new CBA will easily eat up whatever increase in pay we will 'waste' on Tom. 2. Reaching Potential Subjective. I think so. Move on. 3. Stays Fit No-one can know this. 4. Compensation If he leaves we will get a pick right after our pick and an end of first round pick. in 2012 it will be around the 12 and 20 mark. That is not sufficient for a recent number 1 draft pick. Hell, we wouldn't even trade Pick 2 for Port's 8 and 9 when we got Trengove. Premium picks is where the talent is at. 5. Salary Cap Pressure Due to Inflated Scully Contract Huh? He will be on $600k for 5 years... Probably frontended. Little problem there. Done, but I don't expect you to agree with me. We all have our opinions - mine is that you have to scrape and claw to keep star talent at your club. I don't want to see him go.
-
If Scully goes you won't have to worry... GWS can only take one.
